00:09I've been in this location since 1954. I was working at the shoe store when I first knew
00:17anything about a picture. I didn't know nothing about a picture when I was working at the shoe store.
00:21And these two fellas, they got into business. One of the fellas
00:26was making pictures, I mean, making proofs. The idea was to take pictures on the street.
00:32As you walk down the street, they give you a card. You go in the next day and look at
00:36the proof,
00:36and if you like it, you buy it. So I was watching the guys making those proofs,
00:43and I watched them there for about a week or two, and then I decided I could do it too.
00:48So I made some. I didn't like them. I throw them in the trash, and about two or three days,
00:54I made some more. It looked good to me. So when he came in, he asked me who did it.
01:00I told him I did. He asked me, he said, well, who told you how? I said, I was just
01:05watching you.
01:07He said, if you're that good, I'm going to turn this process over to you,
01:11and I'm going to get out of the road and set up some more new places. So that's what happened.
01:20I love photography because it's so fascinating, and it's beautiful to work with.
01:26And without photography, it would be a great problem to people.
