02:38Anyway, here's Kirby Smart talking about scheduling philosophy.
02:43Historically, I've been a part of some really good SEC championship, national championship.
02:48I'm not just talking about Georgia.
02:50I'm talking about everywhere I've coached.
02:52I've been really fortunate to coach at really good programs, LSU, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia.
02:58And the common denominator of those programs is you play really good teams year in and year out, whether it's
03:05in conference or out of conference.
03:07And, you know, are you trying to appease the fans because you want to have a really exciting schedule?
03:13They enjoy the excitement of playing those schedules versus the balance of risk of injury and wear and tear.
03:20And, you know, the line probably lasts somewhere in the middle.
03:27So, if Kirk Sigmundi and Indiana win another national championship, nobody's going to care who they played.
03:32Yeah.
03:32It'll be brought up, oh, they didn't play anymore, all those different things.
03:35Yeah, but they didn't win a national championship last year because they played Kennesaw State in September.

03:40They won a national championship last year because they were better than everybody.
03:43Yeah, period.
03:43And eventually, especially if you're coming out of the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, whatever, like, you're going to
03:49play good teams in your conference schedule.

03:51Obviously, if you play in the Big Ten or the SEC, you're playing a harder conference schedule.
03:55But if you make the playoff, you're going to play those teams.
03:59Yes.
03:59Like, they beat – Indiana beat Alabama.
04:03And just because you played somebody in week three, you got less of a hole on your body.
04:09Right.
04:09Now, granted, if you beat whoever it may be in September as opposed to lose a close game to, well,
04:17it would be Texas A&M last year and Notre Dame, or Notre Dame lose to Texas A&M in
04:22Miami, then you don't get in the playoff.
04:23Right.
04:24And that's going to lead people to not schedule hard –
04:28That's why they're doing it.
04:29Early season.

04:30I mean, you want – it's about as many – it's about minimizing the losses.
04:35It's really hard to get into the playoff with three losses.

04:38You need to have two losses.
04:41And so, best way to do that is to make sure your schedule's easy.

04:46Maybe people will have harder schedules when the thing goes to 24, but I doubt it.
