00:05to come out of the Star Wars universe.
00:07Set as a prequel to Rogue One, we get more of the backstory of the Rebel Alliance and of course
00:12Cassian Andor.
00:13So I asked the WhatCulture community to vote for their favourite episode.
00:17I'm CJ, this is WhatCulture, and here are your Top 8 Andor episodes voted by you.
00:23Number 8 is Season 1, Episode 3, Reckoning.
00:26This episode was directed by Toby Haynes and written by Tony Gilroy.
00:31The events of this episode focus on the planet Ferex, where it reaches a climax as the Primo Authority Forces,
00:37led by Deputy Inspector Cyril Kahn, track Cassian Andor to Ferex.
00:43Cassian meets with Lufen, who reveals his true identity and persuades a reluctant Cassian to join his anti-imperial operation.
00:51The confrontation with the Primo Forces provides cover for Cassian and Lufen to escape Ferex.
00:55Flashbacks also give us more of a detailed story of a young Cassian being adopted by Marva and Clem on
01:02Qunari.
01:03In 7th place, it's Make It Stop.
01:05Season 2, Episode 10, Make It Stop is directed by Alonso Rusopaliseus and written by Tom Bizzle.
01:11It's a tense pivotal episode that completely focuses on Lufen and Clea and does not feature Cassian Andor at all.
01:18We take a deep dive into the harsh realities of Lufen's commitment to the Rebellion, beginning with his Imperial informant
01:25Lonnie, reveals the existence of the Death Star, but is promptly murdered by Lufen to protect the secret.
01:31Lufen rushes to destroy evidence at his antique shop, but is cornered by Deidre, who has finally identified him as
01:38Axis.
01:39Lufen attempts suicide to avoid capture and torture, but is saved by Miro and hospitalised on life support.
01:46The remainder of the episode focuses on Clea, whose backstory is revealed through flashbacks showing Lufen rescuing her from a
01:53massacred homeworld, highlighting their shared ruthless devotion to the cause.
01:58Ultimately, Clea infiltrates the hospital and believing Lufen's survival possesses the single greatest threat to the Rebellion network, she tearfully
02:06disconnects his life support and kills him, honouring his intended sacrifice and securing the secret of the Death Star once
02:14more.
02:14In 6th place, we have Narkina 5.
02:17Season 1, Episode 8, Narkina 5 was directed by Toby Haynes and written by Bo Willem.
02:23In the previous episode, Ando was captured and has been sentenced to 6 years in the brutal Imperial Prison Factory
02:31on Narkina 5.
02:33He is assigned the work-the-floor unit, where he meets Kino Loy, played by the one and only Andy
02:38Serkis.
02:39Here, Ando learns how to survive in the prison with no hope of escape.
02:43However, on Coruscant, Deidre's investigation in the Aldehani heist and the mysterious Axis gain significant traction within the ISB,
02:51ending with Bix being captured and taken to be tortured.
02:56And Mon Mothma faces financial threats that force her to seek risky sources of funding,
03:02and Lufen meets the infamous extremist leader, Saul Guerrera, who we were introduced to in the film Rogue One.
03:10And at number 5, the episode, Who Are You?
03:12Season 2, Episode 8, Who Are You? is directed by Janice Metz and written by Dan Gilroy.
03:18Who Are You? is a brutal, emotionally charged episode which is entirely focused on the Gorman Massacre,
03:25a horrific turning point in the Rebellion.
03:27Now, this all begins when Deidre finally puts her plan into motion
03:31and suppresses a massive anti-imperial protest in Palmo Plaza,
03:36resulting in the deaths of hundreds of the Gorman civilians.
03:40Now, Cassian, who has been sent to assassinate Deidre,
03:43is forced to forget his mission and engage in the ensuing chaos.
03:48Now, Cyril at this point has just realised he was nothing more than an imperial pawn to do Deidre's work.
03:56And having spotted Andor in the distance, who he's been tracking since Season 1, finally confronts him.
04:03A brutal and bloody fight begins which does not end well for Cyril,
04:07as he is killed by one of the Gorman protesters, tragically ending his obsessive quest to find and kill Andor.
04:16Cassian, however, manages to escape, and the episode ends with the emergency broadcast exposing the Empire's merciless attack to the
04:24wider galaxy.
04:25Now, as much as I loved Cyril as a character, I do think his death was quite a good one,
04:31especially with Andor saying, who are you, after all of this time.
04:35But more importantly, who are you?

04:49And in fourth place, Jedi Kaiba Erso.
04:52Season 2, episode 12, Jedi Kaiba Erso, was directed by Alonso Ruzpolisius and written by Tom Bissell.
05:00The final ever episode of Andor directly sets up Rogue One,
05:04beginning with Cassian and the newly reactivated K2 rescuing Clea.
05:08Clea has been in hiding on Coruscant with the details of the impending Death Star.
05:12After a daring escape and return to Rebellion over Anyavin to deliver this important information,
05:17Cassian is disheartened to find a sceptical Rebel High Command.
05:21Cassian passionately defends Lufen's sacrifice,
05:23eventually convincing Bail Organa of the threat's gravity
05:27and what it could mean for the Rebel Alliance and the rest of the galaxy.
05:31While the episode resolves several Imperial arcs,
05:34including showing Mejia Partagaz's suicide and Deidre's imprisonment,
05:38the central focus remains on Cassian,
05:40who is ultimately authorised by Organa to pursue the corroborating contact.
05:45The series concludes with Cassian and K2 departing Yavin,
05:49taking us directly to the start of Rogue One.
05:52And even though we know the fate of Cassian,
05:54we are given some hope when seeing Bix,
05:56now with Childe, who we can assume is Cassian's,
05:59safe and hopefully living a happy life due to Cassian's sacrifice.
06:04And at number three, we have Nobody's Listening.
06:07Season one, episode nine, Nobody's Listening,
06:09is directed by Toby Haynes and written by Bo Willem.
06:13We start with poor Bix,
06:15who is being captured but remains defined as Deidre continues her torture.
06:20However, after placing headphones on Bix,
06:22we hear horrific screams of her torture,
06:25causing her to break almost immediately.
06:28Cyril has started to openly stalk Deidre,
06:31who is not impressed and he finds her outside ISB headquarters,
06:35but she sternly dismisses him and tells him to stop.
06:39Cassian, however, continues to try and convince Kino Loy
06:41and the other prisoners to plan an escape.
06:43Kino is having none of it and is dedicated to compliance
06:46in the hope of legitimate release.
06:48Cassian, getting frustrated by this,
06:51yells out Nobody's Listening,
06:52telling us that the Empire doesn't care about them.
06:55It's not until the climax of the episode where Olaf dies
06:58that the truth is finally revealed
07:00and that nobody is listening
07:02and nobody escapes unless you die.
07:05And at number two, we have Welcome to the Rebellion.
07:09Season two, episode nine, Welcome to the Rebellion
07:11is directed by Janice Metz and written by Dan Gilroy.
07:16This episode centers on Senamon Mothma,
07:18making a final defining move against the Empire
07:21following the atrocities of the Gorman Massacre.
07:24Despite receiving an extradition plan from Bail Organa,
07:27Mon is approached by Luthun,
07:29who reveals that both her aide and Organa's team
07:31are compromised by Imperial spies,
07:34highlighting the deep distrust and danger
07:36that's within the Rebellion.
07:38Mon Mothma delivers a powerful televised speech in the Senate,
07:42publicly condemning Emperor Palpatine
07:44and the unprovoked genocide on Gorman,
07:47forced in the Empire that cut her off.
07:49As Imperial forces move to arrest her,
07:51Cassian, working under Luthun,
07:53meets Mon for the first time in the Senate
07:55and successfully coordinates her dramatic,
07:58frantic escape from Coruscant,
07:59effectively beginning her transition from political senator
08:03to the public face of the Rebel Alliance.

08:22Mon Mothma faces pressure to securing funding for the Rebellion,
08:25meeting with Davo for a morally compromising deal
08:28which involves an arranged marriage for her daughter
08:32to help secure the Rebellion's future.
08:35Luthun meets his Imperial informant, Lonnie,
08:37and makes the difficult, cold-blooded decision
08:40to sacrifice one Rebel cell
08:42to protect his crucial Imperial asset, Lonnie.
08:46And going to Andor, the prisoners of Narcino 5,
08:48knowing the truth that there's no way out,
08:51and motivated by Cassian and Kino Loy,
08:54execute a massive, coordinated prison break,
08:57Kino delivers a powerful, inspiring speech over the Intercon,
09:00causing a massive prison break,
09:02which I think is possibly one of the best scenes
09:05in the entire series.
09:06But as the prisoners finally see the light of day,
09:09we see Kino reluctant to join Cassian
09:11as we find out he can't swim
09:13and will not jump in the water to escape,
09:16leaving us to wonder what his fate is
09:18trapped in the Imperial prison.
09:20Cassian swims to safety
09:21and continues his escape from the Empire,
09:24and we end the episode.
09:26An episode full of sacrifices to help the greater good,
09:29and one of the best episodes of Andor ever made.
