Celebrating Greece and its ancient gods: Annual polytheism festival takes place on Mount Olympus

Mount Olympus is a sight to behold each summer as torchlight processions, symbolic ceremonies and theatrical performances bring communities together in a shared celebration of ancient Greek mythology.

00:01For more than 3 decades, hundreds of people from Greece and abroad have gathered at the
00:06foothills of Mount Olympus every summer to take part in events inspired by the ancient
00:10Greek tradition and its virtual practices.
00:13The town of Litochora and the Prometheus Grove become a meeting point for thousands of
00:18visitors from Greece and overseas, offering participants the opportunity to experience
00:22aspects of Dodeca theism, also known as Hellenic Polytheism.
00:26Participants join processions, torch relays and symbolic ceremonies held near the
00:31archaeological site of Dion.
00:32Many also adopt names inspired by ancient Greece, which they use throughout the festival.
00:37It is a feast with the Greek special place.
00:43We worship our gods with the nature, as you can see around us, because the ancient Greek
00:50temple was the same nature.
00:54The program also includes a gathering of the banks of the Enipeas River, where symbolic
00:59ceremonies are held in honor of nature and the Nives and Nereids of Greek mythology.
01:17The festival concludes with theatrical performances, traditional dances and celebrations inspired by
01:22the ancient Greece, set against the natural backdrop of the forest of Mount Olympus.
