00:27And, like you said, going to a team like the Dodgers, having a shot to be part of history, you

00:50You know, I'm excited.
00:53They've got a good group.
00:54You know, you hear everything across the way.
00:57I'm excited, though.
00:59We said last week on Shine Time that our anticipation was you were going to see Tariq Skubal traded to
01:05the L.A. Dodgers over the weekend,
01:07and that would be the lead of Monday's show, and here it is.
01:10And I got to tell you, if you're a fan of the L.A. Dodgers, you have to be absolutely,
01:16positively thrilled.
01:17This was exactly what this team needed.
01:20When you look at the injuries and the rotation with Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell and Shohei Otani,
01:28and this, if you're a Dodger fan watching on NBC last night, was a thing of beauty.
01:34Skubal goes from Detroit to L.A., meets his teammate, says hello to Dave Roberts.
01:39He's wearing Dodger blue.
01:41Clayton Kershaw was on the broadcast last night.
01:45That's right out of central casting in Hollywood.
01:49Absolutely, positively perfect.
01:52So, what was the mindset for Andrew Freeman and the Dodgers playing the Rich Get Richer game?
01:58Here's the Dodgers president of baseball operations with an explanation.
02:04Obviously, there are no guarantees in terms of other things happening.
02:08We don't know what the world's going to look like at the end of September.
02:13And so, yeah, I mean, I don't think we went into this saying this is an acute need.
02:18But as we've talked about a lot, whenever there's a starter level player that is available
02:24that can really shift championship odds, those are the moments that will be more aggressive.
02:29And we've tried in other instances and not lined up and others where we have.
02:35But I think being by the backboard and doing everything we can to put ourselves in the best
02:42position with the core we have right now, with the way they go about their preparation
02:47to do everything they can to win a championship, when we can add to that and enhance our chances,
02:54you know, we're going to be aggressive to do so.
02:56Now, that is amazing.

03:05tough guys, why the Dodgers go out and get Scoobble.
03:09And we talked about this at length last week leading up.
03:13Of course, the Dodgers were going to be the team that got Scoobble.
03:16Why?
03:17Because they have three pitchers.
03:19When you look at Glass now, Snell, Otani, who were hurts.
03:23The Brewers, not the Dodgers, best record when you look at it in the National League.
03:29The Dodgers only care about one thing, winning a championship for the guys in the locker room,
03:36for their amazing fans.
03:38That is the standard.
03:40The Dodgers trading for Scoobble is everything right with baseball.
03:46The Dodgers trading for Scoobble is everything right with sports.
03:53Their farm system is loaded.
03:56So they told Detroit, take your pick.
03:59And they were still able to keep their best prospects.
04:03I mean, it's kind of crazy when you stop and look at it.
04:06And honestly, when I say crazy, it's crazy that other teams didn't, at the end of the
04:12day, go out and do this.
04:14I mean, the Milwaukee Brewers absolutely could have done it.
04:17Absolutely should have done it.
04:19If they would have had Mizorowski and Scoobble in the rotation together, they absolutely could
04:25have knocked off the Dodgers.
04:27Dodgers are always going to be my pick to win it, right?
04:29At every single turn, preseason, midway point of the season, trade deadline.
04:35Dodgers are the team that I believe has the infrastructure and the talent.
04:39I love the manager.
04:40I love the stars.
04:41I expect the Dodgers to win their third straight.
04:45But of the last three years, 2024, 2025, 2026, this season is the one they're the most vulnerable.
04:53So if the Brew crew went after it, even though we all know Scoobble is going to take the most
04:58money, and by the way, could be the Dodgers, could be the Mets, could be the Blue Jays,
05:04could be the Giants, could be another big market team, right?
05:07That's what's going to happen here.
05:09So he's Scott Boras' client.
05:12All the Brewers have to do is say, we're going for the jugular.
05:16We would rather, what a concept, win a championship or be in position to win a championship than
05:22stare at Baseball America prospect rankings and see how high we are on the list.
05:29That's the difference between the Dodgers and everybody else, okay?
05:32I don't want to hear, well, you need to keep the prospects and you fill out the roster.
05:37Nonsense.
05:37The Tampa Rays could have done this.
05:39The Brewers could have and should have done this.
05:42You know, and those are the smaller payroll teams.
05:45By the way, we're talking about the Brewers and the Rays, who right now are the leaders
05:49in the National League and the American League, respectively, in terms of winning percentage.
05:53So, those teams absolutely could have made those trades.
05:58The Dodgers, there is an awesome feeling and an accountability to everyone in that clubhouse,
06:04to the history and tradition of the team, to the fan base that wants to win championships
06:11every single year.
06:12And by the way, I can't hear some of these baseball fans.
06:17Like, I'm a Yankees fan.
06:18I mean, the Yankees traded for Cecil Fielder and Denny Nagel at trade deadlines.
06:22Won a World Series one year and said, eh, we'll trade David Wells for Roger Clements.
06:27We've seen the Mets.
06:29We've seen the Red Sox.
06:30We've seen the Cubs.
06:31We've seen the Phillies.
06:32We've seen the Giants, among others, make trades at the deadline.
06:37We've seen the Angels in the past do it, when they actually cared about Major League Baseball.
06:42I mean, please, this is amazing.
06:45And you look at school ball, I mean, what are we talking about?
06:48We're talking about 2024, 2025.
06:50We're talking about back-to-back Cy Youngs, 31-10, 2-3 ERA, 469 Ks against 6 and 62 starts.
06:59The guy's unbelievable.
07:00And then you take a look at this year, 116 strikeouts, 14 walks, and 96 innings.
07:06And this is obviously a year where you have to deal with that injury in the middle of the season.
07:09So, the Dodgers were super smart and super calculated.
07:14I don't want to hear whether they're going to create a work stoppage.
07:17So, let me get this straight.
07:19You think that because the Dodgers trade for school ball, this means that, you know, there's going to be a
07:25work stoppage in baseball, and that's going to ultimately be the tipping point?
07:29There's going to be a work stoppage in baseball if the owners and the Players Association can't get on the
07:34same page.
07:34It's not about the Dodgers.
07:36If the Brewers win the World Series this year, right, there still could be a work stoppage.
07:42All right?
07:43Let's be crystal clear about that.
07:44I will never rip a team that plays within the rules and does everything they can to win a championship.
07:51That's why Freddie Freeman signed in the first place.
07:53That's why Mookie Betts signed in the first place.
07:55That's why Shohei Ohtani signed in the first place.
07:58Ohtani was languishing on the Angels where they don't give a damn about wins and losses.
08:02He wants to be somewhere where that's all they do and care about winning.
08:06That's why they signed Edwin Diaz.
08:08That's why they signed Kyle Tucker.
08:10And, again, I don't want to hear it that other teams can't.
08:13Other teams won't.
08:15There's a difference.
08:16Big market teams, small market teams.
08:18And, by the way, last time I checked, you know, the Brewers being in first in the National League, the
08:23Rays being in first in the American League,
08:24they're not in the top half when it comes to payroll.
08:28Look, you'd rather have money than not.
08:30I get it.
08:31Anyone see the Mets record?
08:32I mean, last time I checked, the Angels are in market number two, right?
08:36Let's be clear about that.
08:38You know, you'd rather be a have than a have nod, but let's chill the hell out.
08:42The Dodgers saw injury.
08:45The Dodgers saw opportunity.
08:47The Dodgers were able to tell the Detroit Tigers and take advantage of how clueless they were.
08:52And, by the way, we have to rant about this.
08:55Dodgers, the Tigers should have traded Schuble this past offseason and got everyone involved.
09:01It's not the Dodgers' fault that the Tigers had no idea which way it was up.
09:04And, by the way, if the high-spending Blue Jays or high-spending Mets were relevant, they would have made
09:12a trade for Schuble.
09:12And no one knows if Schuble's even going to re-sign with the Dodgers.
09:16Scott Boris is his agent.
09:18You think he's leaving a dollar on the table?
09:20If the San Francisco Giants, you know, decide to offer him a dollar more than the Dodgers, he'll go there.
09:27But, yes, does this swing the pendulum in favor of the Dodgers?
09:30Of course.
09:31And that's wonderful.
09:32And that's amazing.
09:34But I can't get enough here when you take a look at the Dodgers doing anything and everything to win.
09:40They don't rest on their laurels.
09:42Schuble, Yamamoto, Otani, Snell, Glasnow, Woblowski in the rotation.
09:47I mean, that's amazing.
09:49And I love that.
09:50And, by the way, they just got swept over the weekend by the Boston Red Sox.
09:55This is as vulnerable a group of Dodgers as we've seen in the last few years.
09:59So what are they supposed to do?
10:00Sit on their hands?
10:02Just decide we're not going to go out and try because, you know, people with a keyboard are going to
10:07say, oh, you're killing baseball?
10:10Nonsense.
10:11The Dodgers this year, even though they're the biggest favorites, they're not on wins and losses, the best team in
10:18the game.
10:18They have injury.
10:20They have issues.
10:20They've been vulnerable.
10:21Mookie Betts has not had a great season.
10:23Taster Hernandez has not had a great season.
10:25So this is everything.
10:28It's everything right with baseball.
10:30If you're a fan of the Dodgers, it's what you want.
10:34It's what you expect.
10:35It's what you demand.
10:37When there's one criteria, we want to win the World Series.
10:41Do the Brewers want to win the World Series?
10:43Do the Rays want to win the World Series?
10:45Among other teams.
10:46Do the Atlanta Braves want to win the World Series?
10:49These teams absolutely could have done it.
10:51They chose not to.
10:53So that's a credit to the Dodgers, not some kind of baseball Armageddon and shame on the Dodgers.
10:59Love every single second of the Dodger way.
11:03And I hope they get rewarded with another championship.
11:06Meanwhile, the team that's trying to dethrone L.A., the Philadelphia Phillies, they made some news.
11:12Remember last week when Bryce Harper and Don Mattingly had a bit of a differing opinion on whether or not
11:17Philly needed to get involved in the trade deadline sweepstakes?
11:21Here's a refresher.
11:23Yeah, man, I think we need some help, you know.
11:26But, you know, I think we've proved, you know, pretty much all year we've done a pretty good job.
11:31But, you know, any time you can, you know, get some help in here and reinforcements, I think it helps.
11:35Bryce said last night in the game he thinks that the team needs a little bit of help at the
11:38deadline.
11:39Do you sense maybe guys thinking about that or would that be on guys' minds, like as the deadline gets
11:45closer?
11:46I sense Bryce thinking about it.
11:48I don't really sense anybody else thinking about it, honestly.
11:53I mean, you've been through this.
11:54Guys want to be GMs, what you need, without a real understanding of where the organization is, exactly where this
12:03thing goes, not only this year but moving forward.
12:06So, again, players like being GMs and making calls and spending other people's money.
12:15So, let's let it go with that.
12:20It's pretty well documented on Shine Time.
12:22Don Mattingly is my guy.
12:23I love when Bryce Harper did that because certain times when stars have the ability, superstars, to speak their minds,
12:32listen.
12:34Teams listen.
12:35They pay attention, especially when you pick and choose when to swing the hammer.
12:39Well, Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies.
12:42That's how I'm framing it.
12:42Not Dave Dombrowski and the Phillies, not Don Mattingly and the Phillies, not general manager Don Sun-Preston Mattingly and
12:49the Phillies.
12:50Bryce Harper and the Phillies made a trade today for the perfect offensive ball player, Louisa Rice, who I'm obsessed
12:58with.
12:58And Louisa Rice puts the bat on the ball.
13:01Louisa Rice, the king of the batting average.
13:04Louisa Rice always plays big in big spots.
13:08Louisa Rice is exactly what the doctor ordered.
13:12What a phenomenal trade.
13:14This is absolutely amazing when you look at it from the Philadelphia Phillies perspective.
13:19If there was one guy who was available who would have fit the bill of exactly what Bryce Harper was
13:26talking about, that's it.
13:28So everything that Harper asked for, he was able to get.
13:32Arise has that sweet swing.
13:34Look, I'm not going to say that, you know, he's what Don Mattingly was as a player,
13:39but it's someone from Mattingly's era that I know that Donnie baseball can appreciate in terms of a contact hitter
13:46and Wade Boggs-esque.
13:48And I'm absolutely obsessed.
13:50So I think this is going to help Philadelphia, help turn Philadelphia around.
13:55Right guy, right time.
13:57And that's why it's a phenomenal job by someone at the end of the day like Bryce Harper, seizing that
14:03moment.
14:04I still think if you're ranking teams that can win the National League,
14:08because I still believe in the Phillies' top-end pitching.
14:11I still love their power.
14:12I think it's the Dodgers draw a line, and I would put Bryce Harper and Louisa Arise and Kyle Schwarber
14:20and company
14:20second on the list in terms of being next most likely here to ultimately win the NL.
14:27Phenomenal job by the Phillies.
14:28Phenomenal job by Bryce Harper.
14:30From the class of the NL East to the dregs, the Mets.
14:34New York traded a couple of top prospects to the Brewers in the offseason to get starter Freddy Peralta.
14:42And I thought this could be a terrific, tremendous move.
14:45But no.
14:47His ERA was five.
14:49He won five games.
14:51And they moved him to the class of the American League at the moment, the Tampa Rays.
14:58So when you look at it from a Rays perspective, this is absolutely terrific.
15:04First of all, if you're a Mets fan and you knew that the team was going to sell,
15:09season was over when they had their 12-game losing streak.
15:11I mean, Peralta in so many ways is the snapshot of failure, where he was supposed to be the one
15:18automatic, right?
15:19In an offseason where I hated basically everything for the Mets, I loved the Peralta deal.
15:23Loved it.
15:24I thought he was going to be terrific.
15:25He was a train wreck, which is why I think if you're a fan of the Rays or if you're
15:31a fan of the Yankees like me,
15:34now you kind of stand up a little straighter and pay more attention to Tampa.
15:38The offense is still pretty miserable.
15:40But I think Freddy Peralta needing to get the hell out of New York, go play for Kevin Cash,
15:46that incredible culture, the antithesis of, you know, the chaos and nonsense they have in New York with the Mets.
15:52I think that the Rays are now officially, if you didn't believe it, and their offense is what it is,
15:59the Rays are for real.
16:00When you have, obviously, that rotation with a real big four, and you have Rasmussen, and you have Shano, and
16:07you have Nick Martinez,
16:09that is absolutely terrific.
16:11And now that means, and the Rays, as we speak, are better than the Yankees.
16:16They're in first place.
16:17Now they can compete with the Yankees' rotation, which is obviously as good as any in the top big three,
16:24with Schlittler and obviously Cole and Max Fried for the Yankees at the top of that rotation.
16:30So, even though the Rays, and I'm critical, they didn't go all in here for Scoobble,
16:35Peralta, right guy, right time for the Tampa Rays, and also, it's the end of an error.
16:41E-R-R-O-R for the Mets.
16:44I mean, the snapshot of failure, when you look at David Stearns and what transpired this year,
16:51really just underscores what a disaster this was for the Mets.
16:55And this is a terrific deal now, with a real rotation for the Tampa Rays.
17:00And as a Yankee fan, I'm concerned.
17:02Speaking of the Yankees, I mean, my goodness, they can't hit.
17:07I mean, everybody's hurt.
17:08The offense is a mess.
17:10But I do love what they did yesterday, acquiring Luis Garcia Jr. from the Nationals
17:17in exchange for a bunch of guys that no one is ever going to think about ever again,
17:23starting with Jake Byrd.
17:25Byrd, the word.
17:27Go fly to Washington.
17:29Garcia's 26 years old, and at the moment, you look at Garcia,
17:34he leads the NL in slugging percentage.
17:37Now, I am a huge Luis Garcia fan, right?
17:40And he's having the best year of his career, and, you know, he's got 23 homers,
17:44283 batting average.
17:45I wanted the Yankees to get a righty.
17:47They get a lefty, which I'm going to sign off on,
17:50because he can flat-out rake.
17:53And the Yankees' offense has been deplorable.
17:54They take a series against the Cubbies, winning two out of three
17:57against a really good Cubs team at Wrigley Field.
17:59They scored six runs in the series.
18:01So, I think getting someone like Garcia is absolutely terrific
18:06and absolutely tremendous.
18:08There's got to be more for the Yankees.
18:10Also, Paul Goldschmidt hitting well under the Mendoza line on the 200
18:15against righties.
18:16You know, I want Garcia playing every single day.
18:19You want to play him a little in second?
18:20That's fine.
18:21You want to DH him on occasion?
18:22That's fine.
18:23But that was a terrific, tremendous move when you look at it
18:26from our guy Brian Cashman.
18:28So, I think that was a lefty stick who absolutely can rake,
18:34who can flat-out hits, who can go out and do his thing.
18:38And I really just absolutely love what Garcia brings to the table.
18:44And I thought that was a terrific and tremendous move by the Yankees.
18:49Obviously, we still have time before the trade deadline.
18:52We'd like to see some more.
18:54I would love a righty stick.
18:55I'd love a third baseman.
18:56I'd love some help in the bullpen.
18:59I would love to never see Anthony Volpe's face ever again.
19:03Just a little bit of a wish list here for the Yankees.
19:07So, the Yankees get Luis Garcia Jr.
19:10And the Boston Red Sox have made a monster trade today.
19:14And honestly, it's phenomenal.
19:17And as a Yankee fan, it makes me sick.
19:20John Heyman from the New York Post has been all over it all day
19:24and broke the story.
19:26Orioles catcher Adley Rushman traded to the Boston Red Sox.
19:32Wow.
19:33The Yankees were rumored to be in on Rushman.
19:37Heyman and Joel Sherman have been all over that for a week now.
19:41And Boston swoops in day of the baseball trade deadline.
19:46And they trade for the power-hitting catcher who is perfect for Boston.
19:51And would have been perfect for the Yankees.
19:55I mean, the Yankee catching situation is awful.
19:59Austin Wells can't hit.
20:00Austin Wells can't catch.
20:02Austin Wells doesn't know when to challenge and when not to.
20:06We saw that on Sunday.
20:08And Adley Rushman goes to Boston.
20:12I mean, this is wild.
20:14And how about the Red Sox?
20:15They bust out the brooms over the weekend.
20:18They sweep away the big, bad L.A. Dodgers in three games in L.A.
20:24in what could be, let's be honest here, a World Series preview.
20:28Not to mention the fact that the Red Sox are 28-5 in their last 33 games.
20:3728-5, June 24th, they were 32-46.
20:42The hell's going on here?
20:44I mean, it's absolutely wild.
20:46And what a credit to Chad Tracy and the guys in that clubhouse.
20:50And Boston's just been able to find a way to rally,
20:54despite all the injuries and the wretched start and firing Alex Cora.
20:58And listen, Darren's striking distance now.
21:02Only two and a half games behind the Yankees.
21:04Only five games behind Tampa.
21:06And now I expect Boston to make the playoffs.
21:09Their pitching has been really solid.
21:11Their offense has been ridiculously tough and incredibly clutch.
21:16And they deserve a lot of credit.
21:17And this, this has that old-school kind of feel, right,
21:21where it's the Red Sox and the Yankees vying for the same player.
21:25And the fact that Boston is able to win this sweepstakes, I mean,
21:29this is like, you know, Theo Epstein versus Brian Cashman
21:33back in the day in the mid-2000s.
21:35I mean, this has, like, hotel rooms and A-Rod written all over it.
21:40Man, Boston just made a fabulous trade.
21:42A fabulous trade.
21:44Great for Boston.
21:46Bad for my Yankees.
21:47I mean, it's awful.
21:49As a Yankee fan watching the Red Sox win, I mean, this was the worst Red Sox season in 40
21:56years.
21:57I mean, it was worthless.
21:59I mean, they were terrible.
22:00Sam Kennedy, Craig Breslow, Fire Corps, John Henry's giving up on baseball.
22:05Guys in this clubhouse deserve a lot of credit.
22:07They started that second half beating Tampa.
22:09They beat Baltimore.
22:10They beat Toronto.
22:10They beat Toronto, division teams.
22:12They take this series, sweeping away the Dodgers.
22:14They gave the organization a reason to go get a bat and a catcher like this.
22:20Phenomenal job by the Boston Red Sox.
22:23Breaks my Yankee heart.
22:27Let's take a break from the diamond and shine on football now.
22:30We're going camping on shine time.
22:32And we begin with Cam Scadaboo, who is backtracking on his backflipping.
22:37Yeah, I mean, obviously, I do some dumb things here and there, you know, but I learned from it.
22:43You know, my coach talked to me, told me how he felt, and I learned from it.
22:47And will I go do that backflip again?
22:49Probably not.
22:49So, I mean, we live and we learn, and, you know, we move on.
22:54This right here is the soundbites of the summer from any single football camp thus far.
23:01And if you're a fan of the New York football giants and you hear that, you should be absolutely jumping
23:07for joy.
23:08Look, we said it at the time.
23:10Scadaboo, coming off of an injury, doing a backflip at Fanatics Fest is the theater of the absurd.
23:19Amateur hour.
23:20This can't happen.
23:21When any stumbles, that's nightmare fuel.
23:25If you're the Giants, if you're a Giants fan, if you're John Harbaugh.
23:30And that soundbite tells you all you need to know.
23:33These are John Harbaugh's Giants.
23:35These are not Brian Dayball's Giants or Pat Shermer's Giants or Joe Judge's Giants.
23:40Finally, a real head coach coaching the New York football Giants.
23:45And when Harbaugh said at the time, talking to Carl Banks and Bob Papa on their incredible podcast, that, you
23:53know, it was something where he kind of sternly said, you know, I want him to stick to landing.
23:57We made a big deal about it at the time here on Shine Time.
24:00That was Harbaugh's way of saying, I will handle this internally.
24:05There's no way that John Harbaugh saw one of his injured players who's important to the success of this team.
24:13I mean, and if you're Scadaboo, you have to be absolutely out of your mind, understanding you're coming off an
24:20injury.
24:20You still have Tracy.
24:22You still have Singletary.
24:24You've got a coach who's all ball all the time.
24:27Harbaugh must have been flipping out watching Scadaboo flipping around at Fanatics Fest coming off of an injury as dumb
24:35as it gets.
24:36So, Scadaboo, by the way, I loved him in college, thought he was tough and he was aggressive, even though
24:43he got hurt last year.
24:45Right now, he is known for being Jackson Dart's best friend.
24:49He needs to really get on track for his NFL career.
24:54I mean, we're not talking about a signature running back in any way, shape, or form.
24:58We're talking about a complementary player who has the ability to do more, but he has to be smart.
25:05He has to be available.
25:07Jackson Darts, I think, is going to be a big key to this.
25:11Jackson Darts and his availability and Jackson Dart being coached by Harbaugh and Jackson Dart is Scadaboo's best friend.
25:18I want to see Darts in addition.
25:21You know, they can't just be bros together, Scadaboo and Darts.
25:26Dart needs to take on a leadership role here and follow along with Harbaugh and tell Cam Scadaboo, you need
25:32to get in line.
25:33This is not about, you know, social media.
25:37This is not about theatrics.
25:39It's about winning football games.
25:41So that soundbite was awesome with Scadaboo.
25:44And I'll tell you, everything that I'm seeing, everything I'm hearing on Malik Neighbors is off the charts.
25:52And I think it's kind of funny, right, the benefit of the late start for the NFL season this year.
25:58You know, every time I read Paul Schwartz in the New York Post, every time I see Paul do something
26:05here on the YouTube page for the New York Post with Brandon London,
26:10I get more energized by the minutes when it comes to Malik Neighbors being ready to be out there.
26:16Every soundbite from Joe Shane, every soundbite from Coach Harbaugh makes you think that Malik Neighbors is on track.
26:24And look, we've given you the schedule before here on Shine Time.
26:28I think the Giants are going to start the season 4-2.
26:32I think they can lose the first two games of the season and rattle off the next four.
26:36So Neighbors being healthy big picture is everything.
26:40Look, if he's not healthy for the Dallas game, they can't beat the Dallas Cowboys.
26:43Simple as that.
26:44If he is healthy, they're going to have a real shot.
26:46So there are so many great signs and examples here of this camp being all about John Harbaugh and his
26:55stamp and his imprint on the New York football giants
26:59and why this appointment and this hire was everything for Dart, for Scadaboo, for Neighbors, for Abdul Carter, for the
27:09young Giants, for Giants fans.
27:11We're raising the bar on everything.
27:13That's the genius of John Harbaugh.

28:02receiver, season-ending PCL surgery, that is, that's rough.
28:07And thankfully for San Francisco and for Brock Purdy and Kyle Shanahan, Debo Samuel was available, which I couldn't believe
28:15as a street-free agent.
28:17Debo should have never left in the first place.
28:19Debo, look, if you want to even say he's not the player that he was during his salad days in
28:25San Francisco, I think Debo Samuel is going to have an impactful season.
28:29Should have never left in the first place.
28:30They should have paid him instead of Brandon Ayuk, who was the first guess on my part.
28:34Debo running the football, catching it, he can play every different receiver position.
28:40He's such a fun guy, team leader, wants to win.
28:44He has an attitude and a swagger that I know everybody in San Francisco really loves and appreciates.
28:49And if you're Brock Purdy, this is such a win.
28:53Brock Purdy has loved Debo Samuel for a long time.
28:57And I just think that anything, especially with this brutal news about Pearsall, that helps out Brock Purdy, especially with
29:05Kyle Shanahan still not coaching the team after the car accident and the concussion, this is such a mental and
29:13physical win for Brock Purdy.
29:15Niners, it's a weird time to kind of figure them out, right?
29:19And I'm a big Brock Purdy fan, a big Debo Samuel fan.
29:23In theory, they're better on defense with Fred Warner and Nick Bosa being healthy.
29:28Christian McCaffrey is unbelievable.
29:30I thought the Mike Evans signing was as amazing an offseason move as any team had during the month of
29:37March.
29:37As perfect as it gets in that initial first wave of free agency.
29:41In theory, the window should be wide open for San Francisco.
29:47The Shanahan complications, to me, narrows the gap a little bit.
29:51The Pearsall injury, not what you want.
29:53But Debo Samuel is energizing for this fan base.
29:57And I wanted to see the Niners beat the Chiefs at one of these two Super Bowls that they played
30:03over the last six years.
30:05Because they were better than Kansas City both years, could have won if Jimmy G hit Emmanuel Sanders, should have
30:10won the game that went to overtime.
30:12Oh, so close, yet so far.
30:15I don't think this team is ultimately going to win it this year.
30:18I think they're the second or third best team in their own division.
30:21But Debo Samuel, on the heels of the brutal news about Ricky Pearsall, that's energizing.
30:27And Mike Evans, by all accounts, is turning heads.

30:47With the first pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select, Jadavian Clowney, defensive end, South Carolina.
30:58You don't find a young man that big, that fast, that strong every day.
31:02He's a once-every-15-year talent.
31:04He's the number one player.
31:06Houston has their work cut out for him, getting him in that 3-4, pairing him with J.J. Watt,
31:10and letting him go after Andrew Luck because that's a task.

31:16I mean, that's amazing.
31:17Fleshing back to that with Clowney drafted to go after Andrew Luck.
31:21Jadavian Clowney signed by the Houston Texans, who drafted him number one overall.
31:27Remember, that was the Reggie Bush draft, where everyone and their mother, including mine, thought Bush was going to go
31:32number one in that draft.
31:33But instead, he went number two to New Orleans.
31:36Clowney, look, didn't fully pan out first time around in Houston.
31:41But he's had a long career, constantly getting to the quarterback.
31:45Played last year with the Cowboys, had eight and a half sacks last year.
31:49And you think about the rich getting richer, I mean, my goodness, D'Amico Ryan's defense enters, to me, as
31:57the single best defense in the National Football League.
32:00D'Amico Ryan's is an absolute gem.
32:02I think this defense is going to be the best in the NFL.
32:05Obviously, you think about the pass rush, Will Anderson is unbelievable.
32:10You think about Daniel Hunter, unbelievable.
32:12You think about our guy Stingley on the back end.
32:15This defense is locked and loaded.
32:18I am absolutely obsessed.
32:20And I think the Houston Texans are going to be off the charts on defense.
32:24Now they just need C.J. Stroud to be able to throw the forward pass.
32:30So much excitement in Rams camp with rumors of Aaron Donald's potential return and Miles Garrett's in the house, making
32:37hits like this one in practice last week.
32:40But that was last week.
32:42Garrett has missed the past three practices and will miss today's practice as well.
32:49And it's a sore back, right?
32:52I can't stress this enough, how smart this is and why the Rams, we say this all the time, best
32:59organization in the National Football League.
33:01And this is another example.
33:03Miles Garrett, you don't rush it with a back injury.
33:08And injury's probably strong.
33:10Soreness is what they're calling it.
33:13Miles Garrett shouldn't see the practice field again until he feels like he's limber and there's no pain and there's
33:21no soreness.
33:22He doesn't have to break a sweat to break through the offensive line week one against San Francisco and sack
33:28Brock Purdy three times on opening night for the Rams and the Niners when they're playing overseas on the first
33:35Thursday of the NFL season.
33:37Miles Garrett could just take his time and chill out, wait for Aaron Donald to sign his contract.
33:43And remember, by the way, last year at this time, remember who had a back injury and wasn't practicing?

34:15How about Devontae Adams, who is in year 13 of the National Football League, and he's still doing ridiculously amazing

34:25It's absolutely incredible to watch.

34:29I mean, you want some fun football practice material to start get you going.
34:35If you're an NFL fan, if you start prepping for your fantasy draft, if you're a Rams fan thinking this
34:40is going to be the year, that's great stuff.
34:43And Devontae Adams, I don't care what year he's in in the National Football League, still one of the best
34:48receivers in the NFL.
34:49He's as great as it gets as number two receiver in the NFL, especially how he and Puka Nakua complement
34:55each other, watching Stafford throwing darts in the month of August.
35:00Thing of beauty if you're a fan of the L.A. Rams.
35:04The Chiefs camp, and I've been saying it for a couple weeks now, Chiefs are healthy, be wary.
35:09And Andy Reid has some positive feelings on the health of his most important player, Patrick Mahomes.
35:15Yeah, listen, he's doing a great job.
35:17He's really doing everything that he normally does and doing it well.
35:21So, we're happy with that.
35:23We know he's still progressing through it, but he sure looks sharp out here.

35:33I mean, it's always fun when you can find an example of Patrick Mahomes doing some weird and wild and
