Filipino painter Galicano leads artists in opening of Cebu exhibit

Celebrated Filipino painter Master Romulo Galicano leads artists in 'Echoes of the Masters: Masterpieces Reimagined Through Contemporary Eyes,' which opened Aug. 6, 2026 at Galerie Raphael Cebu in Ayala Center Cebu. The exhibition, presented with the Progressive Artists Society of the Philippines Inc. (PASPI) as part of Cebu Arts Month, features works inspired by renowned masterworks and reinterpreted through the artists’ own styles. It runs until Sept. 6. Carcar City-born painter Walter Vestil, who has made waves in the European art scene, including in Paris, is among the featured artists. His piece 'At The Edge of Tomorrow' pays homage to American painter Arthur Parton while drawing from Carcar’s landscapes. Guest artists include actors Cesar Montano and Rep. Richard Gomez.
