00:00Well today is expected to be the very hottest day of the year and while that
00:05might normally be cause for celebration paddling pools and taking some nice
00:09deserved rest in the Sun for people here in Headcorn it's a very different story
00:14it also rings true for some of the surrounding areas like Spardin, Pluckley
00:18and Tunbridge Wells where they're experiencing low water supply or low
00:22water pressure it was first noticed at about 5.30 a.m. this morning by
00:26Southeast Water and they have apologized but the issues they say were caused by
00:30burst mains in Bindenden's High Street and here in Bindenden Road in Headcorn not
00:35because of the hot weather a spokesperson said we are currently working to repair
00:40a burst water main in Bindenden that is also affecting Headcorn and Smarden we're
00:44sorry to our customers where a burst water main is causing low pressure or a
00:47supply interruption we are working as fast as possible to restore supplies we
00:52understand that losing supply or a drop in pressure is frustrating especially in
00:56the heat that we are experiencing they've added that the burst main isn't related
01:00to the hot weather conditions and that a fleet of tankers are injecting water into
01:04the network at strategic points now here in Headcorn I don't know what you're
01:08feeling around the county but here it's 34 degrees and it does come under that red
01:13heat health alert that we're seeing across the southeast today which according
01:17to the UK Health Security Authority indicates a risk to life even healthy
01:22people they advise that simple actions like staying hydrated and staying out of
01:27the Sun during the peak hours where the most heat is occurring are amazing to do
01:32for your health but for people here in Headcorn it certainly isn't simple since
01:37they're experiencing that low water pressure and low supply Kent County Council
01:41have also said they're closing all household waste recycling centers earlier
01:45today and tomorrow to protect customers and staff so you can't book any slots
01:50there there's also news that schools are closing in certain areas
01:53southeast water have also marked Kent as a county as having a red alert for
01:57their water levels they say it is particularly and dangerously low almost
02:01towards a complete minimum they're asking for residents to pause the use of
02:05their hoses while these levels are at that minimum but as I say not only is
02:10there that red heat health alert there's also the red water alert so
02:14southeast water are advising people to use as little water as possible
02:17including not using your hoses but for people here in Headcorn experiencing
02:22some of this truly oppressive heat without running water for their safety
02:27they're hoping that it will come back as soon as possible
