00:00I see her as taking a lot more money out of the system than bringing in.
00:03I mean, I'll give her credit for the fire station and stuff like that.
00:06But if there's no one who lives here anymore or can't afford to live here
00:09because she's not willing to stand up to Donald.
00:13There's a whole bunch on there.
00:15She has a rig, though.
00:17She has a video.
00:19She has a tripod, at least.
00:21Yeah.
00:26Okay, let's start with you, Rachel.
00:28Hi, Rachel.
00:29Hi, how are you?
00:30Go ahead.
00:31There's been a lot of discussion in the last couple of years
00:33about people being unhappy with Senator Collins' folks on judicial nominees.
00:39Can you talk a little bit about how you would consider...
00:44Yeah.
00:45I mean, I'm pretty familiar with that, obviously, in the state Senate.
00:50I've nominated a lot of people.
00:52I mean, I think paying attention to the hearings, getting my questions in early on
00:58so that other people, if I'm not on that committee, could ask them, stuff like that.
01:01But I'd want to hear from people back here, too, about how they feel about this.
01:06I mean, it's their nominee also.
01:10But one thing I haven't been willing to do is just rubber stamp nominees because it's Democrat
01:16or Republican, and I'll continue to be like that.
01:19I mean, I'll vote for them on their merits and what I believe.
01:23I believe they're going to do a good job.
01:25Would you automatically oppose all of them?
01:27You're going to Channel 8?
01:29Right here.
01:30Would you automatically oppose all of them?
01:33No, I wouldn't automatically.
01:35Just like LePage.
01:37Sorry.
01:37No, no, you're good.
01:38You're good.
01:39Let me be the bad guy.
01:39Let's go to Channel 8.
01:40This is on behalf of our reporter, Bonnie Bishop, that we even know we're up.
01:44I'm back.
01:45Our reporter, Bonnie Bishop, that we even know we're up.
01:48The sweat castors, the sheriff's event today that was canceled.
01:51Is there any reason for that?
01:53For me?
01:54For the campaign?
01:55Yeah.
01:56When did that happen?
01:56Oh, maybe because I was an aristic.
01:58I don't know.
01:59Okay.
01:59I'm not really sure.
02:01My schedule is not always something I know about way ahead of time.
02:05But, I mean, yeah, my son had a baby shower.
02:09This is for my son and partner.
02:10So, I was in a aristic.
02:11I left around 6 this morning.
02:13So, maybe that's why.
02:14I don't know.
02:15I love the sheriff.
02:17I know that.
02:17Andrew, Andrew, are you ready?
02:21Okay.
02:21Let's go to Bill.
02:23No, I think he's trying to get it.
02:24That's why.
02:26So, you made a big deal about not taking corporate PAC money in this campaign.
02:30But, can you do that when you were in the state senate?
02:32Is there a contradiction there?
02:33Well, I think we didn't take fireman money, but it was the state senate, caucus.
02:38I mean, I was one of a number of people that made those decisions, you know, what we took
02:43and what we didn't.
02:44Now, this is my campaign.
02:46We're not taking corporate money.
02:47All right.
02:48Let's meet you.
02:49Sorry.
02:51On Friday in Kittery, Senator Collins made, being head of the Appropriations Committee,
02:55a big part of her pitch, that she brings money back to Mainers.
02:59What is your statement on that?
03:01How would you tell Mainers who are concerned about money coming into the state?
03:05Why do you support you over Collins?
03:08So, I think the number is, like with the rural healthcare fund, is only 4% of what we're
03:17going to lose because she voted for the big, beautiful bill, or let it out and get it up
03:21on the floor.
03:22So, I see her as taking a lot more money out of the system than bringing in.
03:27I mean, I'll give her credit for the fire station and stuff like that, but if there's
03:30no one who lives here anymore or can't afford to live here because she's not willing to stand
03:34up to Donald Trump, then I don't see how that's any good either.
03:38And being the chair of Appropriations, I've appointed chairs of Appropriations.
03:43They have power to stop things.
03:45Susan Collins won't stop anything being the chair of Appropriations.
03:48She let ICE have what they want.
03:50She voted for the tax cuts for Elon Musk.
03:53She voted, or she lets the wars in Iran.
03:58All those things you can stop with the power of the purse, which she pros that she has power
04:03on, but she doesn't use it because she's not willing to go up against Donald Trump.
04:07Any thoughts on the gloves?
04:08Sorry, no follow-up.
04:09Yeah, I mean, there's another one, ridiculous.
04:12I'm sorry, I'm going to ask about the gloves.
04:13Was that an acceptable answer, that that was not what she intended to de-escalation money for?
04:17Well, she didn't say she was concerned.
04:20I mean, no, it isn't.
04:21I mean, you're the chair of Appropriations.
04:23Use that power.
04:24Put stipulations in there.
04:26I mean, it's just a rubber stamp.
04:27I mean, and seriously, like, that is what she's doing.
04:30She's rubber stamping whatever they want.
04:32I mean, I've had Appropriations chairs that I argued with vehemently about policy and stuff
04:37like that.
04:38I don't see that from her.
04:39She's supposed to, but yet she wants to crow about how she's the chair of Appropriations.
04:44We'll use that power in a way that's helpful to me.
04:47And Andrew, last one over here.
04:51You talked about one of the big parts of your campaign is Medicare for All.
04:55You shared this about, was your plan in Europe?
04:59The main private health care?
05:00What would happen to people's private health care through their employers?
05:03What would the alternative look like?
05:04Well, I mean, it's getting rarer and rarer that employees are, employers are able to afford
05:10to provide it, you know, and thank God that some of them still can.
05:13But, I mean, you know, Medicare for All, I mean, universal health care is happening everywhere
05:19else in the country.
05:20I mean, I see it in Canada.
05:22I've had relatives that have been in the hospital for months on end and came out with good health
05:26care and not massive bills that made them go bankrupt.
05:30So, I mean, it shocks me that they'll even argue that there's no money for Medicare for
05:38All, but there's money for tax cuts for Elon Musk.
05:40There's money to create wars that are spending millions and millions of dollars a day, you
05:45know, the tariffs, I mean, ICE, there's always money for that shit, but there's no money to
05:50give health care to these people.
05:53That is something that I am going to fight for nonstop because I know it happens everywhere
05:58else.
05:59I can see it from my house in Rustic County that Canadians are getting health care, and
06:04if they can do it, we sure as hell can the most powerful country in the world.
06:08Okay, thanks, guys.
06:09It's not a yes or a no day, but private insurance co-exists with a health care health care.
06:12I think it definitely can.
06:14If you want to have your own health insurance, go right ahead.
06:18But for the rest of us that are struggling to get it, I think we should be able to have
06:22government-sponsored health care like all those elected officials have.
