00:00The question is, is this going to be Justin Herbert's year?
00:03Given where this offense is, given where the quarterback is in his career,
00:08he is newly engaged.
00:09He has a lot of attention on him from non-football fans.
00:13And this schedule is pretty good.
00:16I like this schedule.
00:18I don't love where the bye is for the Chargers, okay?
00:22But look at the start.
00:23They get the Cardinals and the Raiders at home.
00:26If you're a Charger fan, you're like, okay, we're 2-0.
00:29Now, you're probably going to be 2-2 after your first four games
00:34because you win your first two home games, you lose your first two road games.
00:38But if you could somehow go and beat the Buffalo Bills or beat the Seahawks,
00:42again, I'm not that high on the Seahawks.
00:44I think the Seattle Seahawks are going to come back down to earth.
00:47I think without Kubiak running that offense, got some questions,
00:50there's some injuries there for Seattle.
00:53It could be a 3-1 start where you lose to the Bills and you beat the Seahawks.
00:57Then the Chargers come back home to play the Broncos and then to Kansas City
01:02to open up the season for the first six weeks.
01:05I think if you're a Charger fan and you're trying to figure out,
01:08okay, can we go 4-2 to start the year?
01:12I think you would sign up for that every single time.
01:15Now, you open up 3-3, it's a little bit of a different conversation,
01:18a little bit of a different worry there if you open up 3-3.
01:21What you don't want to do is open up 2-4, and that would be you win your first two
01:26games
01:27and then you lose the rest until you get to the bye week.
01:31Could that happen?
01:32100% that could happen.
01:34You obviously don't want that to happen, but that would be one of those situations.
01:39If you're a Charger fan, there is a little bit of an up and down situation here
01:43for them with what direction they might wind up going.
01:47Now, you go after the bye at the Rams, okay?
01:53That's not easy.
01:54But after you get through the Texans, it starts to get really, really winnable.
02:02Look, we don't know what the Ravens are going to look like, okay?
02:05The Ravens have a new head coach.
02:07The Ravens could be great, but they might not.
02:09It's a hard game on Sunday to take on the Texans, but you're at home.
02:12So Rams, Texans, Ravens, really tough.
02:16But after that, the run is pretty good.
02:20You have an East Coast team at home.
02:23East Coast team at home.
02:25Jets, Patriots.
02:26You're at Tampa, but it's in December.
02:28You're at Vegas, but it's in December in a dome.
02:32You're home for the 49ers.
02:34Not a bad time.
02:36You should be able to be competitive there.
02:37And then you go ahead and go to Miami again in late December.
02:41Your last two games are going to be difficult.
02:45Kansas City and the Broncos.
02:47That's not easy.
02:49Especially at Denver in January is no fun and no picnic to get into.
02:54But your home games are Cardinals, Raiders, Broncos, Texans, Jets, Patriots, 49ers, Chiefs.
03:05That's a pretty good home schedule.
03:07The road games are difficult, but I get why their win total number is nine and a half.
03:12I understand that philosophy from the books and say, look, they have a shorter odd to win the Super Bowl
03:19than the Eagles do, but they might only win nine games.
03:23Like they can get into the playoffs at nine and eight, be a wildcard team, and potentially wind up in
03:30the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium in their home stadium.
03:34We've talked so much about the Rams playing at home.
03:37I mean, could you imagine if it was the Chargers and the Rams at SoFi playing in the Super Bowl?
03:42How wild that would be?
03:45Might be the first time in sports history, in professional sports history, that both teams that play in the one
03:51building play their championship game in that building.
03:56And yeah, I mean, Jimmy Football, by week 14, the Niners could be toast.
04:00A hundred percent.
04:02That could happen.
04:02Listen, I really do think if you're a Charger fan, a lot's riding on Justin Herbert.
04:09Like a lot is riding on his arm and his ability to stay healthy and Harbaugh to maximize.
04:15They want to run the football.
04:16We'll talk about the pro football story of the day here in a second.
04:18They want to run the football this year.
04:20They really do want to focus in on the running game.
04:23They've got some weapons.
04:25David Njoku is a new tight end that they've brought over.
04:28They got Alec Ingold now to come in here.
04:30Ladd McConkie obviously is a tremendous weapon for them in the receiving game.
04:34Quinton Johnson's a great weapon in the red zone, but they don't really have a burner over the top, right?
04:40They got Justin Herbert who's going to spread the ball around, but they want to run the ball.
04:44Mike McDaniel is now their offensive coordinator.
04:46They want to run the ball.
04:47And like he did in Miami, they want to run the ball.
04:50And he is a guy who might be just a brilliant offensive mind and a really crappy head coach, but
04:56he can run the offense.
04:57And that's been basically what Harbaugh has done is handed the keys to the offense over to Mike McDaniel and
05:02say, go do it.
05:02Let's see what happens.
05:04Big year for Justin Herbert for sure.
