00:00This next one comes to us from the El Paso Police Department, also down in Texas.
00:07It's rush hour on the I-10 in West Texas,
00:10and an El Paso motorcycle cop has just pulled over this Mazda for speeding.
00:22And in case you're wondering, that toonie singing is Zangalua by Golden Sounds,
00:27of course, made famous by Shakira.
00:33The officer runs the car's info, scans the plate, and then carefully approaches the car.
00:40Hey, sir, good morning. Sorry about that, sir. You came up on me fast. I'm sorry.
00:43No, you're going to help us. It's up. It's up. It's up. It's up. It's up. It's up. You're going
00:4485 and a 60, okay?
00:46The driver hands him his license.
00:48I don't believe it's a work right now. That's why I want to rush it.
00:51Well, here's your car.
00:53Ow!
00:551-31, clear the air. Clear the air. I-10 East.
01:08I'm going to check on the other driver. I'm not too sure if he's going to be okay.
01:27It's going to be two vehicles.
01:29The officer races towards the Mazda, where it looks like a good Samaritan is already checking on the drivers.
01:36Sir, you're okay?
01:39You can just start me off a mess. Start me off a mess.
01:41Hey, hang tight, man, all right? He came right behind my bike, man.
01:45He rearing it. He just went around my bike, man.
01:48I don't know what happened, man.
01:51You okay?
01:52I'm pretty sure I'm good, but that's sure I'm good.
01:55You okay? I have the fire department coming right now, okay? Just hang tight for me.
01:58The officer gets back on the radio.
02:00We're going to be just east of the east.
02:03The other driver is now standing outside his car, and he seems to actually be in pretty good shape.
02:09The second place is going to be x-ray, really, and big thing?
02:12Two-six? Eight-five?
02:15Oh, I'm almost f***ing dead.
02:16As for the officer, he still appears to be a bit shaken up.
02:22Oh, my f***ing.
02:24That was f***ing dead.
02:26Oh, f***ing.
02:32Absolutely wild.
02:33But the victim in the Mazda was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries,
02:37and he has since made a full recovery.
02:39And in case you guys are wondering, he was not given a ticket for speeding.
02:43Now, the officer, he was also injured.
02:45He was checked out on scene by EMS and then taken to the hospital.
02:49He's out now, and I'm happy to report he's doing well.
02:52Now, as for the driver, the guy that caused this whole thing,
02:54after being released from the hospital, he was booked into the El Paso County Jail
02:59and charged with failure to control speed, causing a collision.
03:02Both cars involved in this thing were totaled, basically, nonoperable.
03:06And this is why all 50 states have move-over laws for emergency vehicles.
03:11And I looked on the Officer Down Memorial page after seeing this package.
03:14So far this year, seven officers have been killed in the line of duty out on traffic stops
03:18or directing traffic from other accidents.
03:20Wow.
03:21Yeah, talk about the one here in Jersey, Mark Castellano.
03:24Yeah.
03:24The Jersey Trooper in Howell, where it happened.
03:26And his mom is the one that got the law dedicated here in Jersey.
03:30Crazy.
03:31And this one's crazy.
03:32He didn't get hit, the fact that he came on the other side.
03:35The motorcycle was untouched.
03:37It's wild.
03:37Between the motorcycle and the guardrail, somehow hit the back of this car.
03:41And what are the odds, like 0% odds?
03:44Well, you pointed out earlier, this officer needs to play the lottery.
03:46I mean, he played the lottery that day, essentially.
03:48Yeah, and won.
03:49And won.
