00:09at practice when he found a two foot long venomous snake had crawled into his helmet
00:16the athlete uh felt an unusual movement inside his headgear following warm-ups last week had it on
00:24it wasn't even like he walked over to his helmet and there was a snake in it
00:27listen to this he uh brought his helmet to an assistant coach for inspection because he's
00:34like i think something's moving like my pads are moving inside and a cotton mouth was discovered
00:40behind the padding and uh it's known as a pit viper it's in the same category as the uh um
00:47they're in florida the cotton mouth yeah yeah they are yeah they are it's uh it's in the the same

01:02second the pit viper was so reluctant to exit the helmet that police officers had to pour water
01:07into it to force the snake out and into a bag animal service technicians arrived a few minutes
01:14later and identified the snake as a deadly cotton mouth and took it to a wooded area far from the
01:18school um was this in florida this was in arkansas oh arkansas wow i didn't even know there were
01:24cotton mouths in arkansas uh you're thinking of copperheads that's what i'm thinking of thank you
01:28uh animal service directors uh said that the player wore the helmet for nearly an hour and was fortunate
01:35that the snake didn't bite him but also the animal service director went on to say that it shows that
01:41these snakes aren't necessarily aggressive they're more likely to try and hide than they are to strike
01:46yeah but you would think like every single time that player hit another player and that helmet got
01:54like how did he not get bit that's insane it is insane
