Evelyn is taken in by her biological family, the nouveau riche Millers, who abandoned her years ago. She faces constant humiliation: her adopted sister Chloe gives her a $1,000 discount card, her brother Charles calls her a “savage,” and her parents offer her cheap second-hand items. At school, Chloe has a classmate throw coffee on her and forces her to wear a maid costume.
