Some say it was the match of the tournament.

As England did something only two other teams had managed before them, beat Mexico at the Azteca stadium.

England and Mexico traded goals and momentum, but the English bunkered down to survive the Mexican assault.

As they booked a spot in the quarter-finals with a gutsy 3-2 win.

00:00It felt like a million Mexicans were crammed into the Azteca which
00:04historically is a barren hunting ground for England and the Mexicans were
00:15looking to add more bad memories to the visitors but for all their dominance
00:24England pickpocketed them on the counter and they would mug them a second time
00:41in succession. But England's lead would be halved three minutes later and Mexico would
01:09continue to probe. That blaring miss was followed by brilliance from Pickford
01:23as England were lucky to still have the lead at the intermission. And the visitors
01:31came out red-hot looking to restore the two-goal advantage. Yet it was England
01:40seeing red soon after. But the Azteca was a seesaw of emotions as the pendulum swung England's
01:59way again. As Kane delivered from the spot. And yet it swung back Mexico's way too. As the lead was
02:27cut in half once more.
02:39Yet Mexico still needed another as England were holding on like a wounded boxer against the ropes.
02:49But some determined defending prevailed as the English recorded only the third victory over Mexico at the Azteca.
