00:00I'm wondering if you can respond to the pied-à-terre tax lawsuit that was filed on Friday.
00:05It's going to court today. How your legal team is working on that?
00:09And then also, do you have any regrets on how the rollout was done?
00:13And what are your thoughts moving forward on that?
00:15You know, there are a few things more certain in New York City than death taxes
00:19and Randy Mastro filing a lawsuit against this administration.
00:22So we look forward to vigorously defend our city's position in court,
00:27as we have done so with the previous lawsuits that he has filed,
00:30and I'm sure with the lawsuits that he will continue to file in the months and years to come.
00:34And we are confident in our position.
00:36And that is a confidence coming from both the legality of the city's actions
00:41as well as the importance of a surcharge on secondary homes worth more than $5 million,
00:46a surcharge that will help fund safer streets, that will help fund stronger schools,
00:51and it will help fund the city that New Yorkers deserve.
00:53Do you have regrets on the rollout?
00:55You know, this is, we always know that with any new tax,
00:58there are more questions than there are answers,
00:59and we're looking to make sure that every New Yorker that is potentially affected,
01:03again, we're talking about 17,000 homeowners out of a city of $8.5 million,
01:07have all the information that they need,
01:09and we've extended the deadline for them to appeal to the Department of Finance is September 18th.
01:14Again, if they do not appeal by that point,
01:16they can still appeal to the Tax Commission by March of 2027.
01:19which is the way they can actually make sure
01:19they're always evaluated.
01:19And for the despite disappointing things,
01:20it just goes into their decisionстering
