00:00PKR Deputy Secretary General Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad has rejected PAS's call to dissolve parliament if DAP leaders leave their government
00:09positions.
00:11Saifuddin noted that the unity government still had enough support to serve until the end of its term,
00:16and described the proposal by PAS Assistant Secretary General Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil as not fully thought out.
00:23He said the government was formed through the People's Mandate and should be allowed to continue,
00:29especially given what he described as its proven track record in driving the national economy.
00:36Saifuddin stressed the situation would remain stable even if DAP delegates decide that party leaders should leave government posts,
00:43as DAP MPs would still be part of the government bloc.
00:47The issue follows DAP Secretary General Loxio Fux's announcement that delegates will decide by secret ballot at the party's August
00:5616th Congress
00:57whether its leaders should resign from government positions.
01:01Khairul had argued that Malaysians should be allowed to decide on a new direction if DAP removes its leaders from
01:09the cabinet,
01:10saying such a move would show the unity government had lost cohesion.
01:15Saifuddin defended DAP's possible move as an internal strategic decision to refocus efforts on strengthening the party,
01:22rather than a threat to government stability.
01:25He said the government, which has more than two-thirds support among MPs,
01:30would have no trouble filling any vacant ministerial posts and dismiss claims of instability as unreasonable.
