00:00Gel polish harms your nails, leaving them unattractive.
00:03Or is that a myth? Let's find out.
00:04The photo shows before and after results.
00:07At the end of the video, you'll find out that this is actually the best option for these nails.
00:12In this case, I'm showing you a fully grown-out gel polish.
00:15By the way, there was no strengthening here.
00:17I showed these nails before, and now I've gathered enough material to share the result with you.
00:22Let's take a nail file and start removing the gel polish.
00:24I wanted to show you the good old method of removal by soaking.
00:28For this, we'll need a regular nail file.
00:30I have a 180 grit file, and I'll use it to remove the top layer.
00:33We need to take that off.
00:34After that, we'll take some nail polish remover and special clips to secure the cotton pad.
00:40I have a 3-in-1 remover from Dormix.
00:43I take a piece of a cotton pad and fluff it up a little like this,
00:47then soak it generously in nail polish remover or gel polish remover.
00:51I do this with every single finger.
00:54You need to wait about 5-7, sometimes 10 minutes.
00:57It depends on the gel polish and how it was applied.
01:00But it's important to note that if it's gel, this method definitely won't work.
01:04This removal method was used when shellac first appeared in our world,
01:08and all our gel polishes were soak off.
01:10After that, I take a cuticle pusher, the same one I usually use on the skin,
01:15but in this case, I use it to help remove the old coating.
01:18I file it a little, and then wrap it again in a cotton pad soaked with remover.
01:22This way, after each such step, our coating swells a little,
01:26and we can gently remove the remaining gel polish.
01:29The main thing in this situation is not to pick at it or try to pull it off.
01:33That way, removal will be as gentle as possible.
01:35And no, your nails won't get damaged from this.
01:37But the only thing is, if you do have an allergy,
01:39then acetone-containing liquids might not be suitable here.
01:42Although in case of an allergy, even gel polish might not be suitable.
01:45After about two rounds of wrapping the nails like this,
01:48we completely removed the coating.
01:50That is, there was nothing left on our nails.
01:53But there is a lot of free edge length.
01:55And now, together with you, I will do a manicure on these hands,
01:58and also tell the story of these fingers.
02:00Overall, the problem with these hands was that there were always hangnails here,
02:04the coating didn't last well, it chipped,
02:07the nail shape left much to be desired,
02:08and they looked kind of like accordion buttons.
02:11I decided to run an experiment.
02:12In this case, we apply gel polish to this hand with gel polish
02:16without any leveling or strengthening.
02:17That is, just a thin layer of base, two layers of color, and a matte top coat.
02:21As you can see, these nails have grown out a lot,
02:24and the coating has been on for a little over a month.
02:27The nails were occasionally trimmed,
02:29but with the black color, the length of the free edge isn't visible,
02:32so it stayed quite long.
02:34And that's the secret.
02:35Because in this case, the gel polish worked in our favor,
02:38it helped grow out the nail bed and restore a very beautiful shape.
02:41And by the way, it also helped create an arch.
02:43We didn't apply anything to the nails, on the other hand, on purpose.
02:47It was specifically to show the before and after.
02:50I think it's very clear.
02:51I'm going to show you how to treat this kind of difficult cuticle,
02:54because it constantly gets frayed.
02:57In this case, my model neglects using cream, oil, or anything moisturizing,
03:01which, especially in cold weather, causes very severe skin dryness.
03:05I have a set of tools for manicure and pedicure.
03:08There are a lot of bits here, and they're all different.
03:11I'll be using some of them.
03:12Let me show you the set of bits a bit closer.
03:15So here we have both a safety bit and a purple bit for filing.
03:18There's a long flame bit, a short flame bit, and even my favorite little yellow bit.
03:22And of course, a ball bit for polishing.
03:25And I'll start treating this kind of skin with a safety bit.
03:28In my opinion, it's one of the most important ones in this situation.
03:32Because when your client has adhered skin, when the cuticle is spread out over the nail plate,
03:37tears easily, and is often dry, it will be much harder to work without a safety bit.
03:43It's designed in such a way that it has blunt edges.
03:46It's a carbide bit, but it won't remove your coating, and it can't cut through nails.
03:50But it will lift the cuticle perfectly and create the appearance and feeling of at least
03:54some kind of pocket, even if there really isn't one.
03:57After using the bit, I apply talc.
03:59I use talc in absolutely every manicure.
04:02Some people recommend applying it at the stage of pushing back the cuticle.
04:05And by the way, that's a really good life hack, because then the cuticle line becomes
04:09more visible, especially if it's stuck.
04:11But in this case, I apply talc after using the safety bit.
04:15Specifically so I can work with diamond bits, I'll use this bit for the job.
04:19It's a small short flame with a yellow band.
04:21I really love yellow bits, and I think they're just as good as blue, red, blue, or even green ones.
04:27The main thing is to choose the right bit for the right skin, and also set the correct speed.
04:32Of course, with a yellow bit at low speed, the efficiency won't be great.
04:35That's why I set it to about 20 to 25,000 rpm, and to make sure the client doesn't feel
04:40any burning, you shouldn't stay in one spot for too long.
04:43I'm doing a very gentle and delicate treatment of the pinky finger.
04:47I follow the same path I used when working with the safety bit.
04:50And overall, we're ready for the cut.
04:53The manicure is clean.
04:54Only the cuticle remains to be removed.
04:56I'm holding scissors with a unique shape, the S06 model from Nippon Nippers, and they
05:02have these unusual rings.
05:03In my opinion, the shape of the handles or the rings is a matter of habit or, in some
05:08cases, just personal preference.
05:10I'm showing these just in case someone was looking for them.
05:13This is exactly the style of scissors.
05:15The blades of these scissors aren't the thinnest.
05:17For those who prefer something thicker, they also don't have any curves, so they have a classic
05:23shape.
05:23On this kind of cuticle, I always make a shallow cut.
05:27Contrary to what you see on phone screens with super clean manicures and deep cuts that
05:32make the nail folds shine.
05:34But I encourage you to use your head.
05:36After all, if there's a lot of cuticle and a lot of hangnails, that should definitely tell
05:40us something.
05:41Because the skin serves a protective function, so I suggest not cutting too much, but instead
05:46gently buffing the cut at the end.
05:48Our goal is to make sure the cuticle doesn't overgrow, stick, get spiky or, of course,
05:54get frayed afterwards.
05:55And no, it's not always just about buffing here.
05:58There are some specific things you need to keep in mind.
06:01After the manicure, I apply antiseptic and check my work for cleanliness.
06:05I remove all the dust, clean all the sinuses and get ready for the coating.
06:10And for the clarity of our experiment, I will be applying a polish.
06:13A matte effect polish.
06:15It can be used as a standalone coating or as an addition to decorative ones.
06:19This polish contains vitamins C, B5 as well as biotin and even a keratin complex which
06:26restores the keratin layer of the nail and strengthens it.
06:29I often recommend this kind of coating even to men.
06:32And the matte effect looks natural.
06:34Pay attention to the convenient brush and easy application.
06:38This way, your nails immediately look well groomed.
06:42It's nice to look at.
06:43This polish air dries in just a couple of minutes.
06:46And now, I'd like to show you our final result.
06:49Now write in the comments whether gel polish really damages your nails or if it's actually
06:54a matter of using it correctly or incorrectly.
06:56Just like e-file or combination manicures.
06:59In this case, I'm showing you the arch on both thumbnails of the right and left hand.
07:04As you can see, the nail bed has lengthened.
07:06A beautiful curve has appeared.
07:08The cuticle is now neat and the nail looks and is absolutely smooth.
07:12And of course, in a perfect world, these hands desperately need moisturizing.
07:17I apply oil to the cuticles.
07:19And for those clients who neglect moisturizing, I can specifically recommend dry oil.
07:24I have one from EMI and its advantage is that it doesn't leave a super greasy or unpleasant
07:30residue but still moisturizes the skin well.
07:33So let's admire our before and after once again.
07:36For those who comment that gel polishes ruin your nails, that there's nothing good about
07:41them and that you should only use regular polish, I can say that everything is good in
07:45moderation and should be used wisely.
07:48Then you'll have balance and harmony on your nails and in your life.
