00:03Oh yeah, anytime you can work some baseball into the show, you know I'm going to do it.
00:09Oh, forget about it.
00:10It's the Andy Summers Show with Jeff Kirkshen, Donnie, and Shannon.
00:13And this Saturday, I'm very excited, August 22nd, my dad and I, ESPN's Tim Kirkshen,
00:19are hosting a really awesome charity event that we want everybody to be invited to.
00:25Yay!
00:26So you can actually text Tim right now to 610-660-6925.
00:31Oddly enough, I feel bad because during the 10-minute tunes, I know some people asked for some Tim McGraw
00:36songs,
00:36so they got sent the link for this event because it said Tim in it.
00:41But nonetheless, if you text Tim to 610-660-6925, we're going to tell you all about and give you
00:48the link to our event
00:49in Pottstown, Pennsylvania at Soul Joel's this Saturday, 2 p.m.
00:55to benefit a young dad who's been diagnosed with ALS out of Collegeville.
00:59Now, if there's one thing I can say about the Andy Summers Show and XTU as a whole is we're
01:04all about supporting the community.
01:06It brings me back to the days of Coach Poppy, right, Andy?
01:09Yes, yes, who needed a kidney.
01:11I mean, he had been waiting for, what, years?
01:14Yeah.
01:14Years.
01:15Yeah, and we held events and got the word out, and he eventually got his kidney, and now he's doing
01:22so well.
01:23Which is so amazing.
01:24We love you, George.
01:24Andy still stays in touch with him, you know, talking all the time.
01:28And he, I know, has been pumping you up, Andy, in your recovery as well, which is so, so special.
01:34Yeah, he's amazing.
01:35This young dad, Michael Brown, former Secret Service, former college baseball player, and he lives in Collegeville.
01:43He's a father of some beautiful kiddos, and he needs our help, right?
01:47So, you know, my uncle died of ALS back in 2023, and we know firsthand the difficulty of the disease,
01:56but also the difficulty of the care, the amount of caretakers you need, the medicines, the insurance hoops you have
02:03to jump, skip, and run through to get anything done.
02:06And then, obviously, the family aspect.
02:09You know, my uncle, he had grown kids, both, you know, very steady in their jobs and doing well, but,
02:15like, couldn't imagine supporting a family with a diagnosis like this.
02:18Oh, it just, it breaks our heart.
02:20Jeff, let me ask you this, though.
02:22So, you're having this great charity event with you and your dad, but what can people expect?
02:26Yes, great question.
02:27You can expect all things baseball, baby.
02:31All right, so we're going to be on the stage doing a little back and forth.
02:34So, my dad and I have a podcast called Is This a Great Game or What?, where we talk baseball
02:38the way only a father and son can, right?
02:40Sharing the love of the game together.
02:42And we'll be chatting back and forth, but then the best part is we're going to be taking your questions,
02:47a Q&A with baseball expert, Hall of Fame writer Tim Kirkshen, and I just secured something big yesterday, folks.
02:53What?
02:54Yes, thanks to our friends, the Philadelphia Phillies.
02:57I secured five game tickets for you and four friends to go to a game with Tim Kirkshen and sit
03:07with him at a Phillies game.
03:09Wow.
03:10That's pretty cool.
03:10Which is a pretty awesome prize.
03:12Your dad is, like, a moving baseball encyclopedia.
03:17Oh, yeah.
03:18Like, any question you throw at him.
03:21Donnie's tried to, I feel like, stump him in some ways.
03:23I thought I had him.
03:24I thought I had him.
03:25I can't.
03:26He knows everything.
03:27He knows everything.
03:28But at the same time, he's also super fun.
03:30Yeah.
03:31Right.
03:31And he's so nice about it.
03:32Yeah.
03:32He could be a snob about it.
03:35Yeah.
03:35Like, I know everything.
03:37Right.
03:38But he's not.
03:39Like, he's, it's always a teaching moment when it comes with Tim Kirkshen.
03:42Yeah.
03:42And I love this story.
03:43Just all his stories.
03:46Oh.
03:46Well, we're so excited for this event.
03:48Everybody's invited.
03:49You can text Tim to 610-660-6925.
03:53Bring the whole family.
03:54McKinley's going to be there.
03:56Yeah.
03:56She's going to be selling hats.
03:57We have a brand new exclusive hat.
03:59All of the proceeds are going to go.
04:02Whoa.
04:02Yep.
04:02All the proceeds are going to go to Michael Brown and his family.
04:05We also have a Trey Turner signed jersey we're going to be raffling off.
04:09Those game tickets and so much more.
04:11So, come on out.
04:11August 22nd.
04:12Text Tim.
