00:00Betting favorites, long shots, and your personal favorites in the major NFL awards before preseason games begin.
00:07But first, wanted to let you know, our buddy JT on Saturday, Care Dallas, his charity,
00:15is going to be collecting school supply donations for local families in need at Jack FM's Back to School Bash.
00:23All right. They also have access to limited edition shirts that have been designed by somebody here with our company.
00:33It was me. It was not. It was Pat Pat.
00:36It is going to take place at Hurtado BBQ in Arlington from noon to four.
00:42All right. So Hurtado BBQ in Arlington from noon to four.
00:46Get a chance for a really cool limited edition shirt.
00:49And more importantly, get a chance to donate school supplies for people who are in need.
00:54I told you years and years ago, I guess it was around COVID, honestly.
00:58I had no idea how many kids got their primary nutrition from school.
01:05Oh, yeah.
01:06And so when they talked about like, because we did some like meal donation events and stuff like that,
01:12because Jess was explaining to me, she's a teacher, in case you don't know,
01:16and that so many of their kids, like they get to eat breakfast and lunch because they go to school.
01:22And if they don't go to school, who the heck knows?
01:24And so I had no idea about that really kind of changed my perception on quite a few things.
01:29So your opportunity, Hurtado in Arlington, noon to four on Saturday to donate some school supplies and do a good
01:37thing.
01:37So Jess is a teacher, and she also taught you, and that's an amazing thing.
01:41Oh, that's true.
01:42Kevin, from the 432, this time last year, I texted in to y'all saying I was getting married.
01:46Oh!
01:47Now, gentlemen, happy to announce, I'm going to be a freaking dad.
01:50Woo!
01:51Now to decide if I name him Kevin, Corey, or Alec.
01:55I think you should name him Alec.
01:57I do too.
01:58Alec's an awesome name, but that's not Alec's name.
02:01That's true.
02:02Xander is just about the fanciest name you can have.
02:05It is.
02:05That and Bartholomew, those two names are just so fancy.
02:09Bart.
02:09Would you respond if we started calling you Alexander?
02:13No.
02:13Okay.
02:14Because that's how my mom used to scold me when I got in trouble as a kid.
02:18All right, follow-up question.
02:19Now you know how to aggressively get them to do stuff.
02:21On the rare occasion, if you screwed something up, could I call you Alexander?
02:26I feel like it's deserved.
02:27Okay!
02:28All right!
02:29Now we got something!
02:31Rangers won two in a row, we got this!
02:33Let's go!
02:34We're on fire.
02:35All right!
02:36I'm focusing in on MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive
02:43Rookie, Defensive Rookie, and Coach of the Year as the primary categories that we're going
02:48to go through today.
02:50Which award would you like to start with?
02:56Offensive Player of the Year.
02:57All right, let's go to Offensive Player of the Year.
03:02Who do you think would be the betting favorite to win Offensive Player of the Year?
03:07So essentially what we're going to do here is we can tell you the favorite, I'll ask you
03:11if you like this long shot, and maybe you tell me who you think is going to win.
03:17Offensive Player of the Year.
03:19I'm trying to figure out like a receiver.
03:22I'll say Jamar Chase.
03:24Jamar Chase is 10-1.
03:27He is the third favorite to win Offensive Player of the Year.
03:32Alec, who else do you think would be at the top of the heap in this conversation?
03:38You know who usually would be, but I don't know where he is now because of his offensive
03:43situation, Justin Jefferson.
03:45Justin Jefferson, because of probably the things that you just mentioned, is sixth on
03:51the list.
03:52He's around 15-16-1, depending on where you go.
03:56Leading the pack, Jameer Gibbs.
03:59Okay, running back.
04:00Yeah.
04:00So then Bijon's got to be in there as well.
04:02Bijon is second, and that's who I would go with for Offensive Player of the Year.
04:07But, what do you think about, as a little bit of a long shot, a little bit of a dark
04:13horse, Saquon Barkley hovering around 22-1?
04:18There does not seem to be overwhelming confidence in the quarterback, although that's probably
04:24been the case his entire career.
04:27A couple years ago, Saquon Barkley was just spectacular.
04:30What would you think about that as a long shot, about 22-1?
04:37I'm curious about their offensive line.
04:40Fair.
04:41You brought up Lane Johnson.
04:42Fair.
04:43They're older as an offensive line, and they struggled last year.
04:46So, I'm curious about that.
04:48I don't know how losing A.J. Brown affects this.
04:51Maybe it does become more like, well, we're going to him.
04:53I don't know if I'd trust Mikhailem in that much, to be like, we're going to him that often.
04:58So, maybe he does get the workload that does benefit it, but I'm just kind of curious if
05:05that offensive line is going to be able to do what they did two years ago for him.
05:09Also, from the 214, hey, Texter, are you sure you're that dad, the kid's dad?
05:14It could be Alex.
05:15Remember.
05:16Don't say that.
05:17That's not the way that it is.
05:19That's just for people we don't know.
05:20He has never been a home wrecker, all right?
05:22That's true.
05:23That is not his thing.
05:24He's a home saver.
05:25Yeah, he saves homes and children from the streets.
05:31Street justice.
05:32So, no to Saquon.
05:33I think he's going to get the workload.
05:38Okay.
05:38I just don't know if the production's going to be there because I'm not certain about that
05:41offensive line.
05:42It's an interesting long shot, though.
05:44All right, Alec, I'm going to throw out a different long shot for you.
05:47What would you think?
05:49You better say it.
05:50About Juul?
05:51No.
05:52You know what?
05:53I don't know if I have those betting odds.
05:55I'll have to look at that.
05:56I was actually going to move up the depth chart just a bit.
06:00What would you think about George Pickens at 45-1 for Offensive Player of the Year?
06:07I like it as a long shot just because people are going to think of CeeDee Lamb first whenever
06:12they think of the Cowboys.
06:13Yeah, because CeeDee is closer to about 18-1, give or take.
06:16Yeah, so I would throw 20 bucks on that just because people are going to think of CeeDee's
06:20name first and not exactly the production.
06:23I'm still looking.
06:24I cannot find Flanois betting odds yet.
06:28This is ridiculous.
06:29All right, that being said.
06:30This is ridiculous.
06:30I'll go to Kalshi instead.
06:31You have to make a choice regardless of the odds.
06:36Who do you think is going to win Offensive Player of the Year?
06:39You have to predict right now.
06:42I'm going with Bijan.
06:43Gibbs is actually a really good one.
06:45Okay.
06:45Gibbs is a really good option, especially with Montgomery gone.
06:48Right.
06:48And his workload should go up.
06:50Now, hold on.
06:50Is he going to get paid, though?
06:52Yeah, I think he'll play either way.
06:54But that is an interesting question because we saw another running back domino fall today
06:58with Jonathan Taylor getting the two-year $44 million extension.
07:01Mr. Medford, we go to you, Offensive Player of the Year.
07:05What say you?
07:06I would actually go Bijan Robinson if I was putting money on this because don't know who's
07:12playing quarterback exactly yet, so they're going to rely on him a ton, and he did just
07:17get paid, so maybe they say step up, buddy, even though you're already one of the best.
07:21By the way, about eight and a half, nine to one right there, so not too shabby.
07:26All right, which category would you like next?
07:30Defensive Player of the Year.
07:32Who do you think, assuming it won't be a repeat from JSN, who do you think is the favorite
07:42for Defensive Player of the Year?
07:45You should be able to get this.
07:48Not your favorite, the favorite.
07:51Oh, so not Caleb Downs?
07:54It's got to be Miles Garrett.
07:56Indeed it does.
07:58So, and...
07:59I already have a long shot, though.
08:01Ooh, tell me your long shot.
08:02Aaron Donald.
08:02Aaron Donald is only available at select places right now.
08:09Select them.
08:10However, if you were so inclined, 30 to one on your money.
08:17I believe that Aaron Donald is at like 90% now on Cal.
08:22I mean, he was just working out with them.
08:24Yeah.
08:25It was called a tryout.
08:27Yeah.
08:27But evidently, Trey Wingo...
08:29A tryout.
08:30They said, hey, we had them in for a tryout today, and Trey Wingo was like, that's not
08:34true.
08:34They had them in yesterday, but today was the last day they could report it.
08:38Yeah.
08:38So they had to report it for league purposes.
08:41Yeah.
08:41Yeah, that would be my...
08:43What a liberal use of the word tryout.
08:45Because isn't, like, Aaron Donald had a bunch of Defensive Players of the Year.
08:49Yeah, I think he's won three.
08:50And then Miles Garrett's like, I got them now.
08:52And so now they're on the same team.
08:55Are they just competing with the...
08:56Not that they are yet.
08:57That hasn't happened yet.
08:58But if they're on the same team, are they just competing with each other for it?
09:02And do they win Co-Defensive Player of the Year?
09:04And if that happens, do they just walk away?
09:07Like, does the betting market say, well, yes, you were right?
09:10Or do they say, no, you weren't right.
09:12It was Co.
09:13Also, I...
09:14No, you will win.
09:16Okay.
09:16You will cash on that.
09:17But also keep in mind, no player in the history of the NFL has ever won that award more than
09:21three times.
09:21He's won it three times.
09:23What about Miles?
09:24He's won it twice, I believe, now.
09:27What about Jared Verse?
09:29Jared Verse, about 23, 24 to 1.
09:32What do you think about that as a dark horse candidate?
09:36That's a good...
09:36That is a good dark horse candidate for sure.
09:40Or Jalen Carter's about 28 to 1.
09:42I don't think that's a bad long shot either.
09:45I wish guys like Christian Gonzalez and Quinjon Mitchell got a little more respect for what they did.
09:51Christian Gonzalez is very good, dude.
09:5355 to 1.
09:54Dude's an absolute stud.
09:55I just don't...
09:56He has to produce something Deron Blandish.
09:58Right.
09:59And even still, when you do something like that...
10:01I mean, Trayvon Diggs had, what, 11 interceptions?
10:03Yeah.
10:03And he still wasn't in the category of what sacks are.
10:07Yeah.
10:07Sacks seem to be more important when it comes to that.
10:10Because you need it to be amazing for you and middle of the road for the rest of the NFL
10:15when it comes to that.
10:16So, and I just feel like guys like Will Anderson, Aiden Hutchinson are going to be too up there to
10:22be able to, for a cornerback to work their way into it.
10:25And that is who I'm going to pick, Will Anderson.
10:28I like that pick, dude.
10:29As the defensive player of the year.
10:31Who is y'all's pick regardless of betting odds?
10:34Will Anderson is second on the list.
10:35It's about seven, seven and a half to one.
10:39I think I'm just going to go, I mean, with Miles Garrett.
10:42Sure.
10:43Feel pretty comfortable with that.
10:44It's tough to get a heated argument against that.
10:46Mr. Medford, what say you?
10:48This is the year that Will Anderson sets the league on fire and people realize you've got to watch Texans
10:55football if you want to see a beast.
10:57I'm going to have you guys pick offensive or defensive rookie of the year.
11:01Which category would you prefer?
11:03Offensive or defensive rookie of the year?
11:05Offensive rookie of the year.
11:08Who do you think is the favorite for offensive rookie of the year?
11:15Fernando Mendoza.
11:17He is not.
11:19What?
11:20Medford?
11:22Jeremiah Love.
11:23Jeremiah Love is a slight favorite over Mendoza.
11:27I think with the idea of being, when's Mendoza going to go in there?
11:31He's not far behind, but he is behind.
11:35And so for something like that too, I mean, Jeremiah Love's probably going to be on a losing team.
11:39Sure.
11:40Fernando Mendoza, if he starts, will probably be on a losing team whenever he starts, right?
11:46His record won't be good.
11:48So this is the one where it doesn't really matter, but it does help when you go back and look
11:53at Dak and Zeke early in their career.
11:55Their rookie seasons and how they were on a winning team and everybody was like, well look, they're one of
12:00the motors behind it.
12:01Now I have a really wild dark horse prediction for you.
12:06What would you think about Ty Simpson at 65-1?
12:10Now hear me out.
12:11No, I don't think this is a bad idea.
12:13Okay.
12:13He does not have like a Carson Beck style straight line, but if for some reason Stafford were to get
12:20hurt, you've got a hellacious team put around you already.
12:25That's part of the reason it's 65-1, but Alec, it looks like I might not have convinced you.
12:31What do you think of Ty Simpson at 65-1?
12:35No, you did convince me because my argument is, what are you going to do with that 10 bucks?
12:38Put it on the Hall of Fame game?
12:40No.
12:41So yeah, I would, honestly.
12:43By the way, in case you're curious, Carson Beck about 25-1.
12:47Do either of those do anything for you for a long shot?
12:51Carson Beck at 25-1.
12:52Ty Simpson at about 65-1.
12:55Hmm, Ty Simpson does something for him because, again, walking into that team, he could be on a winning team,
13:03and he has Sean McVay, who is a very brilliant offensive mind, who will make things easy for him to
13:10throw.
13:10Okay, I like that.
13:12Now, Alec, I'm going to definitely give you some credit for this when it comes down to it.
13:16My selection is going to be Carnell Tate as the Offensive Rookie of the Year with the Tennessee Titans.
13:24They, look, they might not be great, but it appears as though, theoretically, they could be moving in the right
13:31direction.
13:32Who is y'all's selection for Offensive Rookie of the Year?
13:37I think I'm going to go Jeremiah Love.
13:40It's hard not to go against him just because the talent is there, and I think that awful offense is
13:45going to rely on him a ton.
13:47Right.
13:48Mr. Major's Offensive Rookie of the Year, who's your pick?
13:51We're locking it in right now.
13:54Fernando Mendoza.
13:55I get it.
13:56Because they're going to get tired of Kirk Cousins very early.
13:58They're going to be like, why did we do this?
14:00Yeah.
14:00And they're going to say, let's go ahead and throw the rookie out there.
14:03Who do you think, three games?
14:05I honestly, quite honestly, I think it's going to be like seven.
14:09Okay.
14:10More middle, but I would give up after training camp.
14:14I would be like, get rid of Kirk Cousins.
14:16I gotcha.
