00:23They were charged with trafficking the 25-year-old Cameroonian woman for forced labour at a premises in Jalan Utara
00:31Berapit Central Zerberang Prai at 7pm on July 16th.
00:37The charge, framed under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, carries
00:45a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.
00:50Earlier, the prosecution objected to bail, arguing that the accused had entered Malaysia without valid passports or travel documents.
00:58The court granted the prosecution three weeks to verify the accused's travel documents and set September 1st for mention.
01:06The case stems from police raids carried out in central Zerberang Prai and the North East District on July 16th,
01:14which led to the dismantling of a human exploitation and job scam syndicate.
01:19During the operation, police rescued the Cameroonian woman, who is believed to have been exploited.
01:25Authorities also arrested 29 foreigners, 20 men and 9 women, for allegedly failing to produce valid travel documents.
