00:00The huge majority around the world, especially the younger generation, are speaking out.
00:04And for the first time, they're really starting to be heard.
00:07You are the next generation of leadership, which this world so desperately needs,
00:11because this goes through this healing process.
00:12And that, I think, is so true, because there's nothing that's stopping you now.
00:17Nothing.
00:17Knowing that you have the attention of the world to say, the world is seeking solutions.
00:23The world is craving a healing through everything that's happened over these several months.
00:27And we really look back at history for, obviously, much longer than that.
00:31And I think, Alicia, to your point earlier, talking about discomfort and why it's an important
00:36recognition is that it's like growing pains.
00:39Growing pains are painful.
00:42This process is painful, and it has been for a long time.
00:46But through that immense pain, what we can have tremendous faith in is knowing that there will
00:51be growth.
00:52And that's what we're seeing happen every single day as all of you are out there campaigning,
00:57fighting the right fight, being on the right side of history, and ensuring that we can
01:01get closer to seeing this truly as our past and not something that we have to revisit again
01:07and again and again.
01:08So we really, we thank you and commend you for your efforts on that.
01:11It is inspiring for both of us to watch and to bear witness to and why we, of course,
01:16made the time and find it a huge honor to be able to have this time with all of you
01:19today.
01:20Guys, I'm aging, right?
01:22I'm 35 already.
01:24That's not aging.
01:25It is aging compared to these guys.
01:27But the optimism and the hope that we get is listening and speaking to people like you,
01:32because there is no turning back now, right?
01:34Everything is coming to a head.
01:36Things, solutions exist, and change is happening far quicker than it ever has done before.
01:42But back to all your points is we have to acknowledge, but also learn from the past where
01:47people have tried to do something similar and failed for one reason or another.
01:50How are we going to be successful this time?
01:52Because all the clues are there.
01:54We just need this movement to be able to continue this momentum for as long as it takes.
02:00And you guys are all leading that.
02:01Mike, sorry, you were next and I jumped in.
02:05No, you know, I just want to say that humility that I spoke about being the impetus, I think
02:10you both demonstrated that so beautifully.
02:13I think this conversation, even happening, sends messages around that folks who have power
02:20are willing to listen.
02:22So it means a lot.
02:23And I thank you for that.
02:25I mean, the only thing I would add to everything that's been said so eloquently already is that,
02:30you know, it's something similar to what you said, that we need to rebuild systems.
02:35You know, I was corrected by an older woman once when I told her the system's broken.
02:39And she says, well, Mike, it's not broken.
02:42It works for those it was designed to work for.
02:45And I said, ah, right.
02:46So what we have to do then is rebuild a new system, keeping in mind that a new system doesn't
02:53isn't going to just displace, you know, the other side, but actually it's going to be a
02:58system that benefits everybody.
02:59Why?
03:00Because in the middle of it is equity and equality, which is a priori, a good thing.
03:05And so the message I think I would send and what I'm seeing from people is the protests
03:11typically begin with clenched fists, but they should end with open hands because we're
03:16at some stage, you need to invite other people in.
03:19If we're going to rebuild this new world together, we need the energy of everybody.
03:23And so as long as that's there in the mix, that everyone needs to be a part of building
03:29this new world, this new system, I'm game.
03:32And it's so good to see that you're both going to join that fight.
