00:04What makes a great NFL offensive play caller in your opinion?
00:09The best thing, the best play callers are those guys
00:13that can adapt during the game.
00:15I see so many system coordinators out there that they know this system
00:19and they go run it because maybe that's what they ran in college
00:22or that's all they know.
00:23You guys are 32, 33 years old, which makes Sean McVay so unusual
00:27because he's not like that.
00:28They run that system, something changes out there,
00:31and they just keep doing the same stuff over and over.
00:34And it's ignorant, you know, and they don't know any better.
00:38Their exposure is so limited to the amount of football.
00:41And I think the great ones like Ben Johnson,
00:43they can take what's happened in the middle of a game
00:46and they can change gears immediately and go do something else.
00:49I've seen him win games at Ben Johnson when he's at Detroit
00:52where they didn't throw a pass in the last eight minutes of the game.
00:55They just pounded it and still went down, scored, and iced it
00:58or they got to come back and do two minutes.
01:00Whatever it is, they're what they can do
01:03and they're prepared to do whatever it takes to win
01:05and not just run a system because that's what they know.
01:08And I think that's the primary difference between the good ones.
01:12Boy, Coach, you mentioned Ben Johnson there real quick here.
01:15I mean, he had Jared Goff the following year.
01:17He gets Caleb Williams, and it's a completely different offense.
01:21And probably the versatility is what you love about him
01:24in that coordinator there.
