00:00Why does he why is he still here? What do you like about David Stearns halfway through a five year
00:05contract?
00:06Yeah, listen, I mean, listen, David's a thoughtful.
00:10Listen, I'm in my conversations with him. He's incredibly thorough.
00:15You know, there aren't answers that I walk away and say, oh, you know, I don't agree with that.
00:21Or I mean, he's pretty, you know, buttoned down and knows what he's talking about.
00:27OK, we're two and a half years into a contract.
00:31Everyone forgets. Does he get any credit for 24? Does that not count?
00:36OK, and we almost made it to the World Series. And that was just two years ago.
00:42So it's a mixed record. OK, I mean, I'm not going to say it's going great.
00:47OK, but it's too early to really make evaluations.
00:51And I feel really strongly that if we're going to burn and churn, that's a terrible place to be.
00:57And every time you burn and churn, that guess what? The next time nobody wants to come.
01:02OK, is someone going to put their career in your hands if you're going to be, you know, short term
01:08oriented?
01:09And I have a contract. It's a five year contract. And we're going to live that contract out.
01:14Does that mean David Stearns is getting the full five years?
01:17Listen, I mean, I'm going forward with David as as our leader.
01:22Listen, there's no guarantees in anything. OK, I'm going to evaluate this as we go along.
01:27And listen, David knows that it hasn't, you know, it hasn't worked out the way he thought it would work
01:34out the way I thought it would work out.
01:36He'd be the first one to admit that he's made some mistakes.
01:39And this is a guy who's reflective. You know, what am I looking for?
01:44I'm looking for someone when you know, when things are going great, it's easy when things aren't going great.
01:50You know, are you reflective? Are you adaptable? Are you flexible?
01:54I believe David is. And I hear it. We'll figure out what changes that need to be made.
01:59But the change that's not going to be made is is is, you know, moving David out at this point.
02:05I'm just not going to do it.
