00:00Keeping tabs on the real estate market.
00:02Getting you down?
00:03There's got to be a better way.
00:05I'm Jack McBrayer, and we bring you
00:07eye-catching, unique homes on the real estate market
00:10that satisfy a hunger for color, texture,
00:15oh, and outrageous surprises.
00:18That was a house and a goat pen.
00:20What?
00:21Put your finger in.
00:22Nothing's going to bite me.
00:23I don't think so.
00:24I'm taking a journey.
00:26One house will be crowned the wildest.
00:30So join now.
00:37Welcome to Jasper, Arkansas, gateway
00:40to the recreational delights of the Ozark Mountains.
00:43I'm here in a remote location to tour
00:45a newly bought forest hideaway.
00:48But at the moment, it's doing a really good job of hiding.
00:52I don't know where I am.
00:55Hey, Jack.
00:56I'm Ryan.
00:56Oh, yoy.
00:57Nice to meet you.
00:58Where are we?
01:00Welcome to the Ozarks.
01:01Bless your heart.
01:02This is a schlep.
01:03There's nothing out here.
01:04It's a little remote.
01:05Yeah.
01:05Yeah.
01:06Are we at your house yet?
01:07Almost.
01:08If you want to hop in, I'll take you the rest of the way.
01:09Please.
01:10Let's do it.
01:13Woo!
01:14It's like a theme park.
01:16So the property's got all this great acreage.
01:18It's got trails cut through all of it.
01:20It's got these beautiful rock formations everywhere,
01:22in multiple creeks and waterfalls and cave systems.
01:26Wow.
01:27Hello.
01:31I'm Jack.
01:32I'm Shay.
01:33Nice to meet you.
01:33Nice to meet you.
01:35I'm excited to be.
01:36Wow.
01:44Whoa.
01:47Is that the house?
01:48That's a house built in the side of a bluff.
01:51I'm Ryan.
01:51And I'm Shay.
01:52And we just bought the cave house.
01:54Do y'all live out here?
01:55We actually just bought the property a few weeks ago.
01:57Oh, you did?
01:58Oh, you're fresh.
01:59Yeah.
01:59So it's not currently livable, but we're working on it.
02:02Not currently livable?
02:03What does that mean?
02:03Oh, you'll see.
02:04Y'all didn't create this, but was this kind of your thing?
02:07Like, I've always wanted to have a house on the side of a mountain.
02:11Kind of, yeah.
02:11I've always been fascinated with the idea of building a house into a cave.
02:14And so when I saw this pop up, I'm like, hey, it's already halfway there.
02:17You know, so.
02:18That's right.
02:18Did it take some convincing?
02:19Am I about to find out?
02:20It took a ton of convincing.
02:22It was a hard no initially.
02:24From the listing, it was dark.
02:26It was scary.
02:27I couldn't even tell what it was.
02:29It definitely didn't look like a house that could function.
02:32It just looked like a nightmare.
02:34And then I came out and I took photos and videos.
02:37And then I sent it over to her once I got cell service.
02:39Then it was an enthusiastic yes.
02:42Really?
02:43Yes.
02:43Okay.
02:44So can we take a look?
02:45Let's go.
02:46All right.
02:46I love it.
02:52That's a rock.
02:54The house is built around that rock formation.
02:58Walk in the front door.
02:59Rock.
03:01Rock wall.
03:02Rock ceiling.
03:03Which I guess I should have assumed, but you forget.
03:06And then you walk in and you're like, nope, there it is.
03:08This is crazy.
03:10I mean, I understand why you might be a little reluctant at first.
03:16This is just the side of a cliff.
03:19Correct.
03:20The house itself is built around this bluff.
03:22And then there's a series of natural cave openings under the ledge.
03:25And you can see it's an active like cave system.
03:28It's dripping.
03:28It's dripping.
03:29What is that?
03:30Water?
03:30This moisture coming out of the limestone.
03:32Oh my gosh.
03:32He's got like little moisture catchers there.
03:35The drips go down into the funnels and then it's around the tubes to the side of the house.
03:38Kind of an interesting way of mitigating the moisture.
03:40Who was this guy?
03:41The guy's name was Roy Gano.
03:43He built the house, him and his wife, over the course of about seven years.
03:47It was a weekend project for him.
03:48It was completely off grid.
03:50And this is a 12-inch thick concrete wall that makes up the exterior of the house.
03:53This sounds crazy.
03:55This is pretty fantastic.
03:57And also I see just art on the walls.
03:59Seeing hand laid mosaic tile.
04:03Hand carved staircase.
04:06Hand painting.
04:07And knowing that they didn't hire anyone to do this.
04:10Roy and his wife spent years poured their heart and soul into it.
04:14And that is part of the reason I said yes.
04:17When you're here in person, it wasn't just this crazy, you know, off grid compound.
04:22It was a work of art.
04:23This rock, it goes all the way over you.
04:26Do you feel in danger at all?
04:28I had a list of concerns.
04:31We have three small children and the electricity.
04:36It is a series of extension cords.
04:40Running water.
04:41We have to get a well drilled out here.
04:43We've got to get a toilet.
04:44We've got to get that toilet working.
04:47We need to put in a septic system.
04:49We need to replace all the windows.
04:51And as I'm saying this out loud, it sounds very overwhelming.
04:55We need to do a lot of work to make it livable.
04:58Inside downstairs, you've got your kitchen and your bathroom and your living area.
05:02Mm-hmm.
05:02How big is this place? Can we check it out?
05:04Yeah, let's go. Let's go upstairs.
05:06After you.
05:07Will they hold me?
05:08I hope so.
05:10Me too.
05:14Let's go upstairs.
05:15Oh my gosh.
05:17Oh, this is a very sturdy tree.
05:18I love this.
05:21There's a lot of space up here.
05:24So it's got two bedroom spaces in the second level here.
05:27Okay.
05:28So one over here, one directly across from us.
05:30And then we've got two lofts above each bedroom area.
05:32Gotcha.
05:33Like, I couldn't even imagine just, like, staying here.
05:36This is your wall.
05:38Because it is nature, it's going to shift and change.
05:41That's going to be a concern here, yes?
05:43Absolutely.
05:44I mean, you can already see, like, just where the walls meet, you know?
05:46Yes!
05:46There's quite a bit of separation just from the settling of the concrete.
05:50So we've got a pretty intense renovation plan that we're going to be undergoing here in the next few months
05:55to mitigate that.
05:56Spiders like to crawl in through these gaps, and who knows what else.
06:00But the snakes eat the spiders, so it's okay.
06:02Ugh.
06:03We still don't know how much it's going to cost us to make this place livable.
06:08So it's definitely a very intimidating project.
06:12It's going to be worth doing once we get it done.
06:15Is this just going to be like a weekend vacation home for y'all?
06:18We do want to use this as a retreat because we want our kids to spend some quality time in
06:23nature.
06:23But we also want them to see how we appreciate the original artist of this home and the heart and
06:31soul that he poured into it as we preserve that as much as we can during the remodel.
06:35I think that is so special.
06:37I thank you for the afternoon.
06:39Thank you, Jack.
06:39This has been so fun, Ryan.
06:40Thank you, Jack.
06:40It's great to meet you.
06:41Thank y'all.
06:42Bye, you guys.
06:43See you, Jack.
06:45Can you give me a ride?
06:47Yeah, I guess I can make that work.
06:48Yes!
06:48Yes!
06:50Watch out for them yetis in the woods, you know?
06:54Now, what does the Wild Dial have to say about Cave Sweet Cave?
06:58This home is chock full of handcrafted originality from the mosaic floor to the limestone ceiling.
07:05Its rugged cave walls and rustic cedar touches show a rock solid commitment to nature.
07:12As for the wild factor, it's literally a cave.
07:16What more could you ask for?
07:20My wild odyssey has led me to Van Nuys, California in LA's San Fernando Valley.
07:26There's a home for sale that's an oasis amid this suburban neighborhood.
07:31I've come to meet the owner for a tour that's fit for the gods.
07:42What do we have here?
07:50Coming!
07:53Hello!
07:54Jack!
07:54Stratus!
07:55Yeah, how are you doing, mate?
07:56How are you, sir?
07:57I'm really great.
07:58I'm Stratus, and I'm selling Villa di Leone.
08:01It's time for change.
08:03I've been here 20 years.
08:04It's time for someone else to appreciate it and enjoy it.
08:07You're in Los Angeles right now.
08:09Sure.
08:10And I'm going to take you into another world once you step in here.
08:13Come on.
08:13Let's go.
08:19You walk in, you can't even see what the surrounding homes look like.
08:26It really does transport you to a whole different place in a whole different time.
08:31I see all this decor here.
08:33I see pillars.
08:33I see, is that a fresco?
08:35I don't know.
08:35Yeah, it's an ancient Greek fresco.
08:37Are you Greek?
08:37I'm Greek.
08:38I'm very proud Greek.
08:39I love it.
08:40With an Aussie accent.
08:41Okay, so are we going like with a Greek motif?
08:44It's a mixture.
08:45I always had love and connection with ancient Greece and Rome, and just the architecture.
08:52I just love it.
08:53The initial idea when I purchased this home was to build it into a European villa.
08:58I want to hear everything about this place.
09:00Let's go.
09:01Let's do it.
09:02After you.
09:03Here.
09:06Oh.
09:12Whoa, Stratus.
09:13Oh, this is very ornate.
09:16Oh, even the ceiling.
09:19What inspired this?
09:20A lot of the inspiration for this house was based on Alexander the Great, which I was
09:27actually a movie that I spent five years of my life preparing for the role of playing Alexander.
09:32Unfortunately, things fall apart, but I was able to put that energy into the house.
09:36Well, I definitely see the connection to your passion about Alexander the Great.
09:41It's everywhere in your home.
09:43Who's this guy?
09:44Is this Alexander the Great?
09:45Some people might have him as one of the philosophers, but to me, he's Zeus.
09:52Where does one get all this stuff?
09:54Is there just like an ancient Greek store?
09:56No, this is acquired from all over the world.
10:00Really?
10:01All of this stuff is so specific and unique to this house.
10:05When you move, are you taking this with you?
10:07Personally, I created this as a piece of art.
10:11It wouldn't be the same house.
10:12I see.
10:12If everything was stripped from it, some people might want to buy it without to save money,
10:17but it would not be the same if people did not get it as is.
10:21I was about to say, this is an experience.
10:24Yeah.
10:24Like, you've created your own world in here.
10:25You were not lying to me.
10:26Yeah, I mean, it would take...
10:28You were not lying to me.
10:29I wasn't lying.
10:32Comedy.
10:33Why don't we go into the lion's den?
10:35After you.
10:45After you.
10:48Oh.
10:52Stratus, this is so over the top.
10:55Like, this is nuts.
10:57Are those clouds moving?
10:58Yeah.
10:59Dude, this is awesome.
11:01You don't even know.
11:02Oh, my God.
11:03I've got it programmed with different clouds, thunderstorms, shooting stars.
11:08So you can change the weather.
11:10You are literally playing God.
11:11You could say that, or I'm playing with my remote control.
11:15So I can't help but notice a recurring motif of lions.
11:19What is the significance of lions to you?
11:21I mean, everywhere.
11:23It goes back to my connection with being an old soul in the ancient world.
11:28Match.
11:29This is your energy?
11:30For sure.
11:32And what is it?
11:33Is this your closet right here?
11:34Let's go.
11:35Check it out.
11:36That's my production office.
11:39Oh, this is not an office.
11:45Whoa.
11:47You got swords all over the place.
11:50Yeah, that's the vibe from Alexander.
11:52I can't get over all of the stuff you have.
11:55Hey, why don't you take a seat on the throne and be a king for a minute?
11:58Oh.
12:00Get your king on.
12:01Oh.
12:02And I'll even let you be a Greek god.
12:04Oh, yes.
12:04You can be Poseidon.
12:06I am King Poseidon.
12:10My bathing suit is wet.
12:14Give me that pendant back.
12:16I got demoted.
12:17I'll take you for a walk on the outside.
12:20All right.
12:21Another whole experience that's going to blow your mind.
12:26Oh, ho, ho, ho.
12:32We're going for a Greek villa here, yes.
12:35It could be Mykonos here.
12:37But there's also Indian elements there.
12:40It's like a villa vibe.
12:41This is perfect.
12:43You have put a lot of love and attention and work into this place.
12:48How do you feel about leaving?
12:51It's kind of like a happy, sad thing.
12:53I'm going to go to Greece.
12:55I'm envious.
12:56Enjoying the European lifestyle.
12:58In real life.
12:59In real life, yeah, yeah.
13:00Not the fake Hollywood ruins, but the real ruins.
13:02Stratus, this has been a wonderful afternoon.
13:05See you, mate.
13:06Thanks so much.
13:06I know, this is super fun.
13:08Good luck with everything.
13:09So where does ornate oasis land on the wild dial?
13:13A modern maximalist villa fit for Alexander the Great conquers originality
13:19with echoes of ancient history and mythology in every space.
13:23This home is devoted to its Mediterranean vibes.
13:27Channeling the powers of Zeus by changing the view above your bed is mythically wild.
13:34Yucca Valley, California is a serene desert environment just two hours outside of LA,
13:39known for healing and personal growth.
13:42You'll also find a home for sale that blends rugged rock skates with fluid artwork into one imaginative retreat.
14:00Hello, Jim.
14:02Jack.
14:03How are you, sir?
14:05What a pleasure to meet you.
14:06Ah, you as well.
14:07I'm Jim, and I'm selling my home, which is a beautiful piece of art.
14:12It's been a great chapter.
14:13As an avid golfer, I'm gonna go find another house in a warm part of the country.
14:19Can I show you inside?
14:20Please do, sir.
14:22Whoa!
14:27Oh, wow.
14:33Welcome to the Dreamcatcher.
14:35Did you name it that, or was it named that?
14:37The name came with a house with the previous owners.
14:40It's kind of a nod to the indigenous people in our country, the Native Americans.
14:45Sure.
14:45There's definitely kind of a spiritual component to this house.
14:50Yeah.
14:50When you got here, did it look exactly like this?
14:54Did you do any of this?
14:55No, I did nothing except just enjoy it.
14:58The previous owners transformed this.
15:00So they did it.
15:02They did.
15:02Look at all these pimmies.
15:03They don't make pimmies anymore.
15:05Oh, my gosh.
15:07Are these real pimmies?
15:08These are real life copper pennies.
15:12Guess how many we have in the floor here.
15:14I am terrible at this game.
15:17Uh, 5,000.
15:19You're close.
15:20I am?
15:21350,000.
15:24I'm not close at all.
15:26Why are you humoring me like this?
15:27I'd like to show you the wisdom tree next.
15:30I need all the wisdom I can get you.
15:32Come on over.
15:33This is so cool.
15:34Is this real wood?
15:35It's supposed to look like real wood.
15:37It does.
15:38Yeah.
15:38So the message in this wall, it's a yin and a yang symbol with the word balance underneath.
15:45And so this wall is meant to represent that symmetry.
15:49So did you just see this place online and were like, I gotta have it?
15:53It was actually the very first house I looked at.
15:56Wow.
15:57Right?
15:57Yeah, I love spontaneity.
15:59Well, it has certainly worked for you, sir.
16:01I had always heard about Joshua Tree.
16:04These trees and these boulders and this moonscape.
16:07And all of that is what had me intrigued about this place.
16:12Let me show you over to this part of the house.
16:15What is this?
16:16Ooh, this looks like an enchanted garden.
16:22Oh!
16:26Okay, so this would be my room.
16:30I mean, they didn't stop anywhere.
16:32Like, there are like stones.
16:33There's pennies in here.
16:34More pennies.
16:35Wait, 350,000?
16:37Is that what you said?
16:39I know.
16:39Wait, how many, how many dollars is that?
16:4235,000?
16:43You moved the decimal over two places.
16:46Anyway.
16:47$3,500.
16:49God.
16:55Can I show you the main bedroom?
16:57Happily.
16:57All right.
17:01Oh!
17:04Look at this bedroom.
17:06Oh, my gosh.
17:08So cool.
17:12This is one of my favorite places in the house.
17:14Oh.
17:15Is waking up in the morning and seeing the sunlight come through these colored glass walls.
17:21Look at this floor.
17:23This is like water.
17:24Right?
17:24Oh, it's like a koi pond.
17:26Exactly.
17:26A lot of the symbolism in this house with the lotus flowers and the koi fish.
17:32Yeah.
17:32And the butterflies.
17:33And the dragonflies.
17:35Dragonflies, yeah.
17:35It's all about a kind of a spiritual growing that we all go through.
17:41Oh, this is deep.
17:43Yeah, this is too.
17:45Can I show you my outside back patio?
17:48With great pleasure, sir.
17:52Right through the kitchen?
17:54Great.
17:56Oh, Jim, this almost looks fake.
18:03Wow.
18:05It's beautiful, isn't it?
18:09This is so nice.
18:11Let me show you this way.
18:12This way?
18:13Yes.
18:13Great.
18:15Oh!
18:17Ah!
18:20Oh, Kiyomi.
18:21This is actually the moon's lover.
18:24Oh.
18:25And she's supposed to represent a portal to the cosmos.
18:30Wow.
18:32Somebody's been doing her lunges.
18:37It's a pool.
18:43Oh, Jim.
18:45I love you so much.
18:47The pool overlooks this amazing scenery.
18:51There's a lot of space here.
18:53I've got a dome, cottage, there's a shed, and then there's just some incredible platforms
18:58up top.
18:59This place is just fantastic.
19:01Why are you leaving?
19:02You know, I'm a Sagittarius.
19:04There's a little bit of the just kind of moving on, searching a little bit, truth-seeking.
19:10Yeah?
19:10It's been a great chapter here, but I'm ready for a new chapter.
19:14Jim, this has been an absolute delight.
19:16Well, thanks very much, Jack.
19:17It's been a pleasure meeting you.
19:19Thanks for coming.
19:20Thank you, sir.
19:23You're vibing with the wild dial?
19:25A home specifically created to explore the intersection of architecture and spirituality
19:30is certainly original.
19:32Symbolism and spiritual elements are rooted in every room, showing a commitment to wellness
19:39and healing.
19:40And using 350,000 real pennies to create a custom tile floor defines what it means to be wild.
19:50Soon, one of these houses will take the wild prize.
19:54But first, let's get some updates on our current listings.
19:57The Dreamcatcher and Ornate Oasis are still available and showings continue.
20:03They're both optimistic the perfect buyers are just around the corner.
20:07Which is our wildest home.
20:09Let's see.
20:10Is a win for Cave Sweet Cave carved in stone?
20:14Will Ornate Oasis conquer them all?
20:17Or can Dreamcatcher capture a victory?
20:22And the wild winner is...
20:28Cave Sweet Cave.
20:30Ryan and Shay, how are you?
20:32Hey, Jack, how are you?
20:33You received a little something in the mail from me.
20:35You got it?
20:36We do.
20:36All right, well, let's go on and open that up right now.
20:43It's Little Jack.
20:45Little Jack boxes.
20:46Your house was the wildest of the bunch.
20:49What do you think?
20:49That's awesome.
20:51The competition was stiff, but this cave was the fave.
20:55What this home currently lacks in creature comforts, it definitely makes up for with its marriage of artistic craftsmanship and
21:02raw nature.
21:03It's a hand-built marvel that's wildly one of a kind.
21:08Well, thank you.
21:09Yeah, we're pretty tickled by it.
21:11But there's still more wild to come.
21:13I can't wait to see what's next.
21:16This is a vision.
21:18It is a big risk to have a very white apartment, especially New York.
21:23Oh, everybody's stepping in dog paint.
21:25If you're making a church into a home, is it kind of like unblessing it?
21:29I thought I was just signing a piece of paper that says you're no longer a church.
21:32Amen.
