00:00And we'll start with the Texas pressure. And Billy wrote an article headlined, should Texas national title or bus talk
00:09be directed more at Arch Manning or Steve Sarkeesian? And Archie Manning, his grandfather, came out and said, you know,
00:16Arch didn't ask for any of this and kind of said he was anointed beforehand.
00:19So it was a little bit together, like people have heaped on a lot of praise and a lot of
00:25expectations, which he doesn't really deserve, didn't deserve the praise, but also maybe didn't deserve the expectations quite to that
00:31degree without having really played a lot prior to last season.
00:35Now he was supposed to be a one and done, you know, one start year and go. This is his
00:40second year, his fourth year now in college.
00:42You know, Sarke has coached at USC. He's coached at Texas. He coached under Nick Saban.
00:47You know, hasn't necessarily had that big game success in the postseason.
00:53And so when we start talking about where the pressure should be, who should it be on more of?
00:58Should it be on Sarke? Should it be on Arch?
01:03I would contend that more of this pressure this year is on Arch Manning.
01:09Lift it or leave it, Bill Bender.
01:11I'm going to leave it for rare. Leave it, Bob, where I'm going to say it's on Sark.
01:16And here's why I think Arch will have all that pressure.
01:19I'm not disputing what you're saying.
01:21I think his the the pressure on him is really going to ramp up when he gets to the NFL
01:26because of his uncles.
01:27And again, not his fault, but it's a natural.
01:30Hey, Peyton did this his rookie season. Eli did this his rookie season.
01:34And it'll just go from there.
01:36I actually think Texas has a Cadillac roster with a bunch of transfers like Cam Coleman and Hollywood Smothers and
01:43Relique Brown.
01:44And there are all Rasheem Biles on the defensive side.
01:48Their roster, we're putting out our preseason All-American team next week.
01:51There are a lot of Texas guys on it.
01:53And that's a spoiler alert. So that tells me that, like, if Sark can't get this team on at least
01:59a deep playoff run and he's sitting here next year saying, well, we were nine and three and should have
02:04got in because we played Ohio State.
02:05And it's the same thing. If they lose to Ohio State in week two, it's really going to ramp up
02:11in Austin.
02:12You know, so I'm going to say Sark and it's close.
02:15Yeah, I'm going to leave it as well. Just kind of what you said, like the amount of guys they
02:19have on that roster, I think is better than the team they have whenever they made that deep run and
02:23lost to Ohio State.
02:24So if you can at least replicate that now that you have have Arch Manning at your quarterback, then, yeah,
02:30that's that's a disappointing season.
02:31This is going to be a national championship or bust year for him.
02:34If he doesn't get it this year, then there shouldn't be talks about him getting fired.
02:39But just in this landscape of college football, that may it might be a conversation that pops up.
02:43I hope it doesn't. But it's going to be a big year for him.
02:46I'm going to lift this because and I don't disagree with anything.
02:49And like you said, there's plenty of pressure. The article does a great job.
02:52You'll check it out on Sporting News of like breaking down both sides of it.
02:56The one thing, like to Steele's point, Art Sark isn't getting fired unless they go four and eight this year.
03:02Like that's not going to happen. Payton didn't win a national championship at Tennessee.
03:06They won one the following season. Eli didn't win one at Ole Miss and they weren't nearly as close.
03:13And he had I think they went 10 and two, maybe his final season or his junior year.
03:18But both of those guys stayed for four years. Both of them played three or four.
03:21I think they were both four year starters, at least three.
03:25And so so there's an expiration on this. And yeah, he could stay another season.
03:31I can't really envision that at this point unless he struggles mightily this year.
03:35But to me, I think Arch Manning has more of the pressure because he has an expiration on his college
03:41career.
03:41Sark will have another shot. He'll have another round.
03:44And while he'll take a lot of criticism, a lot of heat, Arch has something to do.
03:48He has the ability to do something that neither one of his brothers did or his uncles did.
03:54And that to me is what changes this a little bit.
03:57And it's believe me, we're talking like 51, 49 here.
04:01There's the weight of the world that's existing right now in Austin and both of those guys.
04:07And we'll see ultimately what happens with that.
04:10To Bill's point, we'll get into this more a little bit tomorrow.
04:13Some of this patch conversation and go through his great article with some of the patches that need to happen
04:18with the affiliations of different schools.
04:21Ohio State went with Chase Bank and ironically, you know, they know blue on that, even though Chase Banks is
04:27blue.
04:27And I think a lot of these schools are going to keep color congruency and not change it because you
04:32really don't notice it unless there's a pop of a different color.
04:35There doesn't need to be any green on Ohio State's or blue or their jersey.
04:40Notre Dame went with SoFi, which SoFi is blue.
04:42But if they went with someone that had red or like yellow, purple or like a bright yellow, that's not
04:48the gold.
04:49Like you didn't need to see that.
04:51But Notre Dame reportedly got around 18 to 19 million.
04:54Ohio State got around 17.
04:55Neither one of these per year, by the way, neither one of these schools are going to ever confirm that
05:02or their partners.
05:04That's what's rumored.
05:05So we can argue that I guess it's probably in that general vicinity.
