He's basically discovering childhood for the first time! After years trapped on a bile farm, Berserk is finally getting to experience what being a bear is supposed to look like. Dodo editor Monica shares how Animals Asia helped him discover play, sunshine and a second chance.

While bear bile extraction is now banned in Vietnam, 150 bears are still waiting to be freed from tiny metal cages. Animals Asia is working to rescue every last one, but they need your help.

00:00I'm pretty sure this bear wakes up every single day thinking it's the best day of his life.
00:05I could not get over this hilarious big bear, Bursik, who just wants to play,
00:10but behind all of this personality, he had a pretty tough story.
00:15Bursik had spent seven years trapped in a tiny cage where he was used in the bear bile industry.
00:22He lived in these horrid conditions until Animals Asia rescued him in 2022.
00:28We've partnered with Animals Asia for more than 10 years sharing their rescue stories.
00:33One thing that's always fascinated me is hearing how long it can take rescue bears to adjust to their new
00:38lives.
00:39When he arrived to the sanctuary, he was nervous, but it didn't take long for him to start showing his
00:45true personality.
00:49You'd think it'd take him longer to settle in considering what he's been through,
00:52but after weeks, Bursik was having the time of his life.
00:57Rescuers say that Bursik was curious about everything, feeling the grass beneath his feet,
01:02making lots of friends, and of course, always playing.
01:09Animals Asia says that Bursik is the bear everyone wants to hang out with.
01:13And even though bio-farming is now illegal, there are over 150 bears still in captivity.
01:20Animals Asia is on a mission to rescue every last one,
01:22and it just goes to show that it's never too late to give a rescue animal a second chance.
01:27The joy on their faces is everything.
