00:00Perhaps the most fascinating awards race this year will be him versus Shohei for NL MVP.
00:07I suspect you have a bias in this.
00:09Would you like to make the case here why you think at least three quarters of the way through the
00:14season, Pete Crow Armstrong is the National League MVP?
00:16Well, yeah, I mean, I think he's a top 10 hitter in the league and he's the best defender on
00:20the planet.
00:21And so I think that that's the reason.
00:24And listen, I think he's meant so much to this team.
00:26And for us to have the number of injuries we have had and to be able to be where we
00:31are, I think his defense is a huge part of that.
00:33His offense is a huge part of that.
00:35And obviously, I want him to win the award.
00:39I think that that's clear.
00:40But I also feel like, listen, the guy he's trying to knock off is the most talented baseball player that's
00:45ever lived.
00:45So that's a real challenge.
00:46And I don't want to get ahead of ourselves.
00:48It feels like a conversation better had on September 17th and August 17th.
00:53But the year that Pete has had is sensational.
00:56I mean, to be an eight-win player right now here in the middle of August, to really overcome some
01:01struggles early in the season offensively,
01:02to mature the way he has at the plate, drawing the number of walks he has, really being our offensive
01:08catalyst in the leadoff spot.
01:09I think he's meant more to our team than I would think any player in baseball has meant to their
01:13team.
01:14I think that's the definition of value.
