The federal government's sweeping overhaul of the NDIS is set to become law, after passing the senate with coalition support. Advocates say the changes could leave many without any guarantee of support. Children and young people with disability CEO Skye Kakoschke-Moore says the government needs to make sure that doesn't happen.

00:02What we're seeing here is a massive sequencing problem because the Federal Government
00:06is moving to reduce the number of NDIS participants while at the same time stating that alternative
00:13supports will be available, but they're not.
00:16Thriving Kids is due to roll out in October this year with full implementation by January
00:20of 2028, but at this stage the states and territories are in very different stages of
00:27progress when it comes to identifying what those supports will be and what families will
00:32be able to expect.
00:33The NDIS is here for people with disability and the disability advocacy community stands
00:38with people with disability to make sure the NDIS and the foundational supports that are
00:44supposed to wrap around the scheme are set up and are working for people with disability.
