00:18United Kingdom-based investigator Richard Templeman made the admission during cross-examination by Najib's lawyer, Tanshri Muhammad Shafi Abdullah, in
00:28the one MDB civil suit against Najib and six others on Tuesday.
00:32Muhammad Shafi told the court that Najib had received 681 million U.S. dollars before returning 620 million U.S.
00:42dollars to the Tanor account a few months later.
00:46When asked whether he had investigated if the 620 million U.S. dollars was subsequently routed back to Najib, Templeman
00:55replied that he did not know, but maintained that he had investigated the relevant matters.
01:01Templeman also confirmed that he had not seen any document relating to Najib's claim that the transfer of funds into
01:08his account had received approval from Bank Nagara Malaysia.
01:11Muhammad Shafi further highlighted that Templeman only took over the investigation in July 2021, two months after one MDB filed
01:22the civil suit.
01:23Templeman agreed that the lawsuit had already been initiated before he began his investigation.
