Twenty-five years after the release of the original film, the cast and creators of ‘Super Troopers’ are back together to relive their most iconic scenes. Jay Chandrasekhar (Thorny), Kevin Heffernan (Farva), Steve Lemme (Mac), Paul Soter (Foster), and Erik Stolhanske (Rabbit) trace the journey from forming their sketch group Broken Lizard at Colgate University to making the cult comedy classic and reveal what fans can expect from the upcoming ‘Super Troopers 3.’

00:00Hi, we are the cast of Super Troopers.
00:02It's been almost 25 years since we released the first Super Troopers movie.
00:05And today, we're looking back at some of our most iconic scenes.
00:09Let's get started, right now!
00:18Broken Lizard is the sketch group that we formed while we were all in school together at Colgate University.
00:24And Jay was asked if he would put together a sketch comedy group.
00:28And after some resistance, he finally called up a bunch of folks and said,
00:32Yeah, we're gonna put on an improv and sketch show.
00:34So that went on for a few years at Colgate.
00:36And then as guys graduated, we moved to New York City and kept doing sketch.
00:40And started making little short films in between the live stage sketches.
00:44And fell in love with making the short films.
00:47And kept making bigger and longer movies until we started doing features.
00:51And that opening scene was, you know, based on a road trip, you know,
00:55being pulled over on and with a lot of drugs.
00:59Not us though.
01:00You know how fast you were going?
01:02Uh, 65?
01:0363.
01:04This is the beginning of Super Troopers 1.
01:06And the opening kind of set piece is the Super Troopers pulling over
01:09this group of kind of stoner kids in the car.
01:12And so the idea is let's put yourself inside that car and see what it's like to be those kids
01:17with a bunch of cops who would like to mess around with you.
01:20And so that was the kind of, uh, the genesis of writing that opening scene.
01:24And we didn't know if it would work.
01:25And we had, you know, studio executives at times that told us that it was not going to work
01:29because you could not start, you know, with these kids in the car.
01:32You had to start with your heroes.
01:33But we did it.
01:34And, you know, I remember the first time we showed it in front of an audience was at the Sundance
01:38Film Festival.
01:39And we had no idea. Jay and I took the film canisters from New York City,
01:43flew to Sundance, put the movie up, and that opening scene played.
01:47And it just played through the roof. And we knew that we had something there.
01:49S***, man. I was just about to pull out my nine and put a cop in that pig's ass.
01:56Oh, s***.
02:01Oh, my God.
02:05S***.
02:07S***.
02:11This was the first day of shooting.
02:13We were on the highway. We were such neophytes that that, you know, that stunt driver, he backs up.
02:19With me in the car.
02:20With him in the car.
02:22Screeches to a halt. The smoke flies up.
02:24And he comes in. He blew out the transmission of the police car.
02:27But we were all really excited because we'd never seen a live stunt before.
02:30And we were like, that's the coolest stunt I've ever seen.
02:32He's like, that's like the most basic stunt in the world that I could do.
02:35But we were super impressed by it.
02:37Yeah, we got it on film. One take.
02:39That's all we can have because we blew out the transmission, right?
02:47I'm already pulled over.
02:49I'm already pulled over.
02:49Pulled over further, man.
02:50I can't pull it.
02:51Sorry, I'm already pulled over.
02:52He's already pulled over.
02:53He can't pull over any further.
02:55It was the first scene we shot.
02:56You know, we were not comfortable yet, I think, improvising as much.
03:01I mean, I think there was a little bit of stuff.
03:02But for the most part, it's pretty...
03:03The line that was improvised is, he's already pulled over.
03:06And the reason was because the stuntman had dropped the transmission in that car.
03:12And so, you know, the plan was for both cars to go back onto the road and re-pull them
03:17over again.
03:17I think the actual blue car the kids were in stopped working as well.
03:22Yeah.
03:22And that car, since it wouldn't drive, Joey and Andre made up those lines.
03:28We can't pull over any farther. We're already pulled over.
03:30You want to know why I pulled you over?
03:34Littering.
03:35Officer, that's not ours.
03:37Candy bars.
03:39Littering and...
03:41Littering and...
03:42Littering and...
03:44Littering and...
03:45Littering and...
03:45Littering and...
03:48Littering and...
03:53Littering and...
03:54Littering and...
03:54Littering and smoking the reefer.
03:55Didn't you make a bet with the DP about that ear shot?
03:58I did.
03:58He didn't want to shoot that shot.
04:00And he said, I bet you it won't go in the movie.
04:02But what he didn't know is that I was going to be editing the film.
04:06And so, I won that bet.
04:08And he paid that bet.
04:09That's not ours, Candy Bars.
04:11I remember one of those lines that I think...
04:13Even I was like, that's just so ridiculous.
04:16Would that even make people laugh?
04:19Candy Bars.
04:20And then, years later, I went into a video store in the last days of there being video rental stores.
04:27And the signage for their snack area was like a drawing of him and candy bars.
04:34Yeah, there was a bachelor party up in Vermont that went over the Canadian border in an RV.
04:39And you get checked when you go to the... when you cross the border into Canada.
04:43And they found a joint on the dashboard of the RV.
04:47And they said, whose joint is this?
04:50Nobody took credit for it.
04:51So they said, okay, everybody unload off the RV.
04:54You're going to go in the holding cell.
04:55And there was one kid who was holding mushrooms for the entire bachelor party.
04:58And he just stuffed the mushrooms into his mouth and ate them all.
05:02And after three or four hours in the holding cell, his eyes were dilated, pitch black.
05:05And, you know, finally his big brother just said, I can't take it anymore.
05:08He said, it was my joint.
05:09And the Canadians were like, okay, well, then you turn around and you go back to the States
05:12and you don't come back here for seven years.
05:14And everybody was like, that's the punishment for this?
05:17And so they went back over the border and the kid tripped on mushrooms for 48 hours.
05:21And then we stole that scene.
05:23It was a friend of yours.
05:24It was a friend of yours.
05:27It was a friend.
05:30Oh, .
05:32He killed the cops.
05:33Oh, .
05:33Hellscore, man.
05:34This is a cop car.
05:36Hello.
05:37Hello.
05:37You boys like Mexico.
05:40That's kind of your most iconic quote, right?
05:44That people ask you for.
05:45That is one of the ones that people scream at me and they want me to write it on the
05:50autographs.
05:51And they also want me to shout it into their cell phone for their friends.
05:55I also remember, I think that was one of the first scenes I did.
05:58And I remember the direction you gave me because I was saying, you boys like Mexico.
06:01And you said, say Mexico.
06:04And that's the take where I said Mexico.
06:06And that's the one that goes in the movie.
06:07And we also, I think, you know, paid homage obviously to the Willy Wonka, you know, the snozzberries thing.
06:13I think we gave it a little new life, right?
06:16The snozzberry thing?
06:17Yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:17The snozzberries taste like snozzberries.
06:21It was kind of a small line in Willy Wonka.
06:24The snozzberries taste like snozzberries.
06:26These weed companies make snozzberry weed and all kinds of stuff now.
06:31Did Jeffrey improvise a line?
06:33Hello.
06:34Yes.
06:35Hello.
06:36I feel like that was one of the improvised lines.
06:37Yeah.
06:38Hello.
06:38Hello.
06:39These days, if you shot that, you would take those guys out of the car and just have the guy
06:43do donuts.
06:43With like, you know, stuntmen in the back.
06:46Right.
06:46Those poor guys were in the back while that driver's doing donuts.
06:49Having the time of their lives.
06:51It is fun being in those cars when a professional stunt driver is doing something like that.
06:56Yeah.
06:56Probably wanna do that these days.
06:58Yeah.
06:58Our shenanigans are cheeky and fun.
07:01Yeah.
07:01I mean, his shenanigans are cruel and tragic.
07:05Which makes them not shenanigans at all, really.
07:08Evil shenanigans.
07:09I swear to God, I'll pistol whip the next guy that says shenanigans.
07:15Hey, Farva.
07:17What's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?
07:22You mean shenanigans?
07:23Oh!
07:25You're talking about shenanigans, right?
07:26Put those away!
07:28We really intended for every scene to have some kind of sketch hook.
07:33And so it turns into the shenanigans scene.
07:36But we just were determined that there was always gonna be some sort of comic premise to every scene.
07:42And that's another example.
07:43But that shenanigans thing totally resonates.
07:45Like, you know, that's the thing.
07:46I get, you know, quoted at a lot.
07:49You know, people send me pictures of restaurants named shenanigans or them standing in front of them.
07:55And that's something.
07:56And I think you wrote that.
07:57Yeah.
07:58He did.
07:58He came in.
07:59Really early in the game.
08:01And, you know, usually as we write 20, 30 drafts of a script and we add jokes and take things
08:05out,
08:05things disappear, you know.
08:06But that was a scene that was written very early and lived, right?
08:11Yeah.
08:11Paul came into, we were meeting in my apartment and Paul, who, he didn't have a computer at the time.
08:16His ideas would all be on napkins and notepads and things like that.
08:20And he just walked in and he was like, be quiet, I gotta write a scene.
08:22And he sat down, he wrote the shenanigans scene.
08:25And I do believe it's probably the only scene that's ever been written by us that made it through the
08:30final cut untouched.
08:32Everything is like 30 drafts.
08:34Everything morphs again and again and again.
08:36So it's rare to have something that stays intact.
08:38I swear to God, I'll pistol whip the next guy that says shenanigans.
08:42Coxie is one of the greatest actors of all time.
08:45He really is.
08:46And we learned that on the first movie.
08:47He tends to start a little crusty.
08:51And then he warms up to us and then he begins to get annoyed with us because he realizes he's
08:55a professional and we're not.
08:57And then also with Coxie, you don't want to shoot after Dark because he's like a gremlin.
09:03If you get him wet or you feed him, he's going to start to get a little crusty again.
09:06But he loves us like his children, I think.
09:08He read this first script and then reached out to us or his people reached out to us.
09:13And he's a dramatic actor and he's a classically trained actor.
09:17But he loves comedy.
09:19And he was in a situation in his career where no one was giving him comedies and he wanted to
09:23be the next Jerry Lewis.
09:24Like he loved Jerry Lewis.
09:25He reached out to us and said, can you do it?
09:27And, you know, to us, we're trying to get like, you know, whoever, our parents, whoever we can get to
09:32fill a role.
09:32And all of a sudden this guy, Brian Cox, reaches out to us and it was fantastic.
09:35And we're like, yes.
09:37And he came and he brought this gravitas.
09:39Like, you know, he brought this thing that we didn't have.
09:42And we were just a bunch of goofballs.
09:43Yeah.
09:44And that gravitas and professionalism, I think, creates the great screen dynamic of what you would want out of a
09:50captain and then a bunch of knuckleheads.
09:52You know, if that had been Bill Murray, if it had been somebody we're used to seeing being funny, it
09:58doesn't work quite as well.
10:00Yeah.
10:00Maybe it's a testament to us.
10:02I don't know what it is, but he keeps coming back.
10:03So he came back for two.
10:04In between two and three, he does succession, which, you know, is maybe his most iconic role is that Logan
10:09Roy part.
10:10And he comes back to work with us again for some reason, because we didn't pay him.
10:14I think he just likes to come and play around with us because he doesn't have to.
10:18He would come into the set on all three movies almost in character, knowing that, you know, he has to
10:24dress us down the entire movie.
10:25So he comes in and he's just dressing us down in real life just to keep us in the vibe,
10:32I think, as the kids are saying.
10:33He would be insulted if you called him a method actor, though.
10:36Right.
10:36He totally would.
10:37Yeah.
10:37Yeah, we know about that.
10:40He's got a great line in the bloopers where Paul brings up Shakespeare.
10:43He says, I've done more Shakespeare than you've had hot meals.
10:47Which is true.
10:48Which is true.
10:49Which is true.
10:50Give me a, uh, a liter of cola.
10:52A what?
10:54A liter of cola?
10:56A liter of cola?
10:57A liter of cola?
10:57Do we make liter of cola?
10:59Yeah.
10:59At Colgate University, I used to go through the drive-through and, you know, I'd order a large Coke every
11:05Saturday morning to kind of, you know, get over my hangover.
11:08The management changed from an American to a Canadian.
11:11And this Canadian manager changed the name of the large to a leader.
11:16And I was like, this is America.
11:18I'm not saying leader.
11:19And he goes, well, then you're not getting a, you're not getting it.
11:22And we would argue through the speaker.
11:25And then we ended up with this scene.
11:28Will you just order a large farva?
11:30I don't want a large farva.
11:31I want a goddamn liter of cola.
11:34I don't know what that is.
11:35Liter is French.
11:37Forgive me some fucking cola before I break booze fucking lips.
11:40All right, all right.
11:41Relax.
11:42We always thought Brett Favre was a funny name.
11:44And we always thought the word larva was a disgusting word.
11:49And so it was put those two together.
11:51And you came up with farva.
11:53It rhymes with larva.
11:54Yeah, Brett Favre spells his name F-A-V-R-E.
11:57Yeah.
11:58And then mispronounces it Favre.
12:00Yeah.
12:01And we were like, let's pronounce it like it's written.
12:04And so we named him Favre.
12:06It's amazing how much progress you've made on your mustache there, Kevin.
12:10You can see how thin and sparse your mustache is here.
12:13And you've only got about 12 hair holes on your upper lip.
12:16But now look at you.
12:17You've really grown up, Kevin.
12:18You've come a long way, baby.
12:19A regular Sam Elliott now, right, guys?
12:21One.
12:22Two.
12:23Three.
12:25Do it.
12:25Oh, go girlfriend.
12:27I'm your mother.
12:28Come on, Thorny.
12:29You're losing to the rookie.
12:30It's embarrassing.
12:31Come on, rabbit.
12:32You can do it.
12:33Oh, rabbit.
12:34He's killing you.
12:35I got Thorny in front by a lot.
12:37It took a while to get that down.
12:38This is real right here.
12:39It's real, yeah.
12:39Oh.
12:41God damn it.
12:42And then here.
12:47Wow.
12:49That was real.
12:50A real reaction.
12:50That's a real reaction.
12:51Honest reaction right there.
12:52Well, originally the prop master put iced tea in there, but Jay's like, let me go take a look at
12:57that.
12:57And he's behind the monitor looking, taking a while, and he's like, it just doesn't look thick enough.
13:00And so he said, yeah, come on, you're from Minnesota.
13:02I'm from Chicago.
13:03Let's just do the real thing.
13:04Not really thinking how many takes it would take.
13:05But you can see in that take, it is much better with the thickness.
13:09Way better.
13:10Way better.
13:11But you didn't have to do it.
13:12There's no master, right?
13:13Where both of you are chugging.
13:15Are you really only chugging?
13:17The profile had iced tea in it.
13:18And so we tried to use that as little as possible.
13:22You see Eric's eyes darting, darting to, he's still sizing up where Thorny is in this.
13:30I like that.
13:30You sort of muttered that he said, you're from Minnesota.
13:35I'm from Chicago.
13:36Let's do this thing.
13:37Like how many, how many like dumb situations have the two of you gotten into about this Minnesota, Chicago thing?
13:43Well, that scene was kind of written based on our friendship.
13:46Our first day we met, we had a friendly rivalry that the Bears and the Vikings were tough for football
13:50teams.
13:51And then that led to us challenging each other to things in college as friends, like a big bucket of
13:55ice.
13:56We'd stick our arms in and see how long we could keep our arms in the longest.
13:58And that sort of led to this scene that was taking place in Vermont.
14:02So we thought, well, what could two friends do in Vermont to challenge each other?
14:07And that came up with maple syrup.
14:08Drink maple syrup.
14:09And now people challenge you to drink maple syrup wherever you go.
14:12Never again.
14:13Wherever you go.
14:14Never again.
14:15I drank two and a half bottles of syrup and Eric drank three.
14:18I was messing with it a little bit.
14:20I was like, you know, I think you need another take.
14:21I don't think you have it yet.
14:23And so he kept having to drink syrup well after we really had all the great footage we needed.
14:28Well, as good friends do, yes.
14:29After lunch, we had to start shooting and we went looking for these guys because they didn't come to the
14:35set.
14:36And we found them in their trailers with like the lights off, like shivering.
14:40Shaking, yes.
14:41Going through some sort of sugar shock or something.
14:43Yeah, laying on the ground shaking.
14:47Enhance.
14:49Enhance.
14:51Enhance.
14:53The enhance scene is, it's basically a straight homage to Blade Runner.
14:59Enhance 34 to 46.
15:02Where Harrison Ford is on his computer and he's enhancing the image and that's what that scene is.
15:08It's a good example of Coxie's crustiness too right there.
15:10Just print the damn thing.
15:12Just print the damn thing.
15:13Ah, just print the damn thing.
15:15Who wants cream?
15:17Nobody?
15:19Okay, no cream.
15:20We see Farva ask, he's making coffee and he says, who wants cream?
15:24And my dad, when I was, you know, I was on vacation with him and I got a coffee with
15:29cream in it.
15:29And he's like, why?
15:30What are you doing?
15:31And I said, well, it tastes better.
15:33He goes, that's just not very manly.
15:36And I was like, okay.
15:37Okay, so we made the other cops, none of them want to have cream because they're manly.
15:43And then Farva puts a ribbon around that joke and goes, okay, no cream.
15:47A bar of soap.
15:48Oh, .
15:49Got you good, you .
15:52Awesome prank, Farva.
15:53What the crap you pull, Matt?
15:55Look, fellas.
15:56Bite it, Rook.
15:57Make him look like a dick.
15:58Every Thursday night, I walk into the lodge to play hearts.
16:03And they always have my old fashioned just waiting there.
16:06I like that.
16:07I like it here.
16:09Oh, hell!
16:10Give me the goddamn soap!
16:14You know, we didn't want Brian to really bite into soap.
16:16That's what we would do.
16:17We would bite into soap.
16:18But we didn't want Brian to bite into soap.
16:19So props person went down to New York City, bought a bar of white chocolate and then sculpted
16:26this beautiful bar of soap and put it in his cup.
16:30And it came to do with scene and he bites into the bar of chocolate and all of a sudden
16:36he freaks out.
16:37And we're like, holy crap, did somebody put the soap in there?
16:40He goes, what is this?
16:42And we're like, it's chocolate.
16:43And he goes, I'm diabetic!
16:46And we all...
16:46We thought you would like it!
16:48And we all freaked out.
16:49We all went crazy.
16:50And we're like, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
16:52Would have preferred soap.
16:53I remember, I remember.
16:54And then he'd scramble in a small town to try to find a...
16:56He would find a non-sugar white chocolate.
17:01In a small town.
17:01A bar of soap.
17:02Yeah.
17:03Right.
17:03We'd do the scene.
17:04Do you remember on one take he bit the soap?
17:06He spit it at me and it went directly into my mouth?
17:08Yeah.
17:09Right.
17:10Yes.
17:11So I've had Brian Cox's wet chocolate in my mouth.
17:15Non-sugar chocolate.
17:16You've got to act with your mouth closed.
17:18I really do, but I was hanging open.
17:20His performance was so good.
17:22Jaw dropping.
17:23But yeah, I was genuinely scared and always surprised where it landed.
17:27You know, like I know one hit me in the throat at one point, so it's like, with like a
17:31nice wet slap.
17:33I was at a steakhouse down in Pensacola, Florida, and I had a nice meal and afterwards got a cup
17:38of coffee.
17:38My coffee was delivered to my table with the bar of soap in it.
17:42Like a high-end steak place.
17:44Are you saying meow?
17:46Am I saying meow?
17:47We decided that one of the silly games that these guys would play with people would be to say meow
17:54as many times as possible in a pullover.
17:56All right, meow.
17:57Hand over your license and registration.
18:00A little southern draw there?
18:01Yeah, yeah.
18:02Nice.
18:03Meow.
18:03Which makes no sense.
18:04The word meow sort of draws you to the southern accent.
18:07Right.
18:09There's something funny here, boy?
18:11No.
18:12No, no.
18:13Well, then why are you laughing, Mr. Larry Johnson?
18:16Larry Johnson of the...
18:17Named after the New York Knicks.
18:19Power forward.
18:20I'm sorry.
18:20Are you saying meow?
18:22Am I saying meow?
18:25I thought...
18:26Don't think, boy.
18:27Meow.
18:27Do you know how fast you were going?
18:29Mr. Gaffigan.
18:30Kevin didn't want Jim Gaffigan to be in the movie.
18:32He had a personal beef with Jim Gaffigan, which was from what, Kev?
18:36Well, it was, you know, it was kind of what, like, late 90s.
18:40I was auditioning for a lot of things in New York City.
18:42Like, you'd go in for commercials and stuff like that.
18:44And every time I went into the room, Jim Gaffigan was up against...
18:46I was up against Jim Gaffigan.
18:48Same food group.
18:48Kind of the same food group, right.
18:50You do the audition, and you never know if you get it until you see the commercial on TV.
18:52And every time I would see the commercial on TV, Jim Gaffigan would have gotten the commercial.
18:56It was Rolling Rock and Saturn, and he had all these commercials that he got.
19:00And so I was like, ah, screw that guy, you know?
19:02He was my competition.
19:03So then he comes in and he auditions for this movie, and I'm like, there is no way that
19:08we're giving this guy this part.
19:09No way.
19:10This guy is, you know, taking all those parts that I was going for.
19:13No way he's in my movie.
19:14And we all have veto power.
19:16You know, if you've got beef with somebody, you have veto power.
19:19But in this case, we vetoed the veto because his audition was so good.
19:23And on the day we were shooting this scene, Kevin wouldn't come over to the car.
19:27He sat at the other end of the highway at craft service, like depressed eating starbursts and things like that.
19:32And we'd walk over there and be like, you know, you should come join us.
19:34He's actually a really funny guy.
19:36He's a really cool guy.
19:37And Kevin didn't want to do that.
19:38Nah.
19:38In Super Troopers 2, we had him come back to do a scene.
19:41He's gotten so famous and successful that he flew himself down on a private jet.
19:46Did the scene for half a day and took off.
19:48Now what is so damn funny?
19:50I could have swore you said meow.
19:52Do I look like a cat to you, boy?
19:55Am I jumping around all nimly bimly from tree to tree?
19:59No, no.
20:00Am I drinking milk from a saucer?
20:02No.
20:03Well, do you see me eating mice?
20:06When you read this scene on paper, it looks ridiculous.
20:09Like it's, you know, there's like 20 meows on a page.
20:12And we were trying to get funding to make this movie and we're going to studios and that kind of
20:15stuff.
20:15And you give the scene and the executive be like, what the hell is this scene?
20:19There's like a guy saying meow over and over again.
20:23And we're like, just trust us.
20:24Just trust us.
20:24You know, it's going to be good.
20:25We always had a problem with the scene.
20:27And then now, you know, it's the scene people love.
20:29And yet it's the scene that made everybody pass on the script.
20:33Now people meow you all the time.
20:34Yeah.
20:35You know, it stopped getting meowed at.
20:36I watched it a couple of weeks ago with my young sons for the first time.
20:40Or they watched it for the first time.
20:41I've seen it a thousand times.
20:43The older of the sons, he and his friends have been playing, like, have been saying meow instead of now.
20:48And my mom said, you know, your dad and his friends invented that joke.
20:51And he was like, yeah, right.
20:53And then we play the movie for him.
20:55And like, now they think I'm really cool.
20:57I'm in that scene.
20:59Yeah.
21:00Come on, Rambathorn.
21:01What game we playing?
21:01What? No games.
21:03Don't bull me.
21:04Let's play one of those games I keep hearing about.
21:07You know, Mack and Foster did that thing, you know, with the who can say the most.
21:11It's like you ask what the game is and then you get mad when you find out what it is.
21:14Uh-huh.
21:15I know.
21:15Monetize it too.
21:16But then I want to play it.
21:16For 20 bucks, I'll call the guy a chicken .
21:21Easy ride.
21:23Easy ride.
21:24Easy ride.
21:25Easy ride.
21:25Easy ride.
21:26License and registration.
21:27That's my parents.
21:28Yeah, Kevin's parents right here.
21:29Those are my parents.
21:31Chicken .
21:33My dad was not necessarily totally on board with us or me going into the film business.
21:38Sure.
21:39And so then what we learned is that if you put the parents into the movies, then they're
21:44supportive.
21:45Softens their stance.
21:45So it was kind of like, hey, I said to my parents, you want to come do this scene?
21:49And my dad is a former judge and so he's kind of a very reserved guy.
21:54He's like, what's it going to be?
21:55I'm going to call you a chicken in the scene.
21:58So they came and I called them that, you know, 20 takes.
22:01And it was very cathartic to yell that at your parents over and over again.
22:05And didn't now, as a judge, as a respected member of the legal community, wasn't he dismayed
22:11that now chicken was the moniker that used to follow him around after that?
22:15Yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:16We were out at dinner one time and someone came to the table and said to my dad, hey,
22:20you're the chicken .
22:21And he walked away and my dad was like, ah, 32 years as a judge and I'm going to be
22:26remembered
22:26as the chicken .
22:30But also that was their actual car and my mom wouldn't sell that car.
22:34Like we shot that in whatever it was, 2000 and it was her champagne minivan.
22:40She would not get rid of it because of Super Troopers.
22:42It went over 200,000 miles and the bottom rotted out of it and she wouldn't get rid of it.
22:47And then finally we did the campaign for the crowdfunding for Super Troopers 2.
22:52And we actually tried to auction it off for the Super Troopers 2.
22:55Did you get rid of it?
22:56No, no, nobody bought it.
22:57Nobody bought it.
22:58Nobody wanted this champagne minivan with 200,000 miles on it.
23:02I give to you our first electric patrol car.
23:07Boom.
23:09Boom.
23:09Boom.
23:12Electricity.
23:12Boom.
23:13The third film was a little bit of a departure in the sense that you know the characters now
23:17and so we can have a little more fun with them expanding their universe.
23:20That's my shirt.
23:22It's a good sex shirt.
23:23Brian Cox is back.
23:24F***ing idiots.
23:25There's a lot of romance in this movie and you know Farva has this relationship where he's
23:29going to get married.
23:31And so I think you see a little bit more behind the curtain of the characters.
23:34You know their interpersonal stuff.
23:36We meet some of their parents and we see where they live and you know those kind of things.
23:40And I think it expands for the fans.
23:42I think that's something that you want to see right.
23:44You want to see a wider universe of Super Troopers now and I think that's what this one delivers.
23:48I also love the high tea scene.
23:50It's really the first time we meet Thorny's family.
23:54Mehta, may I tea you up?
23:57He's such a gentleman.
23:58Just call me Mr. T because I pity the fool who doesn't like tea.
24:03Mr. T pouring the tea.
24:07The nugget of it is what if Farva was sleeping with your sister.
24:10That was the nugget and we were like oh that's a pretty good thing you can run with because
24:14then you can expand it out into a wedding thing.
24:16What if Farva was marrying your sister?
24:18And then it was like given the relationship that Farva has with Thorny, Team Ramrod,
24:22it was like let's have that you know be the conflict.
24:26And then all of a sudden you have this kind of Indian cultural stuff.
24:28There's a Bollywood dance number and you know there's the Indian wardrobe and you know
24:32it just kind of expanded out of that nugget of what if Farva was sleeping with your sister.
24:36Jay was telling us about all the things that go on at an Indian wedding like there are sketches.
24:41Like they actually act out these sketches.
24:43These are like eight hour weddings.
24:45Three day weddings.
24:45Yeah.
24:46We wrote a lot longer.
24:47A lot of those Indian scenes for the wedding much much longer than they ended up in the movie.
24:51Well because it was so fertile.
24:52It's like Farva is doing the sketches.
24:54Farva's doing the dance.
24:56Farva's on an elephant.
24:57Farva's on an elephant.
24:58You know so you know at some point you're watching what you even have shot and you're
25:02like we gotta exclude some of this stuff too.
25:05Just for pacing but like it was it was fertile fertile ground.
25:08Thanks for watching.
25:09We hope you enjoyed all of our shenanigans.
25:11We hope you had as much fun as we did.
25:12We'll see you next time.
25:14Go see Super Troopers 3 in the theaters August 7th.
25:18Let's get the audiences laughing back in the theaters.
25:20This is a good old fashioned R rated American theatrical comedy.
25:24Let's go.
25:25Let's go.
25:25Let's go.
25:25Let's go.
