00:00What is the rose and the thorn of working with your mom?
00:04Oh, I mean, the rose is that it's my mom, and, you know, we're obviously very close,
00:09and we're both passionate about this art form, you know?
00:14Even though we see things slightly differently, even though we come from the same kind of background
00:19of, like, wanting to see the fundamentals, we want to know what the dance is.
00:24The thorn, I wouldn't really call it a thorn, but, like, we do see things a little bit differently,
00:29like, the cool thing is for her is she's only ever judged in the Dancing with the Stars
00:35strictly-come-dancing space, right?
00:37Whereas I've been a pro for 20-plus seasons, so I'm coming from that side.
00:42So that's where I think our conflict comes from because I have walked in those contestant shoes.
00:47I have been a pro for so long.
00:49I know what it feels like to be in that studio and, like, have a routine not hit as hard
00:54as you were hoping
00:54or have a routine that you're like, ooh, I don't know about this one,
00:57and then it comes together on the night, you know?
00:59And then, you know, when you get hard feedback, it's tough.
01:02It's tough, you know?
01:03And she looks at it from the, like, technical, creative standpoint.
01:08So I think it's kind of cool to have a judge's perspective
01:11and someone who's, you know, competed for so long's perspective.
