00:00Tell me a little bit about what it's like to step onto a set like this and join the Ted
00:04Lasso family.
00:06It feels like you're like an alien joining a planet that you kind of already know and you're just trying
00:14to sort of blend in and not mess up something that works so well.
00:20There's always a little bit of like scariness, but they wanted us there as much as we wanted to be
00:29there.
00:29And so it was like immediately dissipated. It was immediately like just a big warm hug.
00:34Yeah, I was going to ask, like, is it daunting to come in as a new character into an ensemble
00:39that so many people already know and love?
00:41Yeah, it's terrifying, but you can trust the creatives of this show.
00:47They love it and they care about it with their whole hearts.
00:51And so you kind of always feel safe.
00:55They're not going to let anything ruin their good thing.
00:59And so, yeah, it's like collaborative and working together and, yeah, to figure out sort of how the characters fit
01:10into the world that's already beautifully created.
01:14Obviously, your role is different than some of the other people in terms of your playing, your soccer player.
01:20Talk to me about the audition process.
01:22Is there like two different types of auditions in terms of acting and then also the athletic component?
01:27Yeah, so there was an acting element and there was just a couple of scenes.
01:33And one of them was with Tanya's character.
01:39And then, yeah, there was a football reel that we had to create, which was literally just like, just like,
01:44show us what you can do with the ball.
01:46So, yeah, I had to go into the park opposite where I lived at the time and ask strangers to
01:50help me film a little football reel.
01:53Just had a little kick about it in the park.
01:54It was great.
01:54And was that nerve-wracking?
01:56Like, have you ever had to do something like that before?
01:58No, I'm definitely not a person who just, like, approaches strangers.
02:04But this role felt like it was for me.
02:08And I knew that I had to be vulnerable.
02:11I mean, how Ted Lasso?
02:13I was like, you know, if you're going to get to where you want to go, you have to be
02:17vulnerable and do the scary things.
02:19And I did that.
02:20And, yeah, it worked out.
02:21Thank goodness.
02:22I feel like the show is full of great pieces of advice and mottos.
02:27Is there anything in particular that you have applied in your real life?
02:31Yeah, be a goldfish.
02:33I have to, yeah, I can sometimes live inside of my head.
02:38And, yeah, do you have those moments where you're like, you just, like, remember something three years ago that was
02:44embarrassing.
02:44And you're like, oh, I'm living that now.
02:46I'm living that now.
02:47Sometimes I'll be like, oh, be a goldfish.

02:58Oh, my gosh, yes.
02:59I got to go to a quarterfinal.

03:08The whole atmosphere, it was like the world's coming together.

03:13I went to Argentina, Switzerland.

03:21I was rooting for Argentina.

03:25I'm Welsh, so my team wasn't in the World Cup.
03:28So I was kind of rooting for the players.

03:36So whoever was playing for Manchester United in all the world teams is who I would support
