00:01A 28-year-old driver was charged at the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court on Thursday with
00:07four offences, including the murders of two teenage girls on Jalan Padang Tembak last

00:21No plea was recorded on the two murder charges as the offences fall under the jurisdiction
00:26of the High Court.
00:27He is accused of murdering 17-year-old Noordania Arisa Salim and 16-year-old Nooratika Abdullah
00:35in a crash near Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Siri Setia at 6.35pm on July 26.
00:41Both charges were brought under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death
00:47penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years.
00:52Offenders who are not sentenced to death are also liable to at least 12 strokes of the cane
00:57upon conviction.
00:59Alex also faces a charge of driving under the influence of drugs, allegedly causing injuries
01:05to a seven-year-old pedestrian.
01:07The charge was brought under Section 44, Subsection 1A, Paragraph A of the Road Transport Act,
01:141987, which carries a prison sentence of between seven and ten years and a fine of between 30,000
01:21ringgit and 50,000 ringgit upon conviction.
01:25He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of reckless driving, allegedly causing an accident involving
01:3250-year-old Ace Ares at the same location and time.
01:35The offence, under Section 43, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act, 1987, carries a fine
01:43of between 5,000 ringgit and 10,000 ringgit or imprisonment of up to 12 months upon conviction.
01:50The court denied bail and fixed September 11 for further mention of the case, pending the
01:56post-mortem, toxicology and other relevant reports.
