The legendary Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is back, turning a small South Dakota town into a roaring destination for motorcycle fans from across the country.
The 86th annual rally is underway in Sturgis, a town with a population of roughly 7,100 that typically welcomes around 500,000 visitors during the 10-day celebration. Motorcycles fill the streets while riders explore the Black Hills, with races, stunt performances, concerts, demonstrations, vendors and organized group rides taking over the region.
This year’s entertainment lineup is bringing major names to the rally, with country star Lainey Wilson scheduled to headline on August 12. YUNGBLUD, Megadeth, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rob Zombie and Insane Clown Posse are also part of the concert schedule.
The event also offers riders opportunities to explore Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Badlands National Park, Deadwood and other nearby attractions.
Started in 1938 by motorcycle dealer Pappy Hoel, the Sturgis Rally has grown from a local gathering into one of the world’s biggest motorcycle celebrations.
