00:13Lawyer Yoyang Po told the Court of Appeal that the Board must remain accountable to the people
00:18and that its decisions must be susceptible to judicial review.
00:22The Bar is appealing against a High Court ruling which blocked its attempt to challenge the reduction of Najib's 12
00:28-year jail term
00:29to 6 years and his RM210 million fine to RM50 million.
00:34It is seeking a declaration that the Pardons Board's decision was unlawful, unconstitutional and void.
00:41However, Senior Federal Counsel Ahmad Hani Hanbali argued that the Royal Pardons decision under Article 42
00:48was not open to judicial review.
00:51Najib's lawyer Shafi Abdullah also argued that the Agong makes the final decision on pardons
00:56while Board members only provide their views.
00:59the three-member Court of Appeal Bench reserved its judgement.
