00:14models through OpenRouter has remained above 30% each week since February 8th,
00:19compared with an 11% average over the prior 12 months. Companies are testing cheaper open-source
00:25and open-weight models from DeepSeek, Z.ai, and Alibaba's Quen. OpenRouter's Justin Somerville
00:31said open-source Chinese AI models can cost 60% to 90% less than leading models from Anthropic and
00:38OpenAI. Chinese AI models are becoming more capable while remaining cheaper than top U.S. rivals,
00:44with some open-source models handling most LLM tasks outside the most complex use cases.
