00:02Four weeks into the snow season and Perisher's front valley looks more like a field than a ski slope.
00:07To say it's disappointing would be an understatement.
00:10We've had some warmer weather, we've had some rain.
00:13At Thredbo they're skiing on grass, a big contrast to this time last year
00:18when the Snowy Mountains region was covered in powder.
00:21A bit disappointing for the kids because it's the first time to go to Perisher and not get it,
00:24but we'll make the most of it.
00:26We just want to tell them to somehow get us some snow.
00:30Local businesses are feeling the pinch.
00:32Not only are my staff not getting the work, but it's also the staff that will be buying their first
00:36set up,
00:36they're coming in to get their boot fits, they just don't have the work, they don't have the money,
00:39and that's part of the customer base that we're missing right now.
00:42Certainly there's a delay in hiring some staff, we have pushed that back.
00:47The resorts have been doing their best to make sure there's snow on the ground.
00:50Perisher has been making some with snow machines and trucking it to the slopes.
00:56We wanted to have at least something for our beginner and some of the school groups we've got down here,
01:01so we're trying to do our best to get anything open.
01:05But real snow could be on the way, with colder conditions forecast to arrive this week.
01:09Really looking positive for this weekend.
01:12Just wait, the snow's coming and it is going to happen, because it always does happen right?
01:15Just in time for the school holidays.
01:21Just in time for the local program involved.
01:22Just in time for January commodities we have planned for these plantations so that they can make sure that they
01:23sample.
