00:04heart issues are scary for anyone who has one mainly because getting a new ticker is no easy
00:08feat but now scientists might be one step closer to changing all of that as they have just grown
00:13a partial heart in a lab that beats right now it's just one ventricle but it's able to pump
00:18like a heart and move fluids by doing so the researchers from the university of toronto and
00:23university of montreal say it's not only a step towards building a full working heart model but
00:27it's also giving them an inside look at what volume of fluid can be moved and at what specific
00:32pressure something impossible with other investigation methods the whole thing was reverse engineered from
00:37rat cell cultures grown onto a 3d printed mesh guiding the tissue growth around it they're
00:42calling it a proof of concept for studying the human heart more closely perhaps eventually allowing them
00:47to build a human analog with which to test new pharmaceutical candidates or maybe even one day
00:52growing a genetically identical human heart in a lab for transplant one that won't be rejected by the
00:57body and circumventing the donor waiting list altogether
