00:00Unseasonal rainfall for parts of the west, while wintry conditions kick back in for the
00:04east this week.
00:05I'm Angus, this is the National Weather Forecast at the Bureau of Meteorology.
00:08Let's take a look at the weather for the 4th of August, that'll be Tuesday, and we
00:13can see some rain really spreading across the west coast during the morning on Tuesday,
00:18all the way from the south coast way up to the northwest.
00:21Through central Australia, high pressure keeps things relatively settled and in control,
00:25but across the southeast, a messy looking pair of lows near Tasmania will bring some scattered
00:31showers through Victoria and Tasmania tomorrow, but we will see cold air spreading much further
00:37northwards into New South Wales, South Australia and even southern Queensland over the course
00:41of the next two to three days.
00:43Let's go around the states, starting in Queensland, and it will be a dry, settled and sunny day
00:48near statewide here.
00:49The only risk for showers is the north tropical coast area about in south of Cairns.
00:54Temperatures in the morning will be fresh, but daytime highs very mild indeed, including
00:5923 degrees in Brisbane.
01:02A cold morning is expected across New South Wales tomorrow.
01:05Many places in the low single digits, some trending towards sub-zero, could see some negatives
01:10around parts of the interior, particularly on the western slopes and plains.
01:14Daytime maximum temperatures trending near average, about 20 degrees across the east coast,
01:1919 in Sydney, cooler inland including Canberra at 12.
01:23Chance for rainfall around the snowy mountains and snowy valleys, and we could even see a
01:27flurry of snow above about a thousand metres.
01:31Southwesterly winds will pepper southern and eastern Victoria with showers through the day
01:35tomorrow.
01:36None of the showers are expected to be especially heavy or prolonged, meaning our rainfall totals
01:40won't be large, but it will feel like a bit of a wet day everywhere from Warrnambool,
01:44across Geelong, out through Melbourne, down to Wilson's Prom and right across Gippsland.
01:49All of these places expecting to see at least a couple of stints of showery weather tomorrow.
01:53It will feel very wintery as well because the winds are chilly and fairly brisk.
01:57On the northern side of the range is much less rainfall, but still getting some of those
02:02cool winds and cloudy skies throughout the day.
02:05Melbourne's got a high of 13, but given that wind chill, might feel more like 10 degrees.
02:10Scattered showers expected around parts of Tasmania tomorrow.
02:13Maybe Hobart's seeing a little bit of rainfall around lunchtime, but plenty of dry weather
02:17either side of that.
02:18As we get towards the afternoon and evening, the west coast starts to see some more substantial
02:22wet weather.
02:23Overall, our rainfall totals expected to be fairly low, and some spots, particularly around
02:27Launceston and towards the east coast, might see nothing at all.
02:31The wind shouldn't be especially strong, but temperatures will be about average.
02:37This time around, the rain associated with the wet weather in the south mostly avoids South
02:42Australia.
02:43So we're looking at a pretty dry day across the state here.
02:45It will be fairly cloudy through our southern districts, with the chance of a spot of very
02:49light drizzle, but I wouldn't read much into that wet weather risk.
02:53As you track northwards, it's both sunnier and warmer.
02:55We could see temperatures into the 20s for central parts of the country, but we're likely
03:00to be hanging in the mid-teens around southern parts of the state.
03:03Adelaide has a high of 14.
03:05The wind will be light, so spending time outdoors is not too unpleasant.
03:09This is where the action is out west when it comes to rainfall.
03:12Widespread wet weather all the way from Exmouth down to Albany during the morning.
03:16For those of you in Perth, most of your rain is actually going to come overnight and through
03:20the early morning.
03:21So as you're getting up and getting into your day tomorrow, we're already on the improving
03:25trend.
03:25And from lunchtime onwards, it's actually tending really bright and quite sunny for areas south
03:31of Geraldton.
03:32That said, we will get a bit of rainfall in the next 24 hours, with many people between
03:365 and 15 millimetres of rain.
03:38But we actually could see some heavier falls right around the northwest.
03:42Parts of the Gascoigne and Pilbara between Carnarvon and Exmouth could see closer to 50 millimetres,
03:47maybe more.
03:48And that could lead to some areas of flash flooding up around this corner of the state.
03:52So definitely something to keep in mind there.
03:54Perth headed for 19 degrees, morning rainfall but brightening up.
03:58And across the north of the country, it's very settled and sunny.
04:02That's how we've been for the last few days.
04:04That's how we're going to continue into Tuesday and through the week beyond.
04:08Temperatures in the 20s down south, in the 30s up north.
04:11And across the top end, there are a number of fires at the moment.
04:15It's a combination of bushfires and planned burns, but that's creating some smoky conditions
04:19for communities around northern parts of the Northern Territory, as well as some parts
04:24of the Kimberley in Western Australia.
