Liverpool City Council is urging residents and visitors to help protect more than one hundred parks and green spaces by disposing of waste responsibly and respecting the environment.

The warning follows a rise in littering, dog fouling, anti-social behaviour and damage during periods of warm weather, while enforcement officers continue to patrol parks and issue Fixed Penalty Notices.

00:00Liverpool's parks are places to exercise, meet friends or simply spend time outdoors.
00:07But Liverpool City Council says busy periods of warm weather can also bring added pressure on those spaces,
00:13with a rise in littering, dog fowling, antisocial behaviour and damage to park environments.
00:19The council says those incidents create extra work for park staff and volunteer groups
00:23and can have a negative impact on wildlife and other visitors.
00:27There are more than 100 parks and green spaces across Liverpool, attracting thousands of visitors every year.
00:33The council is reminding everyone who uses them that looking after those spaces is a shared responsibility.
00:39That includes some straightforward rules.
00:41Visitors are being asked not to litter and to use the bins provided dog owners must clean up after their
00:46pets.
00:47The council also says barbecues should be raised off the ground.
00:50They should never be placed directly on grass, wooden decking or park benches
00:55and must be fully cooled before being disposed of responsibly.
00:58Scrambler bikes and other motorised vehicles are prohibited within parks and on grassed areas.
01:03They're also reminding visitors not to light fires or set off fireworks because fires can spread quickly.
01:08The council says people should respect wildlife, plants and park facilities,
01:12whilst also being considerate to other park users.
01:16There's an enforcement element too.
01:17The council says officers regularly patrol green spaces, engaging with visitors and catching people who litter allow dog fowling or
01:24fly tipping.
01:25Anyone caught offending will be issued with a fixed penalty notice.
