00:01DAP has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to provide equal funds to all MPs and introduce
00:07legislation to permanently guarantee the allocation. Party Chairman Gobin Singh Deo said DAP
00:13leaders had raised the issue with Anwar several times, noting that equal funding was a Pakatan
00:18Harapan election pledge. In a statement, he argued that withholding equal allocations weakened the
00:24democratic mandate of elected representatives and disadvantaged voters based on their political
00:29choices. Gobin welcomed Anwar's recent announcement of an additional 1 million ringgit for all 222
00:36parliamentary constituencies, but stressed that it did not resolve the wider issue. He called for
00:41legislation that would remove political discretion from the distribution of constituency development
00:46funds and guarantee equal treatment for all MPs. Yesterday, DAP gave Anwar a year-end deadline for
00:54several reforms, including separating the roles of Attorney General and Public Prosecutor and
01:00introducing a term limit for the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Civil Society Group Project SAMA added
01:06that the coalition's losses in Johor and Negeri Sembilan should convince BH that equal funding
01:11funding laws would be in its long-term interest.
