00:00We've been talking Anthony Davis off and on today.
00:03I want to pivot back to Brandon Ayuk, who is in the news after a lengthy video he put out
00:09about his San Francisco 49ers employers.
00:13We'll play a little clip of it for you here.
00:17This was Ayuk on social media over the weekend.
00:20All right, y'all.
00:22So I understand that a lot of y'all is new here.
00:25And so I'm going to just fill y'all in and give y'all the details so that everybody
00:32can understand the reason why the agent being fired is such an important detail in this whole
00:38story is because that agent is also the agent of the general manager for that one team.
00:51And that agent really started this whole s**t because I fired his ass, but he want to
00:58text my wife like he's smart.
01:00You don't ever text my wife.
01:02Your ass fired.
01:03Your ass grass.
01:04Get up out of here.
01:04Get going.
01:06So he is also the agent for the general manager of that team.
01:10And these s**t are all weird, weirdos, creepy predators.
01:17I would never, ever, ever f**k with these s**t.
01:21I would never, ever, ever f**k with these s**t.
01:25I don't care how long I got to wait to get to you, my baby.
01:29But if it involves f**king with them s**t first, I'm waiting.
01:33General manager going to pull up to my house.
01:35A weirdo.
01:37Like, bro, don't pull up to my house, uninvited, boy.
01:40F**king safe.
01:42But I knew his ass was going to do it.
01:45So I'm looking at my camera, my front door camera.
01:48I see a big old white boy, white man, former NFL safety.
01:56And I'm like, oh, hell no.
01:59And I know my wife is about to be back home soon.
02:02So I had to call my wife and say, uh, it's a big-ass white man at the house.
02:09I don't know what he's doing over there.
02:11He was not invited.
02:13Creepy.
02:14So if you're on your way home, just probably just spin the block a few times.
02:18Because I don't know what, bro, on the same general manager that tried to run me down and come apologize
02:25for his head coach.
02:28Because his head coach got a temperament of a f**king toddler.
02:32And was speaking out the side of his f**king mouth to me.
02:36Knowing that you got it, bro.
02:37You got it, bro.
02:38What am I going to do in here?
02:39Beat you up?
02:39Come on, bro.
02:40Like, you know, come on, bro.
02:42You just talking crazy because you know you can talk crazy.
02:46Brandon Ayuk is part of a video that he posted over the weekend.
02:51So we got reactions to that earlier in the show.
02:54We took calls on what people thought.
02:56I mean, the most notable or interesting thing about it was this admission that at some point John Lynch came
03:02to his home.
03:03And that Lynch was on his porch.
03:06And we had a big debate as to whether or not that was odd that Lynch came.
03:09But they can't get a hold of him.
03:10We don't know when that is.
03:11I think the more recent that that was, the more strange it would be.
03:15If this is after all of this, and I put that in quotes, has gone down, then yeah, that's a
03:18little odd.
03:19I would agree.
03:19I think if he was, I don't think, by the way, it's like a threat or, you know, he's treating
03:24this like, you know, John Lynch is there to fight him or something terrible.
03:26I think he was probably there to have a conversation.
03:28But there's not a whole lot to be salvaged.
03:31It seems like the divorce is imminent and you've both dug in at this point.
03:34So I don't know if going to his house makes a lot of sense now.
03:37But that could have been weeks ago, months ago.
03:39We have no idea.
03:39The first month you didn't show up to your rehab, the first 50 text messages you didn't respond to, or
03:44whatever.
03:44Yeah.
03:45So, again, without context, you can make that sound however you want.
03:50A large former NFL safety showed up to a wide receiver's home.
03:54Or they couldn't reach him.
03:56I mean, they're trying to find him.
03:57And he's hoping he's okay.
03:59However you frame that is different.
04:00The Niners could frame it as a welfare check.
04:02Like, we're just making sure our guy's okay.
04:04He's not showing up.
04:05He's not answering.
04:06We need to see what's going on.
04:07And Brandon Ayoub could say, that's threatening and ridiculous.
04:10I don't mess with you.
04:11I don't want you around.
04:12I've told you to leave me alone.
04:13And then you came to my house?
04:15Yeah, when Robert Stack's doing the Unsolved Mysteries style, they could have a reenactment with some creepy music.
04:19And he rang the doorbell.
04:21Ding, dong.
04:22Don, don, don.
04:23It's terrifying.
04:24Or, again, it could be the most innocent thing in the world.
04:27Again, context really matters there.
04:28If you keep waiting for anyone, someone who is knowledgeable of the situation to come out and defend Brandon Ayoub,
04:35that would make me feel a lot differently, I think.
04:38It would make me feel a lot better about any of the things he has to say.
04:41There are a lot of players who have left San Francisco.
04:43If you want to say, well, 49ers players aren't going to come out and take his side over their coaching
04:48staff, their GM, probably true.
04:50There are plenty of guys who come and go in this league.
04:53There are a lot of guys that are around.
04:54There are also players who talk to players within the building.
04:58Nobody has come out to defend this person.
05:01And if the executives are against him and his agent, who he's now fired or left him or whatever happened,
05:07is against him, and his teammates that have spoke out are against him, where am I giving him any of
05:14the benefit of the doubt, I guess, is the question.
05:17Here's a third party that has nothing to do with anything.
05:20T.J. Hushmanzada.
05:22I don't know the exact relationship between him and Ayuk previously, but I had read somewhere that he had coached
05:29him, instructed him on route running and some things, and then at one point in time, they were pretty tight,
05:33him and Brandon Ayuk.
05:35And like many people in Ayuk's inner circle or sphere or whatever, that's no longer the case.
05:40But this is what T.J. Hushmanzada said, who has been one of the most loud detractors of Ayuk now
05:47for an extended period of time, which again tells you something, whatever that is, I don't know.
05:51But they were at one point very close.
05:53This is what he said about Ayuk on a podcast this weekend.
05:56He might not step foot in the NFL stadium again if he don't shut the f**k up.
06:03Like, what is he doing?
06:07Like, Adam Peters, where the can, this is my, Adam Peters, you sign Brandon Ayuk, the commanders should fire you
06:16the day you sign him.
06:18Do it, like, what are you thinking?
06:19Like, what makes y'all any different than the San Francisco 49ers?
06:24You don't think he gonna do to you what he's doing to them?
06:27Like, I don't understand this.
06:29If I'm Jane Daniels, B.A. is my boy.
06:32If it doesn't work out, is he still gonna be my boy?
06:35So do I even wanna see if it will work out?
06:37Cause I may ruin a relationship over sports.
06:41And so, I don't know, like, what's going on.
06:45I don't know why he's doing these things.
06:48But, as players, as a former player, and as players that are watching this, that are current players, bro, the
06:56NFL is rolling with or without you.
06:58Get your ass on the bus and enjoy the ride or get your ass off.
07:02That's T.J. Hushmanzada to one of his former mentees, I guess?
07:08Yeah.
07:08Reminds you of Dave Chappelle.
07:09Oh, you could.
07:11Shut the, you know, anyway.
07:13Yeah.
07:15It's pretty simple to me.
07:17And his point, though, that I wanted to kind of use as a window for my own thinking is, and
07:22again, here's what I'm open to the possibility of.
07:25Washington has no interest.
07:27I'm open to that.
07:27I'm open they have no interest and they don't feel compelled to tell anybody that they have no interest.
07:31It'll just materialize that there's no interest.
07:32He doesn't sign here from when he gets cut.
07:34That's a mistake if that's what they're doing.
07:36I agree 100%.
07:36If they don't want to sign Brandon Ayuk and if for some time, whether it's a week or a day
07:41or a month and a half now, if they have known they're not planning on signing Brandon Ayuk, that they
07:46don't want him here, and they just let everyone assume they're going to sign him, that to me is a
07:53mistake.
07:53There's no reason not to come out and say that we're not interested.
07:57Yeah, I find it baffling.
07:59If that's the strat, if that's the plan.
08:01The strat?
08:02Yeah.
08:02If that's the strat, okay.
08:04Do you mean strategy?
08:05Yeah.
08:05Is that the first time you've ever said strat like that?
08:07I think so.
08:08Okay.
08:08Is there any good reason?
08:10I've never heard that.
08:10That's what my kids say.
08:11Okay.
08:12I have a new strat.
08:13It's like, okay, well, I don't know what that means.
08:14Just what you're playing.
08:15If that's a strategy, by Godspeed, I think it's wrong.
08:18I think it's silly.
08:19But the only way possible that you're going, maybe this is a 3D chess, we let them get weakened, talking
08:26about the 49ers, and we don't have to do anything because we're under an obligation to sign him or whatever.
08:30But I'm willing to accept that as a possibility.
08:33I don't think it is, but let's just say that I'm willing to accept it.
08:36If Washington's interested, I think less of them.
08:38If Washington is interested, if Adam Peters is interested, if he's going, this is something we want to be in
08:43business with, I don't believe you anymore when it comes to culture, brotherhood, blah, blah, blah.
08:48I don't believe any of that.
08:49That's rhetoric.
08:49That's nonsense.
08:50It's just lip service.
08:52Did you put the, I hate saying this word, I throw up my mouth a little bit, but you put
08:55the commander tag on that guy?
08:56Which video gave him the commander tag?
09:00Gross.
09:01Vomit sounds.
09:02This is like the analogy I used with our friend Kevin Sheehan.
09:05Let me say this.
09:06Hold on.
09:06The analogy I used with Kevin earlier was this.
09:09It's like if I'm a dad, I don't have a daughter, but if I did, and she came to me
09:12as a teenager, and she's like, daddy, I think this man is awesome.
09:16Buy me birth control.
09:16And this is the guy it's going to be with, and he's the worst dude of all time.
09:21She brings home an absolute turd blossom, and I'm supposed to be fine with it?
09:24I think less of your judgment.
09:26I'm disappointed in you.
09:27If you want this, I didn't do a good job raising you.
09:31I failed.
09:33All right?
09:33What's your stripper name going to be?
09:35Candy?
09:35What are we doing?
09:37The fact that you might be interested in this buffoon is, I don't say disqualifying, but it's closer to that
09:44than this is sharp.
09:46Shrewd business.
09:48Because I think less of this regime, I think, than a lot of people do.
09:51And I'm hoping I'm wrong, and this year's a bounce back, and it's wonderful.
09:54I think they've been making the same mistake for three straight years.
09:57And they got away with it in year one, doubled down in year two, and they're about to do it
10:01again in year number three.
10:02And which mistake is that?
10:04The wide receiver room of a guy that may be 20th best in the league and a bunch of cast
10:08-offs, jags, and fourth-rounders to try to fill the other void.
10:11A tight end that I like, I think is going to be good, but hasn't proven himself to be a
10:15consistent, high-volume pass catcher in the NFL.
10:17And we'll just have the quarterback wave his arm over it and make it better.
10:20So just lack of weapons.
10:22Yeah.
10:22Because they were actually aggressive and spent money this year like they refused to in the past.
10:26On defense.
10:27Third most money in the league.
10:28My paradigm, and this goes into a bigger picture, is you have a rookie quarterback on a rookie deal, and
10:33you've got tens of millions in salary cap space year over year over year, and you haven't done everything you
10:37possibly could on offense.
10:39This offseason featured, we got Chig, we got Rashad White, which is, yay, parade coming, and they moved on from
10:44a center.
10:45In the hopes that Nick Gallagher is pretty much as good.
10:47What'd you do with the savings?
10:49Nothing.
10:49Congrats.
10:50Awesome.
10:50Maybe the savings can go up and down Constitution Avenue for a parade.
10:54That's what's been going on here.
10:55And I've been workshopping this, and I'm frustrated.
10:57If their solve is this, if this is the plan, that plan sucks.
11:02And again, I'm very open to the possibility that they have no interest.
11:05That's fine.
11:06If they do, I don't trust their judgment anymore.
11:09So you're basically saying hypothetically, if they want this person, that you are bothered by that.
11:15Yeah.
11:16And you think less of Adam Peters in this front office.
11:18Yes, 100%.
11:19So I actually want to pose that question to people.
11:21If they go after Brandon Ayuk, how will you feel about the front office?
11:28Will you feel differently?
11:30Because I would imagine there are plenty of people that would actually like the move and would feel better about
11:35them.
11:35If they feel like you do, Danny, that they haven't done enough for Jaden Daniels for an extended period of
11:41time, that they haven't been aggressive enough in adding weapons and wide receivers, that three straight offseason they wanted to
11:47go get a really good wide out and they didn't do it.
11:49This is them finally doing it.
11:51So you could, again, someone else hypothetically, look at that and go, actually, this is the happiest I've been with
11:56Adam Peters.
11:57They haven't gotten a 1,300-yard receiver.
11:58Look at that.
11:59He's rolling the dice and trying to get a weapon, even if it goes away from his normal philosophy of
12:03commander tag and culture and brotherhood and doing everything that we want you to do with your teammates and playing
12:11for Washington, not yourself and whatever else.
12:14I am not going to celebrate when they add Ayuk.
12:20I still think they're going to, by the way.
12:21That is my prediction.
12:22I think if they didn't want him, they'd have said something.
12:24I take their silence as being complicit in the idea that they're waiting for him to come free.
12:28I don't think they want to say anything because they're not allowed to because then you get into tampering and
12:33all kinds of stuff.
12:34I think they're just sitting back waiting.
12:35The moment he gets cut, that's when the conversations will happen.
12:38I also don't think, is Brandon Ayuk acting like this with the commander's football and the game use football and
12:44the pictures of him and Jaden Daniels riding roller coasters and whatever else he's showing on all his videos?
12:50Is he doing that if he doesn't have a pretty good idea that they want him and that they're going
12:53to bring him there?
12:54It would be even more weird, not to say that these videos aren't already strange, but it would be even
12:59more odd to me if he's doing all of that as some calculated gamble when he has no idea how
13:04they actually think and he hasn't had any conversations with Daniels.
13:07Speaking of which, Daniels has done nothing wrong here.
13:10I want to reiterate that I think Daniels' judgment and professionalism since the day he got to the league has
13:16been first class, but is he providing any counsel?
13:21Where is he in all of this?
13:22I do wonder.
13:23If the argument made by the Ayuk backers is when this guy gets added to Washington, you won't have to
13:30worry about him anymore because Jaden will fix it.
13:33Why doesn't Jaden start fixing it now?
13:36That would be what I'm interested in.
13:38Has he texted him and said, dude, maybe less videos?
13:41Has he hit him up and said, hey, we're close, man.
13:44Me and Adam, we got this thing planned out here.
13:46Just lay low for a little while.
13:48And is he sending those texts and he's not listening?
13:51Why is he going to start listening when he comes here?
13:53Or is it that latest video was hilarious?
13:55LOL.
13:55I don't know.
13:56That's what I don't know.
13:57Is it just laughing emoji like, you know, get that belt ready for October?
14:02You're my guy.
14:03I like, I don't know if that's the case.
14:05That's talk about disappointing.
14:07That's super disappointing.
14:08But I doubt it.
14:08I mean, I think very highly of Daniels, his character, his professionalism.
14:12And like your buddy is looking like a fool publicly.
14:15Maybe provide a little counsel here.
14:18Just as an aside.
14:19But how would I feel about Peters?
14:23I think you could say I'd be disappointed.
14:26I'm not upset.
14:27I'm not going as hard as you or I'm like questioning the whole regime.
14:30And to me, it would feel like a desperate move to an extent, though.
14:35That's what worries me some.
14:37This would feel like they may not admit that they need a ton of help at receiver.
14:43They may not admit that they don't have enough weapons.
14:45They may not admit that actually we're not that confident going into this season that
14:50we've got it all laid out, figured out.
14:52But when you do this kind of deal with this kind of player where you bring someone in after
14:57they acted just as bad as you can act publicly from a sheer teammate, like part of a 53 person
15:05organization standpoint, and you're in line to employ them right away.
15:11That reeks of desperation to me.
15:13Like, were you not in on Michael Pittman because you thought you'd get Iyuk later?
15:16You know what I mean?
15:17Like, I don't know.
15:18That's what I would love to know, too.
15:20When did they decide, if they do want Iyuk, that he was their guy?
15:24And this is what I've railed against all along, is if this is the plan, meaning it's fine
15:29when you get Alec Pierce.
15:30That's a complimentary skill set.
15:31It's fine when you get Dobbs.
15:32That's a slot guy, kind of.
15:34But whatever.
15:34Iyuk's the plan.
15:35That's what we're going to hang our hat on.
15:37Oh, my God.
15:38Oh, my God.
15:39Is he a move or was he always the move?
15:42Yeah.
15:42He's wide receiver, too.
15:44We're not going to say that in press conferences because we need to build up these other guys.
15:48And for all we know, maybe somehow, some way he doesn't end up here.
15:52But yeah, a move's different than the move.
15:54For me, I think even a veteran minimum to bring him in here to kick the tires, his action should
16:00be disqualifying.
16:02If you're running a serious organization where you're trying to tell players that how they
16:07act and operate and being a good teammate and being a model member of the organization
16:13matters, to go sign this player, give him money, and employ him is a joke.
16:17So yeah, I'll be disappointed in that.
16:20But it won't change how I question them, think about them overall, or change how much I question
16:26them.
16:26I guess all it would do to me is I would feel like there's an urgency and maybe a little
16:30more of a fire under their butt than I thought.
16:33Because I do think it would reek of some desperation going into year three.
16:36I don't think you'd do that in your first season or in your second season.
16:39And now it tells me, oh, they feel some pressure to get this thing right.
16:43They're going to try something they wouldn't have tried before.
16:46Yeah, I could see that.
16:47But I could also, I've been also going, if you're so desperate, why are you sending a center
16:52that started for you for multiple years away for nothing?
16:54Where's the salary cap spending on every possible option to make sure even your depth is good
16:59at different spots?
17:00Like, it's desperate in one area once, but then they're not desperate everywhere else.
17:05They spent some of the most money in the league this all season.
17:07On defense and have the third most cap space.
17:09Right, but you're saying, like, where's the money?
17:11I mean, they gave out a $100 million contract, which is nothing like they've ever done or wanted
17:16to do to Adafi Owe.
17:17And they spent, I keep saying third, it might actually, I have to look up the numbers.
17:21Well, they spent a ton of money on defense.
17:22I think it might have been the number one most money in free agency this all season.
17:24Yeah, they spent a lot of money on defense.
17:26My point is, it's like, it's reflecting desperation now.
17:28It's like, well, they're only desperate for this, whereas they weren't desperate in any
17:33other area, and they have a ton of cap space left.
17:34Well, I've said this to you before.
17:36On offense.
17:36I think at the highest level, from ownership on down, they philosophically just disagree with
17:41you.
17:41They're seeing it differently.
17:42You want weapons, offense, weapons, offense.
17:45They think you win championships through defense.
17:47I think both can be true.
17:48You have so much cap space, and you don't have a ton of weapons on offense.
17:52See what I'm saying?
17:52Like, I'm glad they improved the defense.
17:54I think that was smart.
17:54I can't, with a rookie deal quarterback, have tens of millions of dollars every year and
17:59have my plan be a broken down tight end that miraculously performed well in year one,
18:03and a band of misfit toys as my receiver opposite Tara McLaurin.
18:07That's multiple years they've done that, and they're doing it again.
18:10And I find it astounding with all the cap space they've got.
18:13Again, I think you could put two balls in the air.
18:15Ball number one, hey, the defense had to get younger, faster, and better.
18:17They did that.
18:18Mission accomplished.
18:19Big checkmark for me.
18:20They saw the fire, and they put it out.
18:23The other side is, we're going with Iuke.
18:25That's the solve.
18:26Otherwise, it's Trelon Burks.
18:27Cool.
18:28They spent $259 million.
18:31Only the Titans and the Raiders spent more money this offseason.
18:35$160 million in guaranteed money.
18:37I think three teams guaranteed more money.
18:40That would have been the Titans, the Raiders, and the Colts.
18:43They're top three in overall money.
18:45They're top four in guaranteed money that they spent this offseason.
18:49$800-636-106.
