Dan Bilzerian’s bid for Congress has collapsed as Republican incumbent Randy Fine defeats the social media star in Florida’s 6th Congressional District primary. Fine won nearly 57 percent of the vote, while Bilzerian finished a distant second with around 19 percent, despite spending roughly $1 million of his own money and leveraging his massive Instagram following.

The bitter primary was dominated by inflammatory rhetoric, personal attacks and accusations of antisemitism and anti-Islam rhetoric. Bilzerian repeatedly attacked Fine over his Jewish identity and support for Israel, drawing condemnation from both Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

The result highlights the limits of social media fame in electoral politics, showing that millions of followers do not necessarily translate into votes when faced with an established political organization, incumbency and strong party backing.

00:23Dan Bilzerian wanted to take his millions of social media
00:27followers from Instagram to Congress.
00:30But on election night, the so-called king of Instagram hit a very real political wall.
00:37Republican incumbent Randy Fine has defeated Bilzerian in Florida's 6th Congressional District
00:44primary, winning roughly 57 percent of the vote, while Bilzerian finished a distant second
00:51with around 19 percent.
00:53The result is significant, because this was not an ordinary Republican primary.
01:00It was one of the most controversial Congressional races in America this election cycle, and much
01:06of the campaign was dominated by accusations of bigotry, personal attacks, and inflammatory
01:12rhetoric.
01:13Bilzerian entered the race as a self-funding outsider.
01:17He put roughly one million dollars of his own money into the campaign and tried to turn
01:23his enormous online following into political momentum.
01:27His message focused heavily on America First themes, and he made opposition to Fine's strong
01:34support for Israel and AIPAC a central part of his campaign.
01:38But the campaign quickly became far more personal.
01:43Bilzerian repeatedly attacked Fine over his Jewish identity, using anti-Semitic slurs and conspiracy
01:50theories about Jewish influence.
01:53One campaign video even invoked Adolf Hitler and used anti-Semitic imagery and messaging.
01:59The controversy became so serious that House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, and Democratic
02:07minority leader Hakeem Jeffries both condemned Bilzerian's campaign rhetoric.
02:13Fine himself called Bilzerian an open Nazi.
02:17But there is another side to this story.
02:20Randy Fine is also a highly controversial figure.
02:24The Republican incumbent has faced widespread criticism for inflammatory statements about
02:30Islam and Muslims, as well as his strong support for hardline Israeli policies.
02:36So this primary became a remarkable political clash.
02:40An incumbent known for anti-Islam rhetoric against an influencer whose campaign repeatedly crossed
02:48into open anti-Semitism.
02:50And ultimately, Republican voters in this district were presented with two highly polarizing candidates,
02:57and they overwhelmingly chose the incumbent.
03:01Randy Fine now advances to the November general election, while Dan Bilzerian's attempt to turn
03:07his Instagram empire into a congressional career has come to an end.
