00:00I
00:30Hello there, welcome to a sunny Alton Park here in Cheshire for highlights of round six of the British Superbike
00:36Championship.
00:37It's an earlier than usual return to Alton after an opening round that saw a triple victory for Kyle Ride.
00:44Kyle has barely looked back since then, he still dominates the championship.
00:47He's leading by 19 points from Scott Redding and after an epic battle between the two of them last time
00:52out at Brands Hatch,
00:53we were expecting more of the same here, but qualifying proved to be a different story,
00:58with Max Cook taking pole position for the first time on the Bermota with a new lap record around here
01:04at Alton Park.
01:05It was all set up for a cracker with Scott sixth on the grid and Kyle back in tenth.
01:10Your commentators, as usual, James Whitton alongside Steve Day.
01:14We've got an 18-lap race around Alton Park coming up. Perfect weather conditions here.
01:18It's eyes on the lights. We are underway, and it was a very good getaway from the pole sitter, Max
01:25Cook, on the Bermota.
01:26He will get the whole shot. Look at his teammate, Joe Talbot, goes up into second.
01:29It's the Bermota 1-2 into turn one ahead of Bradley Ray.
01:33Yeah, I don't think that team could smile anymore anyway, but they'll be having a try.
01:37We will keep that. Kyle Ride's attacking immediately down the hill into Cascades.
01:40He's up the inside of Ilya Mikkelchik.
01:42He's got Scott Redding right in front of him, his championship rival.
01:45Right, so Kyle Ride cannot walk about here.
01:47He's got to get in and about early on wildly together before anybody puts a run together and gets away.
01:52I spoke to his crew chief, Shannon Etheridge, earlier.
01:54He said they're just going to go for it.
01:55He's got nothing to lose, a point to prove as they head into Shell Oils for the first time.
02:00It's the two AJN Steelstock Bermoters that lead the field.
02:05Max Cook and Joe Talbot.
02:09Storm Stacey is there in third on the Batham's AJN Ducati.
02:14Yeah, three of the youngest on the grid, right out front.
02:17Immediately attacking there, Brad Ray thought about it.
02:19You just had a little bit of a look, didn't you?
02:21You saw the front dip and then spring back up.
02:23There's Haslam in fifth, ahead of Vickers, then Reading and Ride.
02:27So Ride has made up two places.
02:30Yeah, and you know, interestingly, Kyle Ride has got the bike to get past.
02:33Should he want to make a pass, he can put that bike in a position
02:36where he can do the job on the brakes.
02:39I don't think Brad Ray has.
02:40He would have to set something up if he needed to get through.
02:44He's right with him anyway, so.
02:45The problem, Mr Kyle, he's got another Ducati right in front of him,
02:47but he's challenging immediately.
02:51To Lodge Corner.
02:52We complete the first lap then, and it is a promoter 1-2.
02:55It's Cook from Talbot, from Stacey,
02:57as they roll past the start-finish line over Deerleep.
03:02When you're leading like Max Cook or second, like his teammate Joe Talbot,
03:0618 laps is a long, long way around Alton Park.
03:11But that belief is now there for Cook.
03:15Now he's going to be questioned.
03:16Brad Ray then on the McCams Yamaha goes up into second place.
03:20This is much stronger from Brad here this weekend at Alton Park.
03:24Seem to be going around in circles a bit of Brad's a few weeks ago.
03:27There's the pit boards.
03:28Yeah.
03:29You'd be lucky to catch one of those every time you go.
03:32If you need something distinctive on in terms of a colour or a design
03:35or you name something, they'll take you right.
03:37Yeah, you've not got a lot of time around Alton Park around here to actually see it
03:41because you're actually trying to turn the bike as well.
03:43Oh, big switch from the rear there on Joe Talbot's bike.
03:47And that has allowed two riders to go through, Stacey and Haslam.
03:51Yeah.
03:52Joe hasn't got to panic.
03:53He's got to, whoever's in front of him,
03:54you've got to stick with him and learn if he can.
03:56Yeah, he's just around.
03:57So much experience here.
03:59He's got now Vickers, Scott Redding and Kyle Ryde behind.
04:03This is the moment.
04:04The rider in third.
04:07Yeah, that's a big initial tap of the gas.
04:11So he's opened the throttle, asking the bike to go forward
04:14and he's gone sideways.
04:15Lap 5 of 18.
04:19And it's Kyle Ryde here lining up a move on Scott Redding just in the background.
04:23Yes, he is.
04:23And it was clean as well from the nitrous competitions to Catty Ryder.
04:27The championship leader then.
04:29Moves up ahead of his series rival, Scott Redding.
04:33Yeah, I guess for Kyle, that's first job done, really.
04:39As we've said so often in terms of Kyle's history,
04:43he will not do anything too silly.
04:45Stats tell you that.
04:46If you didn't tune in to qualifying earlier, this is the 76th race now.
04:51It's 75 for Kyle Ryde without a DNF.
04:53It's 50 for Scott Redding as Ryan Vickers now moves through on Joe Talbot and up into fifth place.
05:00Fastest rider on circuit, Brad Ray in second, a 33-1.
05:03Joe Talbot needs to just settle now, take a few deep breaths and think,
05:07right, I'll learn a little for a year, see if I can stay with Ryan.
05:11Talbot now has dropped to the back of this group behind Kyle Ryde and Scott Redding.
05:17Neither of whom look like they've got the pace really to run at the front of this one.
05:21I agree.
05:21Which is a real surprise.
05:24In the past, you would have said that Max Cook would throw the kitchen sink at this, win or bust,
05:29but he has actually got third in the championship to think about.
05:32Yes, he has.
05:33At the moment.
05:33He doesn't need to do, thanks to his recent run.
05:36Yeah.
05:41Haslam might just pick up one of the fastest laps of the race here in fourth.
05:45Over the line, start lap eight.
05:49And indeed, he was the faster rider of the leading four.
05:53Yes, he was.
05:57Three podiums here at the start of the year.
06:00There's the move from Brad Ray.
06:01I don't know what's happened there to Cook.
06:03Did he miss a gear?
06:04Has he lost momentum?
06:05Yeah, I think he maybe missed a downshift there.
06:07There's something gone.
06:08Because he's lost two positions and now Storm Stacey attacks and Storm leads.
06:12Cook is coming back as well.
06:14Storm leads here at Alton Park.
06:17Leon Haslam now has been invited to this group.
06:21I don't know if he got invited.
06:23He's definitely...
06:23Well, it's Leon, isn't it?
06:25He's waiting.
06:27He's always there.
06:29He started this race from the second row.
06:33He's got a great record here at Alton Park as well.
06:37This is what happened to Max then.
06:38It was on the exit of Old Hall Corner.
06:40Something there, wasn't there?
06:41Yeah.
06:41You see his head just topple.
06:44Can't afford to panic though.
06:47Kyle Ride, the quickest of the top ten.
06:50The rider in fifth place.
06:52Needs to be kept an eye on.
06:55Into Cascades on lap nine of 18.
06:58We're not even halfway through this one yet.
07:01Any one of these four right front could win.
07:03Any one of the five maybe.
07:04Look at that, Max Coke.
07:09Max Coke looked at running it on the outside of Ireland and then going up the inside of the Shell
07:14Oils didn't work.
07:18The gap back to car ride, 1.6 seconds.
07:21Scott Redding has now got through on Vickers and has joined him.
07:25So this fight between four might become six.
07:28Yeah, championship-wise, I think whatever happens now, if he stays on, Kyle is going to be pleased with this.
07:34I'm sure he's not giving up yet on catching this group.
07:38Brad Ray as well.
07:39I mean, consider what he's up against here.
07:41The Ducati's and the Bermota, which we've been saying all year long, how strong they are.
07:46They are the bikes to be on at the moment.
07:47You have to take your hat off to what Brad is doing on that McCams Yamaha.
07:51Yeah, and sometimes in a championship like this, it happens.
07:54You're not going to end up sat on the most competitive bike every single year.
07:58And he's not, I don't think, this year.
08:00And he's riding it really well.
08:01The team's working really well to get the best out of it.
08:03Here comes Leon Aslam.
08:05Yeah, Brad felt that one coming as well.
08:08The motor-rapido Ducati rider Leon Aslam now up into second place.
08:12Remember, there's only two points splitting Haslam and Ray in the fight for third in the championship.
08:17And again, behind them, setting their fastest laps of the race, Kyle Ride in fifth and Scott Redding in sixth.
08:24They're coming.
08:25Haslam's got real pace here.
08:30Look at that mid-corner speed from Leon Aslam compared to Storm Stacey.
08:35He's been robbed of victory a few times over the last couple of years here, as Haslam did win the
08:41race at the start of last year.
08:44Left the opening round of the championship at Alton as the joint championship leader.
08:50But there's work to do here.
08:52And I think at this stage of the race, James, whilst you're right, Kyle would probably take this as damage
08:57limitation in the championship.
08:59And he's ahead of Kyle and Scott Redding, more importantly.
09:01Yeah.
09:02But at this stage, he might be looking at this thinking, actually, I could win this.
09:05Yeah, eight laps left.
09:08Down into his, he's now very much part of this group.
09:13And Scott Redding.
09:14And when there's, you know, when there's four riders together in front of you, there's always a chance they're going
09:18to run each other wide or somebody, there's always a chance you're going to get gifted something.
09:23So far, Kyle Ryder's boxed clever from 10th on the grid.
09:27There could be an opportunity here.
09:29Max Cook may be eyeing off a move.
09:31They're all trying to find a way through.
09:33Out of Druids on the approach down to Lodge Corner.
09:35Lovely shot, that rear shot.
09:36Whoa.
09:37There's contact there.
09:38And Cook now trying to fish his way through.
09:40He goes up to third.
09:42Ahead of Bradley Ray.
09:48Brad's going to try and retaliate into turn one.
09:51Yes, he is.
09:52That's late.
09:53But it's just about five.
09:55Look at Kyle Ryder.
09:56He's ready to pounce and does.
09:58He does do.
09:59Yeah, if you watch that, Max Cook lost the rear just going in.
10:03And he just had to sit up a little bit.
10:07Scott Redding is now with them as well.
10:12Oh, big movement there from the McCashy-Yamahara Bradley Ray.
10:17That just pushes him very slightly wide, but he's fine.
10:20Still Storm Stacey that leads this.
10:22From Leon Hasler, Brad Ray and Kyle Ryder.
10:24But it is very tough to call.
10:35Storm Stacey leading this well.
10:37Not panicking.
10:37Just setting fairly constant laps.
10:40Let's see if Kyle Ryder can do something on the little bit of straight between Druids and Lodge.
10:47He's not going to defend, isn't Brad Ray.
10:50No.
10:52Brad then.
10:53Yeah.
10:53Somehow managed to get through ahead of Leon Haslam as well.
10:56Plus, I'm going to be mistakenly on coming out of Druids there.
10:58Look how close they are over the line there.
11:00Yeah, pick a board.
11:02Any board.
11:02Ryan Vickers again has taken a good chunk out of these guys.
11:06So, Brad Ray now leads on the McCashy-Yamaha.
11:13How he's doing this.
11:14Good effort, this.
11:15It's remarkable.
11:16He hasn't got the tool that the guys around him are using at the moment.
11:21I'm not saying there's a lot wrong with the Yamaha.
11:23No, there isn't.
11:23I'm just going to say, we're doing it down.
11:25It's been the benchmark PSP bike for a few years now.
11:29It's never been the quickest as Lynn Haslam now goes underneath Storm Stacey at Shellos.
11:34But the Yamaha is still a decent package.
11:36It just doesn't have the acceleration out of the corners.
11:39And we know why.
11:40That said, where's the next best Yamaha?
11:42I mean, I know Rory's out at the moment.
11:44Got it.
11:46Lap 12 of 18.
11:48Hard to know which way this is going to go.
11:51But it's Bradley Ray that leads.
11:53From Leon Haslam and Storm Stacey.
11:54Car ride sitting there.
11:56The championship leader in fourth.
11:57Having come through from 10th on the grid.
11:58Then Max Cook, who started from pole.
12:00Vickers is closing in the background in 7th place on his Honda.
12:04Again, a round of applause to Ryan.
12:07Yes.
12:10Biting in the screen and then some.
12:12Yeah, that's all right for one lap.
12:14But doing it for 18.
12:15Around here as well.
12:16Yeah, yeah.
12:18Really physical.
12:21Car ride now attacks Storm Stacey.
12:24Storm has a little cheeky look over as well.
12:27The door was open.
12:28Yeah, clear to make the move.
12:29How you'd expect.
12:31And now Kyle's up into a podium position.
12:34And he's not finished, is he?
12:35This might make Scott Redding feel a bit uncomfortable now.
12:38In 6th place.
12:39He's got to make some moves here.
12:40He won't want to lose more ground.
12:48Dropping down into Cascades.
12:52It is Bradley Ray that leads two tenths of a second up on Leon Haslam.
12:56With Kyle Ride third.
12:58Stay seat hot on his tail.
13:00Cook as well.
13:01Oh, just a bit wide there from Max into Island Bend.
13:10Kyle Ride will be more than happy with his performance so far in this one.
13:14Having gone up into third place, but there's still work to do.
13:19If Brad Ray wins this, fending off the Ducatis and the Bermotas, it will be a brilliant ride.
13:26He had one of the rides of his career here at the end of last year from 14th on the
13:30grid.
13:30Yeah, he did.
13:31One of the best BSB racers I've ever seen in terms of the way he did.
13:35This might feel just as good.
13:36Yes.
13:38We're about to start lap 14 of 18 in the first race of the weekend here at Alton.
13:42We got what we wanted.
13:43It's a big group fighting for victory.
13:47Stretching now, Lil' P is Brad.
13:4933.4 from Brad.
13:51Not many could follow that.
13:53There's a few dropping into the 134s now, including Ryan Vickers and Joe Talbot.
13:58Further back.
14:01Max Cupp will be desperate to get in front of Storm Stace.
14:04A little bit of needle.
14:05They're not real needle, but they see themselves as the up-and-coming youngster of this grid.
14:13There's the move from Leon Haslam.
14:15He's wide, though, but he's on the wrong side.
14:18He's Brad, but he's managed to pull that off.
14:19That's great from Bradley.
14:23It's just given Kyle maybe a bike length to draw himself a bit closer now to that top three as
14:30well.
14:30This is the part of the circuit where Kyle, pre-crash, was strongest.
14:34Yeah, he felt he could get through the right-hander at Britton's really well,
14:37get the power down, then flick round the left and get over Hilltop quicker than anybody else.
14:42And that's where he did crash.
14:44And he got a couple of slides as well, we saw, that held him up there.
14:48Passes lap of the race, of course, Bradley Rays, 1,000th of a second up on Storm Stacey.
14:52That would be your grid for tomorrow morning's sprint race.
14:55Right, still starting off the second row there.
14:58All weekend, Scott Redding has just been on the back foot.
15:00And you feel like he's really pushing just to stay with this group in sixth.
15:06He needs the front few to engage to have a chance in this one.
15:12Who's got what left as we start lap 15?
15:15This is where riders would start to encounter a few tyre issues.
15:20Yeah, four laps left now.
15:21And it's difficult to see if Brad or Leon don't make mistakes,
15:27where it's going to be possible for Karl Wright to get past.
15:32Max Cook just looks like he's struggling to hold a line there as he throws it into Old Walk.
15:36Yeah, do you know what I think?
15:37I think tyre wear is going to be an issue for him here.
15:41A little bit of movement from the bike.
15:43And that's a bike that's advantage, that excels mid-corner.
15:50And for that, you do need a little bit of grip.
15:52Top of the cheeks there from Ron Haslam as he saw Leon potentially make a move into Ireland bend there.
15:58He's in second place at the moment, looking for his first win of the season.
16:02Yeah, I don't know why we're amazed that Leon Haslam, his early 40s, still going this well,
16:07when his dad, getting up for 70s, still be doing it, if the Leathers would pass Scrutiniere.
16:13Which they will definitely know.
16:15Down into his ease.
16:20Still Ray from Haslam, from Wright.
16:22Storm Stacey there in fourth.
16:24He's actually looking very comfortable and doesn't look like he's running into any tyre issues.
16:29But for Cook in fifth and Reading in sixth, are they just hanging on?
16:35Now, Kyle Wright looking for some drive.
16:40Leon Haslam likewise.
16:41He's not close enough to attack, is he?
16:43No, he's not.
16:44No.
16:45That in turn meant that Kyle couldn't attack either.
16:48Now, Kyle will look to get some good drive here out of the final turn.
16:52And is this going to be an opportunity for the champion to go through on Haslam into Oldhall Corner?
16:57He's thinking about it.
16:58He's making his move.
17:00That's tight now.
17:01And Leon Haslam not giving it to him at all.
17:03Yeah, he's costly on time coming out, though.
17:06They're all side-by-side.
17:08Well, that's why Storm is there, because that's definitely holding each other up for Wright and Haslam.
17:14Leon Haslam really toughed that one out.
17:16And now Storm Stacey's got that inside line on Kyle Wright.
17:20Yeah, when the rider you next to him doesn't know you're there.
17:25Bit of a twitch from the rear end as well, because these guys now are running out of grip.
17:30Lap 16 of 18.
17:33Bradley Ray, it is, that leads this one from Leon Haslam.
17:36And Kyle Wright with Storm Stacey.
17:38Hearts on their tail.
17:40Yeah.
17:40Where's Max Cook gone?
17:41Max Cook's gone.
17:42Yeah, he has.
17:43Max Cook has gone.
17:44He's not part of this group.
17:46He's gone down at Cascades.
17:47Oh.
17:49Right.
17:50Meanwhile, here at the front, hopefully Max is OK.
17:55Currently being assessed.
17:57Meanwhile, Kyle Wright looking for a move through on Leon Haslam.
18:01Oh, dearie me.
18:03We might just see a red here.
18:04Yep.
18:05We might just see a red.
18:06It's a result.
18:09Into Druid.
18:10I think we've got to.
18:12And on the approach, I just wonder here, when they cross the line, whether we might see that.
18:16They'll be having to make a pretty quick decision.
18:19Yeah, they will.
18:19Upstairs.
18:20Kyle Wright has made his move.
18:22He goes through on Leon Haslam.
18:25He's up into second place.
18:26That might be timely.
18:27Over the line we go for Brad Wright.
18:30With Ride now in second.
18:32Haslam in third.
18:33That's great to see that he's up.
18:35Brilliant.
18:36But the bike looked a bit of a mess as well.
18:39Yeah, as long as they've got it shifted, it doesn't really matter to these boys.
19:10So down the hill we go.
19:11USA is best ever dry race performance.
19:13Yes.
19:14Yeah, it is for me.
19:15In BSB.
19:16Yeah, his win came in pouring rain at Snetterton.
19:20But he rode for it.
19:22Yeah.
19:22Scott Redding's not out of this.
19:23He was in the 33s.
19:24The only other rider in the 33s on that last lap was your race leader, Bradley Ray.
19:28Yeah, he's kind of out of it in terms of a win.
19:30Because nobody's going to catch Brad now.
19:32No, but he doesn't want Kyle to inflict too much pain points-wise.
19:35No.
19:36Every place is going to make a difference to him.
19:40So through to Druid's we go once more.
19:43What a ride this has been for Bradley Ray.
19:46There would be some higher motions for the McCams team if he pulls this off.
19:50Not just from what they've been through at Brandt's hatch, but I know Steve Rogers is currently at home.
19:55He's been a bit unwell.
19:56Yeah.
19:56So we send our best wishes to Steve.
19:58A gentleman in the paddock, Steve.
20:01Over the line to start the final lap.
20:03Bradley Ray has a second in his back pocket.
20:06Yeah.
20:06He's just got to be clean now, hit his marks, not making any mistakes, and he's got this.
20:11Kyle ride, as we've said and seen so many times before, a champion's ride.
20:16And he'd not do anything silly now.
20:18From 10th on the grid, he would have taken this.
20:22Yes, he would.
20:23Scott Redding will have a look at Storm Stacey.
20:28But that's all he's going to be able to do.
20:31He's not close enough there.
20:32He's very wide into Ireland.
20:38At no point, unfortunately, as the Hager PBM rider really challenged for the top three.
20:44There'll be a lot of work done overnight.
20:45We should say, though, Scott tends to get stronger as the weekend goes on.
20:48Yeah, he does.
20:49Never stops working.
20:50And he's going to need to because he's losing ground in the championship here to Kyle Ride in second.
20:58This is the crash from Max Cook.
21:00We're looking at the Cook crash, I think.
21:02This is the camera from Ireland Benz.
21:03You'd have to look in the background.
21:04Oh, he's lost it on the brakes going down the hill.
21:06That's a really fast crash, that.
21:08You know, it did look like he was losing front grip, didn't it?
21:10Yeah.
21:11And that's the problem when your bike turns that well and you've got a rider who does that also.
21:15You're going to use front tyre as well as rear.
21:17Some outstanding rides here.
21:19Bradley Ray on the Yamaha.
21:21Kyle Ride from 10th on the grid.
21:23Who's going to get third as well?
21:25Storm Stacey, that's...
21:26Well, and Leon.
21:28Checkered flag is out.
21:29Defensive from Haslam.
21:31That might just give Storm Stacey a chance.
21:33Run to the line.
21:33A proper run to the line for third.
21:35But your race winner is Bradley Ray on the McCams Yamaha.
21:39What a performance from Ray.
21:43Fighting the Ducatis and the Bimotas.
21:47And beating them here at Alton Park.
21:50Kyle Ride, excellent.
21:52From 10th on the grid through to 2nd.
21:54And Leon Haslam is back on the podium for the first time since round one.
21:57He just got it ahead of Storm Stacey by 9 hundredths of a second.
22:02It is a win here at Alton for Bradley Ray on the McCams Yamaha.
22:06Fending off the competition from Ducati and Bimotas.
22:10Leon Haslam is third.
22:11Stacey fourth.
22:12Great ride from Storm.
22:13Ahead of Scott, Ryan Vickers and Joe Talbot, the rookie.
22:16On the Bimotas, finishing seventh.
22:18Our best to Max Cook.
22:19Hopefully he's alright.
22:20But Halloween in eight.
22:21The best result of the season for him.
22:23Ben Hiddon and Glenn Irwin.
22:24In the championship 24 then.
22:27It climbs two now in favour of Kyle over Scott.
22:29Brad Ray with that win.
22:30He's 83 down.
22:32Leon Haslam fourth.
22:33No points of course there for Max Cook who crashed at Cascades.
22:37Storm Stacey back into the top ten overall.
22:42Tremendous race here at Alton Park.
22:44Great performances all round.
22:46Brad is back.
22:47Kyle extends his lead at the top of the championship.
22:49And the good news for Max Cook is that he walked away from the medical centre after that huge off.
22:54We'll see them all back in action for race two and three on Sunday.
22:58Bye for now.
23:03We've seen a Premier League performance today from former champion Brad Ray who loves it here at Alton Park.
23:10And Brad that was arguably as good as your ride here last year in 2025 when you came through the
23:15pack.
23:15You had to do a bit of everything in that one to make it stick.
23:17Yeah it was one of them races.
23:19I mean to be fair to Max he set a real good pace at the start and I was happy
23:22to sort of stay behind.
23:25Got through on Joe quite quickly and then sat behind Max and he was setting a good pace.
23:30Went a little bit wide and I thought right it's my time to get to the front.
23:33Get into a rhythm.
23:34But then Storm then got through on both of us.
23:37Seemed to back the pace up quite a bit by at least half a second, three quarters of a second.
23:43Which then brought the rest of the group up.
23:45So I had on my board G5 and I thought right my time to go now.
23:50I need to get to the front.
23:51So I passed Leon where I did and then got Storm into turn one and just got my head down.
23:57This is your pass in the passenger toll.
23:59But as you mentioned there Brad first of all.
24:02And Max, by the way we just heard that Max is okay.
24:05He just left the medical centre after that big off.
24:08That's the main thing.
24:08Coming through on Storm here.
24:10You had to do it in different corners.
24:11There were different kinds of passes as well Brad.
24:13Yeah that was it.
24:14I mean Leon got really wise to me last year.
24:16Passed into Nick and Brook before the hilltop.
24:20So I had to try and surprise people in different areas and make it stick.
24:24But yeah that's probably one of the best wins and one of the hardest wins I've had.
24:29Were you expecting when you make those passes on a Dakar, were you expecting them to come
24:33back at you straight away?
24:34Were that?
24:34Yes definitely.
24:35I mean when you're passing to turn one I was good down Cascades but then that back straight
24:39into Ireland.
24:40They were super strong there.
24:41So when they didn't get back past me I needed to do a good sector two and three and then
24:46just get into my rhythm.
24:48I know I can do it.
24:49Yeah once you got half a second we thought well that's just enough so he can think about
24:53his own lines not everybody else.
24:54Exactly that because you know what it's like when you have someone behind you you'll automatically
24:58go defensive and then you lose two or three tenths a lap and don't ride out you want to.
25:03So I was able to do my lines.
25:06Saw my pit board at plus 0.9 with two laps to go so I'd just done everything I could
25:11put
25:11everything into it.
25:12Yeah that's the one for the boys.
25:14I also saw you like you're like you say coming out Cascades to Ireland you're just kind of
25:18going over making it difficult forcing them to the outside which just gave you.
25:22Yeah that was where they last time they kept passing you there didn't they?
25:25Yeah that's it yeah.
25:27So is that like a conscious thing right I've got to force them to the outside that's one
25:31of my weakest spots?
25:32A little bit yeah.
25:33I tried a few different things in the race.
25:35I could you can sort of hear the Ducati behind you because it revs so much and it's so loud
25:40so I could sort of weirdly hear where they were on track so I just tried to make myself
25:44as wide as possible in all the areas.
25:47That was a great ride.
25:48Best place to hear them from isn't it just behind you?
25:50Better than in front yeah.
25:52All right well good luck doing it again tomorrow.
25:54Well thank you.
25:55We'll see you then.
25:56Let's get the thoughts of the impressive rookie Joe Talbot.
25:59Another strong ride from him he's talking to Shane.
26:02Joe Talbot I can't help but come down to have another chat with you.
26:07P7 in the end of that super bike race there 18 laps which is a physical track round here
26:11Autumn Park but you ran second position for the good well five or six laps at the beginning
26:15of the race how was that?
26:17Yeah it's a brilliant experience an amazing start got behind my teammate and I felt like
26:22the type of motor boys out the front it felt good.
26:25It was also I had the pace you got new tyres and whatnot and you're fresh it's the start
26:30of the race but I was behind the same motorbike and it felt good.
26:34It felt really good just to follow.
26:35It was in a bit of a flow and it felt easy but obviously then I could hear like an
26:39R1 behind
26:40me a big Ducati behind me and then I had a big moment coming out of Cascades and I lost
26:45all my momentum and then in this game with these level of riders as soon as there was
26:50one little mistake they all come in so it was good and then everyone just took advantage
26:56of my little mistake but that's what you're going to get at the front but to run second
27:00for a couple of laps and feel quite comfortable doing it it was a mega experience.
27:05Did it help that your teammate Max Cook obviously he sort of stole the headlines if you
27:09like a little bit with this AJ and still stocked with motor obviously he's the experienced
27:12rider he's ridden that engine hasn't ridden this chassis but he's been the one everyone's
27:16talking about.
27:17Was it interesting for you following him in the beginning of that race and are you doing
27:20anything different to your teammate at the moment?
27:23Yeah for sure I feel like Max's natural style really suits the bike so he's also but he is
27:30also riding the bike in the more correct manner than me.
27:33I'm a bit too eager on the brakes and things like this and a bit too snappy let's say where
27:38Max is a little bit smoother than me at the minute he understands the tight is a little
27:42bit better and Max is just doing an amazing job he had a little crash then but I think
27:47he's okay and I'm sure the boys will get their bike built for him tomorrow so he can run
27:52at the front again.
27:53Well we look forward to seeing you back up the front tomorrow best of luck for that Joe.
27:57Thank you very much cheers.
27:59Well if he keeps learning at the rate that he is at the moment he will be at the front
28:03Danny
28:03and he'll be running with Max you know much more regularly than that.
28:07Yeah and you know when you're in that position for your first time you know you're behind
28:10your teammate you're one and two you almost have a little bit of you know you don't believe
28:15it's quite happening and you have to really just try and focus in and you saw it you know
28:18he made that slight little mistake and you you know listen it's like they're like a pack
28:22of lions they they know they you know they see it you're just going to take advantage
28:26of that and I think he did a good job not to crash and try and push too hard he
28:29just
28:30worked out here and just took what he could from the race and I think that's something
28:33that a lot of people you know will probably say it's a good thing that he's doing because
28:37he's not smashing himself up trying too hard he's sat back he's finished where he's finished
28:40and he's took a lot of experience from that and I think it's a really good thing to do.
28:44Great learning curve for him and to run at the front properly at the Fed with a bit like
28:48Storm talking to him about it there it's just that next kind of tick in the box.
28:52Yeah I mean was he going to ever finish on the podium I don't think so not with the amount
28:56of people and the people is the speed of the people he's outweighed however he learned
29:00when he gets that's what he's got to do when he gets passed he's just got to learn from
29:03everybody one little tiny mistake that's all he made and Danny's dead right what he needs
29:08to do is finish finish where he can that was a brilliant seventh only eight seconds off
29:12the win that's not too much and a big gap behind him to the next group so he's been some
29:16people
29:17have been in this class and won races many times so for me he's doing all he needs to do
29:21he's learning and he's got time and this is perfect for him. Yeah very much yeah because
29:27he's figuring it out and it takes some figured out when you get on a superbike he's got a great
29:31bike underneath him great team around him he's got a fast teammate but also as you say it'd have
29:36been easy then to have overstepped the mark in the race and the heat in the race but when he
29:40actually started to sort of drop off a bit he just allowed that you know he knew he couldn't quite
29:46stay with them and that showed a bit of maturity there that you don't often see with rookies
29:50sort of coming in so i think he's doing a great job so far i think he's he's in the
29:54right sort of
29:54setup and i yeah he's just got to keep building let's have a look at max cook's crash then uh
30:00down it was uh it was a big one yeah i think he's just come into the cascades he's gone
30:04to the bottom
30:05of the hill he's just you know he's just tucked the front and i think the bike tumbled i think
30:09the
30:09bike caught unfortunately the wrong place and um those were always sort of crashes uh that i seem to have
30:15i'd always get up relatively okay but the bike would still be going through the air and um
30:19yeah glad to see he's up and okay and hopefully tomorrow he'll uh he'll be fine i i just wonder
30:23whether the way that bike works and the way he rides it whether he took a little bit more than
30:28most out that front tire because that is a turning in still a bit of brake on boom it's gone
30:33really
30:34early in the corner i just wonder whether that's a front tire thing also you actually seen a couple
30:38of corners before that it just the bike was just moving a little bit more and it's one of the
30:44real
30:44things you've got to get your head around super bike is when the tires go off it's just a fractionally
30:48different style of doing it getting you stood up a bit more so you're like a safer part of the
30:52tire
30:52and it's sort of so i think there's you know a little bit of that he's going to learn he's
30:57not a
30:57big crasher but that is also it's unusual to go there that's far earlier yeah that's hard and that
31:04bike was smashed yeah um we'll uh we'll find out on max con max's condition now actually uh we can
31:11hear
31:11from his team boss nigel snook who's with shen well we'll pop down to see nigel snook nigel team
31:16owner fs3 aj and still stop racing um it's been a fantastic weekend so far pole position for max
31:22with the fastest ever lap around orton pass circuit which you must be very very proud of
31:27your young man in the background i'm going to interview in a minute joe tolbert done a great job
31:30there as well qualifying fifth um as we can see over in the corner there though uh max had a
31:35bit of
31:35a tip-off at cascades obviously motorbikes can be fixed how's your rider well i've been up to the
31:40medical center to see him he sat there surrounded with the excellent staff keeping an eye on him
31:45um everything's working everything's moving he's got a sore shoulder um looking at his helmet it's
31:53probably a good idea he had it on um they're just looking in his eyes and waving things around to
31:58concussion test him they said he didn't go out cold but he's obviously had a tumble dryer session so
32:05we'll see how he is he's got all night to to get well for tomorrow and by then the bike
32:11will be
32:11ready for him how was um how was his description did he tell you what happened what he thought
32:16happened in the accident we haven't done the forensics yet but from what we can piece together
32:22is he's tipped in hard into cascades trying to get a tight line attacking storm and he's pushed the front
32:29a bit and you know one lap to go tires getting hot and he's lost the front going into cascades
32:35which
32:35isn't ideal and the rest as they say was in the air as we saw on the video well nigel
32:41i know you run a
32:42great ship and i'm sure that bike will be ship shape in the morning we wish max the best of
32:46luck and
32:46again to you guys for tomorrow thanks shane i'll pass that on cheers yeah fingers crossed max can be
32:52back tomorrow and continue his great work here at alton park two races uh still to come from bsb on
32:59what
32:59will be a super sunday here at round six of the british superbacks one more piece of action to
33:04bring you after the break that will show you what happened a little bit earlier on in the sport
