Transcript
00:00Prime Minister Kamala Prasad-Bissasa is refusing to say whether she will accede to opposition leader Penelope Beckles' call for
00:08a media briefing,
00:09insisting instead that the PNM has far more questions to answer about its own record in office.
00:16When asked if she intended to hold a news conference, the Prime Minister did not answer directly.
00:22Instead, she told TV6,
00:43The Prime Minister argued there is no difference between Beckles and former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley,
00:49claiming neither used media briefings to address issues such as drug trafficking, gang violence and crime during the PNM's nine
00:58years in office.
00:59Prasad-Bissasa also criticized what she described as the silence of members of the Syrian-Lebanese community, the PNM and
01:08even Dr. Rowley
01:09over comments made by Genevieve Hadid and star Sabga, saying many, including the media, were attempting to ignore the use
01:18of the word Kuli.
01:19Asked whether Independence Day could be an opportunity to promote national unity following the heated political exchanges surrounding Emancipation Day,
01:28the Prime Minister instead repeated her claim that the PNM resorts to hatred, racism and division whenever it's an opposition.
01:35She alleges PNM supporters had planned to target her at Saturday's Emancipation celebrations,
01:42but said those plans failed because she did not attend.
01:45Prasad-Bissasa said,
01:47Imagine PNM MPs and supporters getting up early, heart and mind full of hatred,
01:54getting dressed and going down to Port of Spain in the hot sun to cuss Kamla, the stinking Kuli, and
02:01then your planned bus.
02:02That is the example that the PNM MPs and supporters set for the younger generations to denigrate and desecrate Emancipation
02:11Day.
02:11She says the PNM MPs and supporters are wallowing in hatred and racism because the freeness is over,
02:19while the rest of the country moves on in hard-working ways to improve lives and society.
02:25Prasad-Bissasa says she eagerly looks forward to round two of Boo Kamla, the stinking Kuli,
02:32on Independence Day, where star cheese and chilled bottled water will be available for all attendees.
