00:13Prometheus, the Titan creator of mankind, the one who thinks ahead, the fire bringer,
00:19the ancient trickster, he who brought forth knowledge and civilization.
00:24He was the son of the Titan, Iapetus, and the Oceanid, Clemenae, and the brother of Epimetheus,
00:30Menetius, and Atlas.
00:33During the war between the Olympians and the Titans, Prometheus, and his brother, Epimetheus,
00:39sided with the Olympians, thus, escaping the wrath of Zeus, after the defeat of the Titans.
00:46Prometheus then molded the very first mortal men, out of earth and water, and took great
00:51pride in them.
00:53Long after the Titanomachy had passed, after the Olympians had gained control of the universe,
00:59after Zeus had become the all-powerful king of the gods, Prometheus began to see, that
01:04the Olympians were not so different, from the old Titan gods, they were even more tyrannical.
01:10He saw their ill-treatment, and injustice, towards mankind.
01:14The cruel fate, and undeserved punishments, man endured.
01:19Prometheus had regard for mankind, and felt they deserved better.
01:24One fateful day, at Necom, Zeus put Prometheus, in charge of sharing the meat of a great ox,
01:31into two meals.
01:32One for the gods, and the other for the humans.
01:35The bigger and better share for the gods, and the lesser for the humans.
01:38The crafty Prometheus, wrapped the ox's bones, inside nice looking fat, something useless
01:45with a pleasant covering, and set it as the first share.
01:49Then, he hid all the finest meat, inside the ox's stomach, something pleasant, with an ugly
01:55covering, and set it as the second share.
01:59Zeus fell for the trick.
02:01Indeed, the portion of fat covered bones, was pleasing to the eye.
02:05So he chose it, as the meal for the gods.
02:08This set a new order, which allowed humans, thenceforth, to keep the best meat for themselves,
02:14and burn the bones, wrapped in fat, as sacrifice to the gods, and no longer the other way round.
02:21When Zeus realized Prometheus' trick, the angry god punished mankind, by hiding fire, away
02:27from them.
02:28At that time, the use of fire was already known to humans.
02:33Now, Zeus had withdrawn it from them, and hidden it, in the deepest parts of Olympus.
02:38But Prometheus found where he hid it, on Olympus, stole the fire, and brought it back to earth,
02:45to humans, in a fennel stark.
02:47When Zeus learned of this, he visited the god of the forge, Hephaestus, and instructed
02:53him, to sculpt a creature, more beautiful, and more devious, than anything any man had
02:58ever seen.
03:00Hephaestus molded the creature out of clay, and called it woman, the very first woman to
03:05exist.
03:06Each of the gods, gave the woman a distinct gift.
03:09And Zeus gifted the woman, with a beautifully decorated box.
03:13In that box, Zeus placed all kinds of evil, and sicknesses, that he planned to plague mankind
03:20with, as punishment for Prometheus crimes.
03:23Hermes, then named her Pandora, and carried her down to earth.
03:29Prometheus, the forethinking titan, warned his after thinking brother, Epimetheus, against
03:34accepting any gifts from the gods.
03:36But his advice fell on deaf ears, when Epimetheus saw the beautifully endowed Pandora, and took
03:43her as his wife.
03:45No sooner had this happened.
03:47Pandora, opened the box she came along with, out of curiosity.
03:51Thus, unleashing all sorts of evil, diseases, and pains, that still plague mankind till today.
03:58Only hope, was left in the box, as she shut the lid, before it could escape.
04:04As for Prometheus, Zeus bound the titan to a rock, in Caucasus, for eternity, and sent
04:11an eagle, his emblem, to feast on the titan's liver, daily.
04:15Every day, the eagle devoured Prometheus' liver, which grew back by night, due to his immortality.
04:22Prometheus endured this excruciating torture, for a very long time, until the day, the
04:28demigod, Heracles, killed the eagle, and freed him from his eternal torment.
04:33After Zeus and Prometheus made peace, Prometheus had a son, named Deucalion, who would later
04:40survive the great flood, sent by Zeus, to wipe out humanity, and go on ahead, to repopulate
04:46the earth, with his own consort, Pirha.
