00:03Well, okay, wait. It started like this. Now that I'm remembering, we played live just like a quick scratch track.
00:10We picked the tempo with the producer. We kind of been working on the tempos and picking them through pre
00:14-production. And then jammed it out together. And then you have like that raw piece that the drummer can play
00:21to. And then you erase the drums and he plays the real drums and we tracked all those. And then
00:26you go, okay, now let's work on guitars.
00:28And you know, like all that. So band members first, pianos and stuff next, and then vocals for a really
00:37long time. I spend a little bit of time on the vocals. I think it was like a month just
00:42singing.
00:43The songs are hard. I really pushed myself vocally, not on purpose, but when I got in there with all
00:48the songs that we'd chosen out of all the ones that we'd written, I was like, I'm just not giving
00:52myself a break. I'm not really sure if this is going to be possible live, but I'll do my best.
00:56Yeah. Part of that is having a great producer. And Nick is an awesome producer. He really helped me get
01:05the plan and have confidence in the decisions that we made.
01:08For me, I have a lot of ideas and sometimes it just comes down to, okay, with everything that I'm
01:14doing, I have two options. I could do it this way or I could do it this way.
01:17Should I just be on the piano or on the harp? Could I sing it like this or should the
01:19vocal go kind of down right there?
01:20And he's awesome because as we're doing these things, I'm asking him from the vocal booth or the piano room
01:25or whatever, which one of these should I do?
01:27He's good at helping me make a quick decision. I really trust his opinion because he makes great records and
01:34loves music that I love.
01:36And he gets it. And when we do stuff together and he has an idea, it's almost always right on.
01:41So it was really good for me and helped me to work a little bit faster, actually, that he could
01:44help me make those decisions.
01:46But as far as just like finishing the record and when is it done, it's just not done till it's
01:51done.
01:51I mean, we were pressed for time because we set a record release date that we really wanted kind of
01:57early on that was pushing it.
01:58Because we really wanted it to be out this year. It's been too long. I was like, I'm not waiting
02:02till 2012.
02:03We have to push this through and make it happen this fall.
02:05So we were kind of pushing it towards the end. But at the same time, if it meant waiting till
02:11next year to get it right, I would.
02:14I really would have. I didn't want to. And I'm so glad we didn't have to. But it's got to
02:18be right.
02:19You know, you can't force it through at the last minute after all that work.
02:23We actually, our first two shows are Brazil and Puerto Rico, which is really cool.
02:28We have two big shows there. And then the real tour starts in the U.S. for a few weeks
02:33and then in Europe for a few weeks.
02:35I'm a fan of women in rock. And if there's ever an opportunity to have a badass chick out with
02:41us on tour in any way, I want to do it. I'm in.
02:44I remember having a really cool relationship with, I still do, Emma from the Sick Puppies.
02:49They're a band that we toured with quite a bit. She's the bass player. And all of those guys are
02:54really great.
02:54But it's just, it's not just for the hangout. I love watching women play.
02:58I mean, I obviously, I am one. So it's just special and it's not so common.
03:03And I always want to further the cause because women are, so yeah.
03:08But our record releases on October 11th in the U.S.
03:11We're doing a standard and a deluxe version so you can get like all 16 songs, which I highly recommend.
03:17Because it was, it was every single song for us we wanted on the record.
03:22It was really hard to slim it down to 12 for the regular CD.
