00:00This November will mark 11 years since Fallout 4, and until last week, there was nothing to suggest another game
00:07was anywhere close to the horizon.
00:10Now, the Fallout slate has filled up significantly, with Fallout 76's prequel story to Fallout 3, and the Fallout 3
00:17and New Vegas remasters likely to follow relatively soon after.
00:21Fallout 5 is officially in pre-production, but there's no launch date in sight.
00:25And then there's Obsidian's new Fallout project that's currently the most mysterious, but also the clearest indication of what Fallout
00:33and Xbox actually need.
00:35Help from the wider ecosystem that Xbox is losing its grip on.
00:39The possibilities are huge.
00:41A stealthy Dark Brotherhood immersive sim made by Arkane Austin.
00:45A ghoul-led game using the State of Decay tech from Undead Labs.
00:49An Age of Empires conversion from World's Edge.
00:51That none of those studios have been given a Bethesda license is a mistake, but it's a mistake compounded by
00:58the fact that Bethesda isn't equipped to handle these IPs at the pace that should be required.
01:03It's likely that the Fallout release cadence will pick up now.
01:06The remasters are the start of that process, and the Obsidian game and Fallout 76 expansion will help.
01:12But while Xbox's recent layoffs have hit hard, the fact still stands that Fallout has been left behind by its
01:19creators for far too long.
01:21And no number of remasters will help speed up the ongoing wait for its next major iteration.
01:27Especially as the years tick on.
