37:36I'm very pleased to join you today and I congratulate those who have completed the senior
37:45command and staff college course. You arrived here as experienced professionals
37:59and are now living with broader knowledge, sharper strategic awareness and greater responsibility.
38:11I want to acknowledge and thank your families and friends. They share the burdens of military
38:20service and your conduct should always honor their sacrifices and support.
38:30I also thank the faculty for their dedication and the RDF leadership for ensuring that this courage
38:43is equipped to uphold the highest standards of excellence.
38:54This cohort brings together officers from the RDF and from partner and allied countries across the region
39:11and beyond. I thank them for being good partners and friends and joining us
39:26for the good conduct and completion of this course.
39:35the values, the value of the connections that you have made here cannot be overstated.
39:51When officers who trained together meet in operations, regional engagements or moments of crisis
40:01they already possesses, they already possess an understanding that strengthens cooperation.
40:11This course was designed to enhance your ability to navigate complex and sometimes seemingly impossible situations.
40:26There are, however, certain qualities that cannot
40:35give you that you must personally cultivate.
40:45The first is courage.
40:51You will not always have guarantees and for some this can create a paralysis
41:00and courage is what enables a leader to act decisively despite uncertainty and competing pressures.
41:18The second is judgment.
41:24As your responsibilities increase, so will the consequences of your decisions.
41:35Good judgment is developed through experience, collaboration and the humility to learn
41:45to learn from mistakes and adjust the course when necessary.
41:56The third is purpose,
42:02which comes from knowing precisely what you are fighting for.
42:15The third is purpose is anchored in protecting our people and sovereignty.
42:39While advancing the continued transformation of our country.

42:56is not whether you can lead,
43:03but how you lead, but how you lead.
43:09These three qualities must be demonstrated
43:19and renewed every day.
