00:00A former Tynanweir Metro ticket office in Newcastle city centre will become a museum celebrating the history of the popular
00:08North East travel institution.
00:10The unit at Monument Station has been empty since 2015 after the travel shop that was on the premises closed.
00:18It will now host a pop-up exhibition telling the story of the Metro using photographs from the Nexus archives.
00:25These include images from construction back in the 1970s and from the present-day network.
00:31Nexus says the idea followed commemorative runs of old trains that were recently taken out of service.
00:38A spokesperson said further work is underway and an opening date is still to be confirmed.
