00:44growing a little bit bigger than we thought it was going to be but um it's been a fun process
00:51um not every day is fun it's very up and down as many of the uh playmaker and uh everyone

00:58would probably tell you in terms of getting you know episodes recorded sometimes but um it's been
01:03it's been a fun process yeah it's grown beyond what we thought it would be and I think it's really

01:10for the guys to have like a tangible piece of IP that can also benefit from all of the work

01:15they do on the court um you know we feel it in the show's growth we feel it in the
01:20listenership we
01:21feel it in the sponsorship we certainly feel it in the demand for live events so it's just cool to
01:27have this thing that we're all building together that can really you know benefit from uh from all
01:31the work that they do yeah it's incredible I mean you guys obviously have history off the
01:37court and in real life so it makes it amazing to listen to just the banter and
01:41and the warmth of everything but I mean just reading on this event too again it's the second
01:47live show that you guys are having and then it sold out in 90 seconds like that's insane
01:53like how does the championship make this so much better you know what I mean like I feel like I'm
02:01reading in um you know just teaser for the event it's like a love letter to New York and that's
02:06really
02:06cool to see in here um can you guys speak on that on just kind of like the whirlwind of
02:11the
02:11championship and the momentum carrying into the event um yeah I mean you know obviously we did uh
02:18you know what the week after uh we did a live show at MSG and I think that had held
02:23like 6,000 people
02:24but um you know that sold out extremely quickly and I think we had at one point um you can
02:31buy
02:31tickets on Ticketmaster and at one point there was like 27 plus I saw at 27 like thousand people
02:37whatever like in the queue to buy a ticket so um you know obviously there's been a boom there and
02:42um we normally do it at Central Park the last two years we've done it at Central Park and I
02:47think that
02:48holds roughly like 4,100 or 4,200 or some change whatever that is and you know we did it
02:55this year
02:55and you know that's kind of sold out and like you said in 90 seconds so um we were like
03:01what what what
03:03can we do so we're changing the the venue to Randall's Island and we were able to um host more
03:09people um there were like 10,000 people on the uh the wait list and I think uh I mean
03:14Matt and Joe
03:15and all that can probably say you know what you know percent of it but I think it was probably
03:19like
03:2060 or 70 percent of the people on that wait list was like yeah like we're we're good you know
03:24you
03:25find somewhere and it would do it um but no it's it's grown uh tremendously you know partly and part
03:33of that championship but um it's fun and I think it's gonna make the live show um that much better
03:38um because we're at a bigger venue uh can do a little bit more around the show with with um
03:45activities
03:46and uh those kind of things Adam or Joe you can jump in but I think it was like 85
03:5190 percent of the
03:52people that were like let's let's do it like let's let's let's stay at Randall's so we were trying
03:56to decide how we wanted to approach it because obviously it's like you know Randall's is um
04:03it's just a little bit of a different experience in Central Park and the last thing that you want
04:06is people to think they bought something for one thing and then they get something else but like
04:09there was nothing but excitement across the board um and so we're excited to give them like an even
04:14better experience I love it um and speaking of the wives there was high demand for that episode
04:21that they were in which I personally loved will they be back in the next season or hell no they're
04:28not gonna be back um no hell no we're not putting them back um they need their own podcasts they
04:35had
04:36their time I mean maybe I don't know we haven't really talked about you know we might bring them
04:40out but yeah we'll see we might bring them out on stage we'll see yeah I mean I'm seeing all
04:44these um
04:44um these guests that are slated to come which are great names um and obviously of course New York
04:51Zone um also Mariska Hargitay I even asked in like email questions to Jalen like are you really gonna
04:57be on SVU like you guys have been on a heater all summer um how's post championship life been and

05:05mean this for the both of you I mean Matt you're just as involved in all this like how's that
05:09kind of
05:10been I feel like it's been crazy for you guys like being everywhere I hope you get a vacation soon
05:16um we we got a little bit of uh of downtime like August we're out east and um nice I've
05:23kind of
05:24told everybody I'm like yeah I mean I think I'm doing like two or three you know brand stuff but
05:29all
05:29of those are in the Hampton so I'm just like August that's kind of my time to just kind of
05:35work out
05:35kind of get away from the stuff but uh you know I've been able to relax we went to Bordeaux
05:40and
05:40Capri and Rome so got a little bit of time away a couple casual places um from my perspective it
05:48was
05:48um and Josh probably feels the same way but it's probably the funnest but also most chaotic like
05:55personal mix of like personal and professional time really ever because the one thing that caught me
06:00by surprise is like you never really hear about what happens after the win you could just kind of
06:05think it's all like celebrations and fun but I'll be honest like I don't think they got to really
06:10even enjoy it till multiple multiple weeks after um probably when he got to Europe and then even when
06:16he got back to Europe he had an equally crazy week with Fanatics Fest and World Cup and all these
06:20appearances so you know from the moment the buzzer sounds it's press it's you know all of these
06:24different things and then it's trying to celebrate with your teammates out pretty late and then 6 a.m good
06:29morning America 7 a.m you know today's show whatever it is so they were just running a million miles
06:34an
06:34hour immediately for you know for the two week to two following it and obviously I was I was kind
06:40of there with him for a lot of it and it was just uh it was it was it was
06:44just 24 7 it was just it was
06:46something um you know brand deals and parades and just you know integrations and it was just it was a
06:54lot yeah I mean I can't imagine you explain it perfectly I mean that is what people do want to
06:58you know it's like what's going on after like the the craziness in a great way but um it is
07:04a lot
07:04um you know were you guys at any weddings this summer at all yeah I I went to two I
07:13went to Donovan
07:13uh Donovan and Coco's wedding and then I just uh we just got back from uh um Kat and Jordan's
07:21wedding
07:21it looked beautiful I hope you brought some candy for them yeah they uh it was really nice uh both

07:30them were uh really cool uh ceremonies receptions um so it was it was cool it was good they were
07:37both
07:37good vibes I love that um and back to the show when you guys you know put on the show
07:45and everything
07:45are you going to touch on you know how you guys are feeling now going into the new season of

07:52after the championship you know a couple changes anything like that will you guys touch on anything
07:58like Mitchell Robinson now not there and the east is a little shot cold yeah I'm I'm I'm sure we'll
08:05we'll talk about it um especially at that point you know when training camp is you know right around
08:10the corner so we'll sure talk about it talk about you know obviously like you said Mitch's
08:14uh departure and um you know obviously what I'm sure the the Toronto trade is probably going to go
08:22through now and you know Giannis stuff so we'll definitely talk about all that stuff um you know
08:29then and um you know what to look forward to and etc what do you guys get like I mean

08:36think you might not really because you're just so like you always talk about how close you feel to the
08:41fan base and stuff like that do you guys ever get nervous before these live shows like it's very
08:46different than recording compared to the massive audience and putting on a show in an event see yeah
08:52tell me I do and I also maybe Josh will probably say no but I don't know I feel like
08:59it's very
09:00different going out and playing in front of you know 20,000 people which is what he's done his whole
09:05career again Josh not trying to speak for you but going out and and doing something like this and
09:09like entertaining you know just doing it in a different way at least for all I guess I'll just
09:13speak for myself I think it is definitely a little bit nerve-wracking um the moment before you go out
09:19but then once once you go out like we know we have each other and like you said we've done
09:23it so many
09:24times we you sort of get into that flow where like it does just kind of feel like a studio
09:27episode
09:28and we know like we all have each other's backs the only thing that is a little bit unpredictable is
09:32like crowd reactions to certain stuff and having to kind of like play off the crowd and
09:35if someone says something that's funny maybe acknowledging it etc so um I think it is a
09:41little you know I'll I do get a little bit nervous but very quickly the nerves you know the nerves
09:45settle and we just have a good time yeah I mean I'll say for me I'll probably probably the first
09:50time
09:50I was a little nervous because I'm just like oh let's see how this goes our first time doing it
09:53but
09:53like since then it's been kind of I mean it's it's it's pretty um you know all those who are
09:59here
10:00are are there um they listen to the podcast all the time um so it's just like they know who
10:06we are
10:07so they're there for kind of who we are and the personality so it's just like you just kind of
10:11go
10:11out there and just be yourself that when we did the live show after the championship that one
10:17I wouldn't say I wasn't nervous but I was more anxious because obviously that that got aired on
10:23ESJN the night before so you're sitting there like it's different because it's not just like a fun
10:28like block party where you're able to just kind of just have fun to do it like you got to
10:32do it
10:32but you got to stick to a schedule so it's like you're trying to get these things we got Stephen
10:36A Stephen A you know we're here in front of producer like all right we got to move on and

10:40like keeps just keeps talking so um not nervousness not not really too more uh too much anymore
10:48hopefully we get some more smiles out of Jalen I think after the NBA cup and the championship
10:54we're set for it yeah we'll see most likely um but I do I do love that you guys are
11:04doing this and
11:04I'm glad that you guys are doing it like right before the season starts I feel like that'll get
11:09a lot of eyeballs get a lot of headlines and I feel like it'll let you guys answer all the
11:15questions
11:15that you need to before you go into the season you know I mean I feel like before anybody gets
11:18to
11:19badger you before you start the new season yeah um you know that's part of the reason obviously
11:23why we do it you know at that point but uh just having a podcast in general obviously you're able
11:29to kind of control some of the narrative of um what you want to talk about or you know give
11:34people
11:35you know either a first look or your own point of view on certain um events or things that's
11:41happening before the year during the year so uh that's partly the reason why we have the pod
11:46is so we're able to go out there kind of control our own kind of narrative and um you know
11:53give
11:54people our own personal uh you know point of view of things I love that and what will this next
12:02season
12:02of the pod like reflecting on everything that you guys have done the success of it going into a new
12:07season of the podcast is there's things that you guys are like okay let's not do that let's do more
12:12of this like how will this kind of be different or how will you build off of it the both
12:16of you
12:16I think we're always trying to innovate and do different things whether it's new types of
12:21guests that expose us to different audiences or um you know different formats and segments that
12:27that you know bring out new new elements obviously this past season we did like a thanksgiving episode
12:32where we had teammates on and we did christmas episode with the wives so stuff like that's really
12:36fun um I will say I think early on when the show was new and and and Josh and Jalen
12:41were still
12:42kind of growing a little bit more in their careers we felt like we had a lot of guests on
12:45to help grow the show and I think one thing that changed this year is we felt very confident
12:50without having guests and trusting in the fact that like people people want to listen to the three
12:54of us banter and the two of them talk about what they're seeing you know on the court during the
12:58season so just getting more comfortable with with that and and really giving people um you know
13:04the reason to tune in every week um and and not necessarily not having everything be interview
13:09based obviously we'll still have like amazing guests but um but yeah we're season four so we've
13:14been doing it for a while now and I think we just want to build on what's working and
13:17try and pivot where we can you know with what's not and keep our foot on the gas with the
13:22live
13:22events and you know just continue to have this be like a an outlet for the guys during the season
13:28um to be able to say what they're saying because we know everyone else is going to say it so
13:32um it's
13:33a cool opportunity for them to to you know own that narrative as well and I always tell people
13:37too like even when I talk to different athletes who have different ventures um outside the game
13:42too like it's so important to set yourself up for after and again not that that's even any time close
13:48but like I just think it's so important to have something that is yours and your own like you guys
13:53were saying you can control that narrative and I also meant to ask random but we brought up candy
13:59before are you still an ambassador for Mike and Ikes yeah yeah I'm obsessed and you still do the
14:06candy before each game yep oh my god that's hysterical I love it that's that's one of the
14:14pre-game uh rituals routines I love it I'm glad you keep up with it and um I also wanted
14:20to know
14:21after you know post-championship life um last question but is there anything like the fans don't
14:28know that you guys about your celebrations or what you guys all did together or anything that's special
14:34that you kind of always like are like yeah that was a good night like we we crushed that or
14:39anything
14:41that I want out in the public uh probably not uh no I mean it was one of those things
14:47where
14:47obviously we're uh we're celebrating um you know almost every night um and you know enjoying the
14:56enjoying each other's company and those you know you kind of always do that uh at the end of the
15:02year um last year we did the same thing in terms of um obviously we lost and you know it
15:08kind of
15:08you know it came out like oh real partying and then like tips got fired like the next day or
15:12something like that or the day before but it's like you know you you always want to uh go out
15:18and
15:18celebrate you know at the end of every year like with that team because at the end of the day
15:22like
15:22that team uh in its entirety is never going to be back together uh you're not going to have that
15:29same
15:29locker room guys are going to go in guys are going to go out so um no I mean we
15:33we had a bunch of
15:34times where we were able to go out and celebrate as a as a team and as a whole and
15:38um I'll I'll leave
